  • I can't get over how amazing this game is. The soundtrack and music, the visuals, the gameplay, the storyline...it's just...great. xD

  • Thanks someone who ruined this "It's not a lake" *puts on the sunglasses* "It's an ocean" YEEEEEAAAAHHHH!!! Now I can't get this idea from my mind.

  • " Why is a raven like a writing desk? " ; " I haven't the slightest idea. " Pretty much what it came down to in understanding the ending. LOL. Though I loved every minute of it.

  • Alan Wake is a writer. He went to the island in order to ... rest and unblock his writer's block. Now, I have a feeling, that this whole adventure was his attempt to write a story, The darkness representing his writer's block, and his defeating of the darkness was his way into the light. For example, when he used his flashlight, which was considered in his pencil or pen or his creative mind, was shining on the words and the words became objects when the so called flashlight shown on it. A writer

  • Just finished the game on the PC, and this is no doubt one of the best game IMO. Got immerse into the story for awhile, kind of like watching a movie. Can't wait for the next series.

  • Kinda sad ending :(

  • this game is just about running in the woods while coming across story elements. Nothing to think about just run in a linear forest through some barns and fight some darkness monster. Kinda repetitive to me.I don't understand what was the hype about. This game is overrated.

  • @Rotten6546 You just don't get the story. It's not all about the gameplay.

  • @lijey2000 It's a game. It's a boring game. If it wasn't about the gameplay why didn't they write a book since it's about book writing?

  • @Rotten6546 because a game is more visual. A book would have ben nice though

  • this game scared me cuz the horror moment

  • @Taud it was more foucsed on story than gameplay

  • the ending is so sad

  • No in the end Rose has the light from the ol lady, now she is the creazy lady and nightingale is now in the place of barbara jagger, the story is meaking a circle. Now Alan Is like Thomas Zane, Alan in this movie told that everything has its price, mr. scratch will be liwing his life... sory for my bad english .. love the game if anyone finish it on nightmare tell me if there is another movie in the ending

  • @Proteusz19

in the end of american nightmare we can a film of alice and alan meets again and kiss

and then a voice said that this will not happend here its going to happend in bright falls for sure

so i hope to see a good ending in alan wake 2 :3

  • @SuperAsafa

    we can see *

  • as i see it,dark presence still lives through nightingale, who is still in control of rose( 6:12,you can see nightingale in dark),and we will have an sequel..

  • nice game!

  • At the end, when i saw all those words "phone" "crate"... etc

I thought it was TEXTURE LOADING FAIL.

  • thats not the full ending. the real ending is at the end of "the writer"

  • this game was the final battle with pure darkness....I thought the ultimate fight was Alone in the dark:the new nightmare....but I was proven wrong...I think we will never see something like this ever again

  • Im disappointed at the ending i thought it was going to be like Shutter island mind blowing ending not some dark fantasy interpretation crap again...

  • @matmanxify Shutter Island? Mind-blowing? You obviously haven't seen The Sixth Sense. Scorsese is a great director, but SI is deffinayely not one of his best.

  • @dddrrmm ofc i saw the Sixth Sense but you gotta understand when i went to see Shutter Island in the movie with my gf it was a last minute i didnt know what to expect, thought it was some kind of cop thriller the ending blew me away more then the Sixth Sense or Fight Club for that matter. I would recommend seeing as you have a taste for good cinema a movie "The secret in their eyes" Its Argentinian and very good. But lets face it Alan Wake ending is a very weak clifhanger. Ciao

  • such wonderful music <3

  • This game was the best game i´ve ever played, when i end it i saw how this game is good in all parts, the end, the story, and the suspense, and now i'm waiting the Alan Wake 2.

  • @bruno123266 indeed

  • SPOILERSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS.............

  • so when he dove, he entered the darkness! WOW! that's unpredictable.

  • The ending killed the game for me

  • I love how Rosa becomes the crazy light lady.

  • I understand everything, but not only one thing, why he said that ''It's not a lake it's an ocean.'' Did he want to hurt other people too? Someone reply please.

  • This is very real. Not so much the OverNatural things, but the thing is that now a lot of people sacrifices themself to save the country they love, or the people they love, and no-one rembers then. They like that f*ck of Justin bieber and they cant remember the good people that give their lifes for the things they loved.

  • Alan Wake, by Gorgio Armani.

  • hug of death

  • just ended it a minute and all i have to say is three words WHAT THE FUCK!!!!! that was crazy!!!!!

  • I swear thats a man in the diner window

  • @TazmanianPostman its agent nighingale. looks like the dark precense now looks like him, and rose is the new lamp lady.

  • but i didn't understood : in the final, did he found alice or not???

  • @DGGameplaysHD he set here free by killing himself in the novel, well, actually he placed the island with him in the middle of the ocean so shadows cant hurt anyone anymore

  • @Mudoglav well not true , what about alan wake american nightmare , still he said its not an lake its an ocean like if he figured out it was not just the lake but much greater. also the second possibility could be if you hear his voice when he said its an ocean with a dark weird voice like if the darkness was still there and made him write it to get stronger like the old lady darkness did controlling him

  • All she needed was a hug?

  • good game rock it with i5 2500k,560 ti,8 gb maxe out gg.

  • Fucking monster system requirements destroyed full joyness of playing this game. With Intel E5700 3.0GHZ,ATI Radeon 4650 HD,4GB RAM memory I couldn't play it smoothly even on the lowest performance...

  • @MsNick991 r u sure u dont need a new pc? i can run this smoothly on my laptop

  • @razzo086

Well I do not have a strong pc but I should play every game with low performances smoothly.

  • @razzo086 it lags on certain pc's, actually it works pretty good on others. try the update it might solve the fps issues

  • the game is the best game since half life 2 common people, these days games are mindless shooters

  • @BallerSkier It's not the best purely because the combat gets fairly repetetive. But it is a very good game. Especially the story.

  • @BallerSkier absolutly agree with you !!!

  • @BallerSkier fuck half life, overrated piece of garbage

  • @BallerSkier Definitely one of the better games since Half Life 2... Its been a couple days since I beat the game and I'm still having my own theories as to how it really ends. Great game!!

  • @BallerSkier the sprint/dodging is a little weak, the enemies got repetitive too

  • Every game made in the past decade is repetitive as fuck. It's time for a complete rethinking of how games are made.

  • How's alice? How's Alice?

  • Alan Wake's voice actor had absolutely no emotion the entire game. It got boring hearing him narrate the entire game

  • @KracknCorn Yeah his voice wasn't great... They should have found someone better.

  • well, fuck this bs, ill assume he was nuts all this time, makes more sense and satisfaction too me. On the same note, fuck you LOST.

  • I like that ending. It's not the typical "oh, everything's gonna be fine" - and also doesn't say that Alan is not going to come back either. Who knows what will come up.

  • how the hell rose let herself go to the dark

    its so sad lol

  • Fantastyczna Fenomenalna gra jedna z lepszych w ktore zagralem.Mistrzostwo. Muzyka ,klimat wszystko ...

  • The ending killed the game for me... I absolutly hate endings like that.

  • @xxan84 me too, i agree with that... everything was just fine until i saw the ending video....

  • Am I wierd for being in love with Alan Wake, the character? Lol, I love his looks, his voice, everything! ;)

  • Shit im more confused than micheal jackson

  • .......AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH, i hate this bullshit. It's fine if a game confuses the shit out of you till the very end, it can actualy make it better, but thats when all the pieces should fall into place, there is a big reveal moment, and you look back and go oooooohhhhhh i get it now. But this shit made no sence right up to the end and even less after the ending.

  • @canofbeast Dude, you're just stupid.

  • @canofbeast go to the alan wake wiki, search it in google, read up on character background and other stuff. it helps everything make sense

  • Best game ever created in the history of gaming! And the best ending to a game! It's so ingenious and mind-bending but makes sense when analyzed. Love Alan wake!

  • but all above itz a mind sucking story

  • What happened to Rose?

  • @UltraViolentGamer read the "alan wake files" guys, there are interviews with people after this, rose is gone slightly mad, she is the new lamp lady, waiting for the second game i guess.

  • I hope in the new game Alan is reunited with his wife dead or alive!

  • u have ti be high to figure out this game

  • i absolutely love this game one of the best ive ever played

  • @mikem32415 most repetitive pile of shit i 'v ever played

  • Comment removed

  • It's a dream :o

  • @ChocoboJRR No its not

  • I dont get how the people of Bright Falls dont realize that the people turned into taken are missing.

  • I love Alan Wake but 'Oh No!' has to be some of the worst voice acting ever haha.

  • @mapo11 i just realized that, LOL i keep repeating that part now

  • Comment removed

  • Alan, wake up. I love that line.

  • Bird leg cabin. Reminds me of the Baba Yaga. Old slavic legend about a canabalistic witch who lives in a house that walks around on bird legs.

  • i had beat the game but hadnt seen the full ending b4

  • how far did she fucking swim man :( sad ; ;

  • Sometimes reading the comments are even more entertaining than the videos themselves.

Some of you are on to something, and some of you are completely wrong.

Regardless, We'll all see withing the forst few months of next year.

  • Alan wake, A.Wake ;]

  • @LostNorthernXD no shit, sherlock!

  • Comment removed

  • This games ending was so confusing but i cant wait to play the nrw alan wake to see how it will tie in.

  • @charsens81 Read my comment carefully before blowing up geez, I said wait Till Alan wake 2 not till the end. And if you actually do your research the Alan wake 2 story line is up and it explains everything. It's people like you that crack me up, not doing research and reading or not understand stuff and your quick to answer. Next time try thinking before commenting seriously man.

  • i think he was writing "the end of alen wake"

  • Oh yeah one more thing, If Bright Falls is supposed to be a stranded island then how the heck did Alan get there? Even if it did turn "Stranded" after he got there you also gotta remember that Barry came way after he got there also.

  • This game is amazingly brilliant and way different from your usual 360 game play. The whole concept of the game is well thought of and creative. And if you don't understand the ending well just wait till Alan wake 2 you'll be like " ahhh I see now."

  • I would love to watch Uncharted and Alan Wake movies someday

  • I love Alan Wake, i read the book loads an wen i got the game it was by far the greatest cliffhanging piece of epicness evr to be played on my xbox an OMG Agent Nightingale

  • I dont understand this game!

    not one bit. ;(

  • @XvXNutLesSUnclEXvX Basically a famous writer is brought on vacation to a small town by his wife, but she is captured that night. Alan Wakes up a week later and fights possessed men of the town and finds manuscript pages about a novel he has never written, but it's titled in his name. And the pages he reads are coming true. He discovers that the same thing happened to a poet and his wife, who suffered the same fate. The lake makes an artist's work come true. The poet's wife is the lady in black

  • @Thomasveach95 D: thats terrible!

  • @XvXNutLesSUnclEXvX What do you mean? If you mean the story is terrible, than you have no taste what so ever... Besides, there is way more to the story than what I wrote. Just play it.

  • @Thomasveach95 No you got me all wrong the story is great best horror survival game ive played so far its just the story is sad, him and his wife,ya'know. :(

  • whos that in the window

  • three words. WHAT.......THE........F

  • David Bowies Space Oddity in the credits totally killed me. Goosebumps over and over.

  • why does alan sound so evil at the end?

  • ok is this right that now alan wrights the story from nowon then he then brightfalls will never get attacted again

  • wow the comment below mine realy explained a lot so the next alan wake night springs (alan wake 2) is going to be even deeper and harder.

    alan wake: is a lake

alan wake night springs: is a ocean

makes perfect seance now thank you @gumcom

  • The devs have explained this ending! They said:

"Before writing it, we smoke 2 pounds of weed, we were really high and thought this was great"

  • guys the ending is that alan has to finish his story but he will have to defeat the darkness to do so so then.... alan wake 2

  • Who... is that standing in the dark behind Rose in the house? ( 6:03 )

  • @Atvishees It's Nightengale. The FBI Agent.

  • @Atvishees

    Apparently it's Agent Nightingale.

  • Comment removed

  • wait... what?

  • Best game in my history of gaming :) And i started in 1984...

  • i played this game and it was awesome but it is totoally not for little kids, it had me a little scared at parts

  • The ocean means Bright Falls is an island, not a town. Referencing to Lost where the game took some of its elements

  • @gumcom ...

    It's not an island!

  • @Atvishees

    it is!!!

  • @gumcom Where or when does it say Bright Falls is an island?

  • @Atvishees

Because Alan clearly said it wasn't a lake, it's an ocean.

Therefore, Bright Falls is an island.

And the producers said they grabbed some elements from Lost for the game. Lost is about a mysterious island with a lot of weird shit happens.

  • @gumcom If Bright Falls was an island, it must be a hell of a big island (you know, one that supports multiple highways, large parks and foresting areas, a monstrous mountain range, a sizeable agriculture, thousands of inhabitants, etc).

There is no reason that it should be an island; and it looks pretty connected to me though.

  • @Atvishees

An island doesn't have to be small. And that's the mystery. How did Bright Falls become an island? Maybe after Alan got there, it's been completely cut off from the world. Like Silent Hill.

  • @gumcom But its not cut off! That's my whole point.

As you can see by the sheer amount of stranded cars and empty houses which can be seen every night after every darkness attack, you can see how many people live there. You can clearly see how burstingly full it is at day time! It is even said once how many people would come to that deer fest from outside the town.

What Alan said at the end is definitely meant metaphorical (it would sound stupid of him to state the painfully obvious).

  • @Atvishees

We'll just wait for Alan Wake 2 then. We'll see who's right. Remember me in a year or two. LOL

  • @gumcom Mate, how old are you?

You're not supposed to take everything literally. Especially not Alan Wake (which is kind of the point of the game's philospohy, it's a metaphor in a metaphor. A meta-metaphor, if you will).

  • @Atvishees

It's an ocean. It's an island.

  • Comment removed

  • @gumcom Nope. The other guy is right. It's a metaphor. I dunno what's stopping you from comprehending that, but it's a metaphor, nonetheless.

  • @FailHazard How would you surely know its a metaphor. Did you make the game?

  • @gumcom Nope. I sure as hell did not. That doesn't change a thing. By "It's an ocean," it is implied that the story he is writing is much deeper than previously thought. The story has a mind of it's own. (Just like all stories do... well-written stories anyway.) So he must delve deeper into the story and keep writing until it is certain that it can be concluded. That's what he means by "It's an ocean."

  • Comment removed

  • @gumcom If Couldron Lake were an ocean, it would be just a few thousand times bigger. An "ocean" is a very large body of water, such as the pacific or the atlantic. Cauldron lake is an oversized pond in a volcano crater.

He probably mean that Cauldron Lake was an ocean inside (such as in an ocean of other people's thoughts and motivations, of writers' fantasies and written universes). He means that people call it a lake without noticing its vast dark secret (no pun intended).

  • This was a horrible ending. So Alan jumped into the water and Alice came out? Like a trade? Because that's just stupid.

  • @Exuvium97 It's a cliffhanger.

  • Before Alan finish Barbara Jagger, she says clearly that she's much older than him, and that she'll find the way to come back. If we remember, there's two people who were touched by the darkness and who Alan didn't killed; in fact, these two people appear with an cold and dark expression in their faces at the end of the game: Rose Marigold and Robert Nigthingale. SO, the darkness remains, opening the possibility of a sequel. I hope i'm right

  • @LucrecioSherlock well like alan said, there has to be a balance of light and dark, so you can't not have any darkness. = there is always a possibility of a sequel! 8D

  • can anyone tell me if you think there will be a part 2

  • @cozierbow19 They've already confirmed that they have more stuff already in production, so its not over ;) Just have to wait a bit.

  • Oh my god, i suddenly recognize the word "this not a lake..." Alan say by a "darkness" voice.

That I think maybe, like before, Alan's mind was prisoned by the Dark Presence, a part of him writed his escape.

Now when his mind totally free, a part of Dark Presence apply in his head, writed what it want, the greated power: it's not a lake, it's an ocean = not only haunt at Bright Fall, but also the whole world

  • top comment is a copy and paste

everytime you copy and past of youtube there are spaces just like that

  • To anyone having confusions about the ending, make sure you check out 2 other chapters of Alan Wake on youtube called "The Signal" and "The Writer"

  • Can someone please explain to me what happened, i just beat the game and i didnt get what happened, ill sub anyone who can tell me

  • What the hell can someone explain this for me? It didn't answer anything for me.

  • By far the best game ever made in the history of gaming and definitely the best story ever written.

  • @blackraven0513 Funny thing I just finished Deus Ex HR on easy and was so fucking frustrated at the end. I played Alan Wake on the hardest setting multiple time and the story always drives me forward. One of my all time favorite games.

  • çok dandik bir son. haketmemiş bu kadar satmayı. zaten az sattı.

  • not an ocean

  • its a lake u dumbass

  • i am much older than you! Alan: erm even if you are stronger at your age you have a fucking hole through your chest!

  • i have this game and its really good game i love all of its characteristics

  • he died, he wrote we would die that night on the dive, and that will cancel everything was happening at moment, saying ocen at the end as reference to the drowning, sorry my english =D

  • How can you copyright a video from a game?

  • in the end he says "its not a lake its an ocean" maybe he means that darkness is not ending on this lake its an ocean like its so expanse that its hard to finish it and to save alice

(maybe this isnt the end of the game...or it ll be finish on alan wake 2 :P)

  • I think ocean means a number 2 and the darkness made him change locations to a bigger place!

  • any body notice the "alice" at 0:50

  • This game rocks, but ending is so confusing

  • @MrHamtaq Not really. He sacrifice himself to save Alice. He's stuck on the bottom of the lake and she is safe on dry land. The end! :)

  • @MrHamtaq i like the confusing ending Stephen King even said that a clear ending takes away from the mystery of the story it says something like this in the game to

  • @MrHamtaq Basically, Alan sacrificed himself and stayed in the dark place, writing a new novel, so that his wife could be brought back to the normal world. Him going "It's not a lake, it's an ocean" suggests that The Dark Presence is worldwide and not just in Bright Falls.

  • @anon2971 It might also suggest that the Dark Place is much larger than Cauldron Lake.

  • @anon2971 thank you

  • @anon2971 Alan was in the cabin all along as you can see. The character you are playing as is actually Mr. Scratch (hence the scratch on his head.)

    My theory.

  • @anon2971 so he cant defeat it

  • @anon2971 i like your view but still i cant connect alan wake with alan wake nightmare .. if alan wake is back where is his girlfriend that got out of the lake and how did he even got out of the darkness in the lake writing an ending:"P i hate it when i cant connect the whole story together
