As usual, when it comes to Third World disasters the attention span of the public fades quickly. Haiti is just like the 12/04 Indian Ocean Tsunami - the story grew stale within two weeks of the event, at which point we all moved on.
NBC news is reporting that the body of one of the missing Lynn students (Courtney Hayes) has been found in the wreckage of the Montana. Her family and Lynn ar enot yet confirming that, but that's likely just because they haven't yet gotten a formal confirmation from the State Department.
Assuming this news is confirmed, this will just be the grim beginning of the other sad announcements we will be eventually hearing about those missing from the "Journey of Hope" group.

Angelina, since you are such an expert on emergency logistics, next time there is a major natural disaster in the third world I guess the government should put you in charge. My family knows the Gengel family through a mutual friend and my parents have meet Mr. Gengel in the past. I ask all those who are making rude comments to stop and evaluate the situation he and his family are in. I find it sickening that many are criticising a family that is in so much pain. @Pices31660, he's been on the news less since the weekend, but the Haiti story in general has been getting much less coverage since Monday. As far as I know they haven't found her along with the rest of the people from that college which doesn't bode well. If it wasn't for the overly vocal dad I really don't think her or the other students would have gotten anymore coverage than the all the other lost Americans, news coverage has been careful not to pander to American interests it seems.

The tiny school his daughter is/was attending already retained private rescue services from red24, a pricey U.K. based boutique security services firm (this is the "contractor" we keep hearing about from the school). That means ex M1 and CIA staff who work for red24 are already on site in Haiti and have scoured the entire Montana site inside and out with top urban rescue teams. But no, Obama must now send the entire U.S. Army...
Our hearts break for the pain this family is enduring; however, the people in Massachusetts are tired of listening to Mr. Gengel yell on TV constantly and criticizing our President and Government for not dropping all else to look for his daughter. I am hopeful for this family toobut also realistic. Given we are now six days into this, the possibility of survival for anyone still trapped deep inside the remains of that hotel (other videos up on Youtube shows just how horribly it pancaked) are low and getting lower by the hour. Or put another way, 90% of those who survive earthquakes are rescued in the first 48 hours. Also, there is increasing anger in Haiti about the amount of effort being focused saving foreigners over locals.
I like my tax dollars to go for efforts to rescue Americans like Britney Gengel first. After that then everyone else. There is nothing wrong to rescue you own kind first. I hope she will come out alive, poor girl.

It's tragic and heartbreaking that his daughter is missing, but so are thousands of others! What more can ANYONE do? Lynn University has tons of people that have been searching for day now, for these kids. along with military & firemen. He needs to stop acting like America isn't doing anything. Short of calling Jesus, I don't know what he wants Obama to do that isn't being done already!

No suprise there..

I understand this guy's agony, but it's getting old listening to him. 10's of thousands of people have died and his daughter is most likely one of those. It's agony for all the family and friends who have had loved ones die, and he is no different than anyone else

I want to throw up to hear all of you to care for Haitians more than real Haitians. I doubt if you ever donate anything except some shit comments here on youtube. For almost a week, there has been none of Haiti high ranking officials or President himself talk to or visit their fellow Haitian vistims. that's particularly harsh but i understand where you are coming from and i do unfortunately agree that Gengel hogged ths TV w/ his whining and self centeredness when his daughter's own classmates also perished and they didn't carry on. @Pices31660, he's been on the news less since the weekend, but the Haiti story in general has been getting much less coverage since Monday. As far as I know they haven't found her along with the rest of the people from that college which doesn't bode well. If it wasn't for the overly vocal dad I really don't think her or the other students would have gotten anymore coverage than the all the other lost Americans, news coverage has been careful not to pander to American interests it seems.

The tiny school his daughter is/was attending already retained private rescue services from red24, a pricey U.K. based boutique security services firm (this is the "contractor" we keep hearing about from the school). That means ex M1 and CIA staff who work for red24 are already on site in Haiti and have scoured the entire Montana site inside and out with top urban rescue teams. But no, Obama must now send the entire U.S. Army...

Our hearts break for the pain this family is enduring; however, the people in Massachusetts are tired of listening to Mr. Gengel yell on TV constantly and criticizing our President and Government for not dropping all else to look for his daughter. I am hopeful for this family toobut also realistic. Given we are now six days into this, the possibility of survival for anyone still trapped deep inside the remains of that hotel (other videos up on Youtube shows just how horribly it pancaked) are low and getting lower by the hour. Or put another way, 90% of those who survive earthquakes are rescued in the first 48 hours. Also, there is increasing anger in Haiti about the amount of effort being focused saving foreigners over locals.
