I slept through sum of it and was awoken howling winds, crashing chimneys pots,my home was shaking. When i went to work windy and desolate.I remember it quiet clearly even though it happened quiet a long time ago.

That's Kim RIley doing the East Anglian update. I was seven at the time, but wouldn't have seen the report as we had a power cut that lasted about 5 days.
Brilliant. That clip of the bloke flipping his filofax over has been used loads of times in those shitty channel 4 'weren't the 80s hilarious' type programmes.
on this day i had a really shit 80s haircut with a massive fringe across one eye. It was held by loads of hairspray. It moved just a little bit on this windy day.
I remember I was little, and they evacuated our double decker bus because they were afraid it would tip over. We got stranded in the middle of nowhere cornwall for a while. It was so scary, especially for someone as little as me at the time, thought I might blow away!
I was working for the Irish state telephone company at the time and we went to England with our trucks and equipment and helped repair all the lines. We spent weeks there but everyone took great care of us and I remember how greatful everyone was for our help.

I remember this; the day after anyway. Totally changes horizon. Trees tossed about and uprooted.

I am ashamed to say, I slept through all this.
Living as I was on the 5th floor of a tower block at Parsons Green.
What a shock when I went out..
