OMG how in the world did I miss this video when I was searching for a way to do this?!! I've done infusions pretty much the same way you have shown here. Never thought about putting the top on the crock pot. I love, love, love, the infused ACV and oils!
I love this. I wanted a starting place for a citric acid, or vinegar rinse for people who want to use cold processed soap to wash their hair. It makes the pH too. High. I know how to thicken the acid rinse, so it would stay on the hair and not go down the drain and preserve it, but smell better? Not so much. You gave me a great idea! Oh, and a polysorbate 20 to keep your linen spray mixed and germall plus (cheap) to use at about 1% to preserve your spray so no germs. I am super impressed.
@Over40Princess Glad I could inspire. As for the polysorbate bit... Yea, you're on your own with that one. LOL! Do let me know how it turns out, though.
I wouldn't put the plastic lid on my jars while heating them. I used mason/canning jars because they are specifically made to withstand the conditions of boiling water. Good luck!
How long, as in how long has this product been sitting in my cupboards? I used most of that stuff within a month and did a new batch a few times more. I haven't used any since I've started my locs. Maybe I need to update.
Yep. I'm already thinking about ways to package them. My biggest concern, however, is how to keep them from going bad. I'll have to look into natural preservatives, I guess.
I most certainly well soon. Regarding your coment to cleanheart25, check out Desaundrea on perservatives, she pretty good bout making products and gives some good tips. watch?v=THSkQLyDQ5Q

guineapig1234 2 years ago
@guineapig1234 I don't consume it in the traditional sense. I use it on my hair.

I bought my herbs, oil and glass jar but when I got home i realized that i have a plastic lid. Will that have an impact on my outcome?

I've been looking for a proper tutorial on how to infuse herbs in oil for hair! Thanks for having this!
Did these oils and the diffused water one end up turning out ok? Did you end up leaving the oils in the slow cooker for 6 hours or 8 hours?
nightingale007 2 years ago
No problem. Though I wouldn't say this is a "proper" tutorial. LOL! I think I left them in closer to 8 hours. Everything turned out wonderfully.
Please be sure to strain your herbs thoroughly before application. I haven't used anything but the oil since I've loced my hair. So far, so good.

Thanks for replying!

Awesome! I love the first combination.
How long did you leave the herbs in the jar for? Did you recently put them in the jar?

Great video! Also, what is the music you have playing in the background? I like that, too.

Thanks. The music is by Osunlade.

How did the acv rinse cocktail measure up? Was it all that you hoped for?
I think I will try the ACV brew in the summer and leave it in my hair as a condtioner.
hollyhollyrose 3 years ago
I'm a religious ACV rinser. Keeps my itchies at bay and it costs pennies.
I washed my hair on Saturday and kept the ACV in for the first time... I still smell it. Not sure I'll be doing that again.
blackphd2b 3 years ago
If you want really nice perfumes, use a high proof vodka. The scent is AMAZING!
AND it stays fresh longer!

Infusions? This is something new to me, I am intrigued to learn more.

They're pretty simple and effective. I'm still learning myself. Will revisit this topic again soon.
