The way I see this is that these people are connecting the country. They are promoting unity, creating pride for this country. This song is something to connect switzerland and in the state switzerland is it is a good thing. Only because Americans think that its fine to torture swiss banks it does not make it right.

I think as there is no 'natural language' there is no 'natural' language to sing in. The decision to sing in english does not have necessarily any comercial thoughts. You could reason for example that this way you address more people or what do I know ;)

Music shows feelings and thoughts of people who want to tell the world what they are about. Please don't hate just because of some mistakes. I'm pretty sure you would hardly fail if you'd just try to speak swiss-german.

Other Countries, other languages, but music is able to connect them all. ;-)

@paladin905 I understand what music is, but with any form of art comes criticism. If they just wanted to 'show their feelings and thoughts', why not do it in Swiss German than? What I'm saying is that many bands decide to sing in English because it has a better chance of becoming commercially successful, and lyrics/grammar/chords are important! It is a catchy song, but it doesn't change the fact their lyrics are bad, just look at "I love lady gaga'..i mean come on

As far as i'm getting it it's about a better future we will make come true if we try where there's no need for a king where's no religion which only allows there point of view and any other religion or people are satanist. maybe i'm wrong and it has no meanings to the band but when i look at songs as in the war, 47 millionaires, It's now, hero... i highly doubt it that this song'd be meaningless P.S. i'm swiss, too

@cmk777 Every so often it happens to me that my thoughts can be put into words way better in English than in German, I'm Swiss, grew up in Switzerland but watch all my TV shows in English, read almost only in English and thus it happens that I tend to write my own notes in English. I can understand very well why someone would write in English after spending two impressive years down-under...

@cmk777 The reason why they write in english is basically that they live in Australia for several years. So they got impressed by the language and the music genre their playing in.

I think there's no indie-band out there which sings in swiss-german. ;-)

P.S: I'm also from switzerland. But i prefer english as language because it's more adorable than swiss-german.
