the new 2012 duramax cant even break the tires loose. the 6.7 is the nicest motor i seen ford come out with after the 7.3. i have 7.3 1 ton dully there isnt a duramax that could put the horsepower or torque that it has.

Ford diesels have so many problems since their 7.3 - last used in 2003. My brother-in-law bought 5 duramax trucks in 09 and I saw the employees trying to tear them up but they couldn't. I had to get one. Take off that dpf and let it breathe and the durmax is the best you can get.. AND it rides so much better than any pickup I've been in.

@Drsnafubar no headers, no cams. it does have a flowmaster 2 chamber single in dual out muffler and Bosch +4 titanium plugs but other than that the rest of it is stock. i actually dont know for sure if its actually pushing 400. my dad claims it is. i think its pushing about 300-350. i have driven it and it doesnt feel like its got 400 under the hood.
@AdmiralKakarot Stock was 230 hp and 300 lbft of torque so I think your guess of 300hp is closer to the real figure if not a little over. Probably what he is feeling is the bump in torque. When you mentioned 400 + it piqued my interest cause I read there aren't too many aftermarket parts (performance oriented anyway) for the 4.7. That's why I thought forced induction was the way he went and I wanted know who's product he used

i have both like i said and have ditched my powerstroke for my duramx for pulling my 12,000lb boat tell ya the the truth im just gonna sell my ford could of been your gears on your duramax but in my experince the duramax much better puller my friend and i hooked up earlier he has a 02 4x4 crew cab powerstroke with cold air and bullydog i pulled him all around our lot the 7.3 is a great motor but from personal experience the duramax more powerful andruns much smoother

Powerstroke anything sucks but is in a good truck. Cummins is an awesome motor in a bad truck. Duramax was PARTLY designed by Isuzu and is made in Ohio, USA. They all have faults, but fuck Prius.

I still beat around my dad's powerstroke every once in a while too though? we've got the 06 with a 4.5" donahoe racing lift on 35" open country's with a cat back exhaust and a 7 layer AFE intake and the thing takes and gives a beating! I just drifted the fucker tonight on dry asphalt. things a beast. I think honestly people seems to just have good luck or bad luck with pwerstrokes... my family seems to do just fine.

@Drsnafubar no headers, no cams. it does have a flowmaster 2 chamber single in dual out muffler and Bosch +4 titanium plugs but other than that the rest of it is stock. i actually dont know for sure if its actually pushing 400. my dad claims it is. i think its pushing about 300-350. i have driven it and it doesnt feel like its got 400 under the hood.

@AdmiralKakarot Stock was 230 hp and 300 lbft of torque so I think your guess of 300hp is closer to the real figure if not a little over. Probably what he is feeling is the bump in torque. When you mentioned 400 + it piqued my interest cause I read there aren't too many aftermarket parts (performance oriented anyway) for the 4.7. That's why I thought forced induction was the way he went and I wanted know who's product he used

i have both like i said and have ditched my powerstroke for my duramx for pulling my 12,000lb boat tell ya the the truth im just gonna sell my ford could of been your gears on your duramax but in my experince the duramax much better puller my friend and i hooked up earlier he has a 02 4x4 crew cab powerstroke with cold air and bullydog i pulled him all around our lot the 7.3 is a great motor but from personal experience the duramax more powerful andruns much smoother

Not trying to be a troll, but seriously, Chevys are horrible. I've owned two Silverados in my life, both had low miles, and they both went to shit within a year, under normal driving conditions. Same with my parents and relatives Chevys. My Ford? Not a single problem after five years of hard abuse. Give me the blue oval over that bowtie junk anyday.

@fordguy1991 your right i ahd a explorer for two years and never gave me problem, had two caddys and both gave me problem but never the explorer after taking long drives of roads never gave me issues i miss it

@jaimecruz666 yeah and that's a caddy not a chevy I know GM owns both but still!!!! Also Luxery cars are known for needing alot of maintence comparing to other vehicles!!! but a caddy was made for a more comfy ride Sorry about my spelling
