this is the 50th time I've watched this I am the One reprise in 3 days, it's my favorite song right now. I just love the moment when Dan holds on to Gabe's hand-it gets me each time.
@Nick83115 I feel the same way. Any video I've seen of him in this role, he literally looks like he's bored. He's just..singing. It's bizarre. I was in a rather similar situation as Dan at one point, being walked out on by a bipolar partner who decided THEY needed to walk away even though that seemed totally backwards and opposite of what made sense, and I defintiely didn't act bored like he does here haha. I was angry, upset beyond belief, betrayed..he does not convey these feelings.
@ErnieFairchild1 I think he was trying to portray a numb character who's afraid of letting emotion show because everyone else does so much of it. I have a father much like this and he gets all stoic when mom gets into one of her fits. For me, it made perfect sense because that's exactly how my father acts.
Oh lord this is depressing D: I can't believe I've never known of this show until now. Oh my god so sad I can almost cry while arching it on my phone :(
oh my goodness. i cannot watch this without the screen blurring. i saw the tour a few months ago, and me, my mom and my friend were crying for literally three fourths of the second half nonstop. once we got to a certain point in the show, the tears started coming and wouldn't stop. brilliant.
I just saw this show tonight and I cannot stop watching videos now. This ending part is my favorite. I Am the One (Reprise) + Light makes me cry so much. :( I love this show! :)
@12thLeveIWizardKing did you see it in providence,i just saw it yesterday in providence...isn't it amazing,i'am still shaking from the show...so moving..love it!!!
So i'm not dissing this guy or anything.. i love this show no matter what. but i think personally that J. Robert Specer's version was a LOT more powerful..but Aaron's voice crack automatically gets me teary eyed..like a switch
@arilalala58 honestly, pretty much the whole second act goes with out applause. It adds to the intensity and emotion. This was off-broadway and some changes have been made as well as more emotion from the actors. Gabe literally grabs and holds dan gets me every time.
Just saw the tour a few weeks ago, and it was a lot more powerful there (not that this doesn't give me the goosebumps still). The way Gabe wrapped his arms completely around Dan like he could not escape. Also, there was just more strength put into the singing (not the right word, but I don't know...). Maybe they dialed it up after the off-broadway run?
Is this the workshop? I was just wondering what this is because this show's lyrics are different from those on the actual CD. I've never seen the actual show, I've only listened to the soundtrack so I don't know...
@SKW3threat Don't know if anyone's responded to this yet, but this is the off-broadway version of the show I believe. There were a few song replacements and lyric changes (all for the better, actually) before it made it to broadway and they froze it.
@SKW3threat this is defiantly not the broadway. this is one of the many of versions of the show before it hit broadway. Im not sure about the theatre though. its either Second Stag( off broadway ) or arena Stage
Wont lie, I do prefer Bobby's Dan better. However, Brian is still fabulous. He has *so* many great emotions going on in this part. Plus this video definitely just made me cry in Starbucks. I feel awesome.
This is the longest goodbye song ever.

@swivelskank I read that the show was reviewed before hitting broadway. Light was one of the songs that changed drastically.

@swivelskank These are the lyrics for the off Broadway version of Light. There were revisions since the soundtrack was released.
