The question is who really won in World War II?
We are still talking about it as if it were yesterday.
Atrocities were committed, and no reasoning can make that wrong into a right.
BUT perhaps we are a bit jealous.
Hitler proposed to create a group of people that could do better than those before.
If he had just stuck to that premise and not war, maybe our thinking would have included the many changes he made in Germany that we waited many years to make.
Just maybe we are jealous.

@bozimo1 Well Hitler was good at the domestic issues. If he wanted to win the war then he should have left it up to the generals. Also Monty dressed the way he did because North Africa is not a good place to wear a full uniform. Rommel (with a due respect to that brilliant man) did wear the.... not so formal stuff too. He wasn't stupid. He dressed well for the cameras and took it all off when they were gone.

for example, two tank comanders were debating over what they should do with some panzer and tiger tank battalions. one wanted to send some to normandy, the other wanted russia. hitlerwas finaly asked what to do and he threw them all over europe and africa. if they went to normady, germany would have been able to repel the d day invasion

I completely agree with you. The German soldiers and generals were amongst the best in the world at the time. however due to Hitler seizing control over the OKW (as you said), the skill was wasted as Hitler made some very stupid decisions. The fuhrers poor military judgment were the third Reichs undoing

Had he followed "Von Manstein's" plan, Germany might not have crashed down the way it did.
Hiter was really a gambler, it payed off in France, however not in Sovjet.
