LoL, people are debating Star Wars martial arts theory? First of all, jedi can predict the future or is it anticipate ahead a split second. This accounts for them able to deflect blaster fire, etc. Normal attacks should not work against them. Star Wars fans should be able to cite official canon on these things. ^_^

Don't forget it's science fiction. Take for example in Dune they have to stab through personal force fields at a certain slow speed. Fast attacks will be deflected.

Be honest most of the star wars nerds "No offense I'm kind of one too" can't sword fight for their lives. Sure they can try to look good to the untrained sword fighter, but for the trained we know how to make a quick effective kill. I remember they had me duel darth vader the opening of Episode 3 in my Stormtrooper suit. Took me 2 strikes and it was done. lol Vader destroyed by his stormtrooper.

They aren't fencing like with a sword. they are fighting like with a kon staff.

Fencing is different it focuses on thrusting. I'm not talking about fencing and you don't fence with swords. Lightsaber if you fight with double, single or two handed all are open to thrust or slashes. This is just an acting fight to create predictable movements on where you're going to likely strike based on long swing movements. When you want to kill your opponent you aim for their body not their weapon, not saying you should not block attacks but don't make useless strikes at the their blade

True, you wouldn't make useless strikes at the blade, not like this video shows at least. Sometimes though it is necessary to get the dang thing out of the way, a slight nudge will do the trick though.

In stage combat, you never actually strike at the person, because if you mess up, people can get seriously hurt. That's why they're not actually striking at eachvother.

correct - the two heaven strikes are meant for clavicle/shoulder and the earth are meant for legs - not meant to hit weapons. Funny!

its a force fx light saber. You have to buy 2 of the darth maul ones then join them together with the coupling piece that comes in the box with the saber. Mine cost 140 pounds in the UK. £70 EACH. (270 US)

Its not even neccisaruly Bo staff, the Jo and even Handbo have similar smaller sub secitons and "kata's" with this in, its a pretty universal movement set for staff.

Only reason i would agree wiht it being bo staff more than anything is the obvious fact that the length of both darht maul fx lightsabers when put together is 8ft in lengh overall.

You are absolutely right. :D Ray Park/Darth Maul is the shit in Star Wars. The duel fight in Phantom Menace is without doubt the best coreographed swordfight ever. The plot was less interesting as the other movies, but the end fight was a blow. He really owned everybody. And it's nice to see that he is such a good person :D
