Marijuana refers to the part of the plant that gets you high, the flower. HEMP is made from the stalk. You can't make hemp products from the plants that are cultivated in basements and closets. Those plants have been bred over time to maximize the flowers, not the HEMP or bast of the plant.

The cannabinoid receptor is just a name. Yes, THC binds to it, but it doesn't mean that we are genetically predisposed to do anything with cannibis. There is also a class of opiod receptors. Are we predisposed to smoke opium? Many toxins and venom also bind quite well to cellular receptors, not to mention that Drug companies make compounds that bind better to cellular receptors than those found in nature. Are we genetically predisposed to use Merck products?
