  • You sound like a 2nd trumpet, due to your lack of power in the upper register

  • I just want you to know you have such a beautiful and rich sound.

  • How did you get your lip trills so fast? I can't do them anywhere near that speed and work on them every day, not improving much at all.

  • man take a much bigger breath, You are just sipping air

  • Doesn't have a very big sound in the upper register.

  • What trumpet is that?

  • @zrohner Yamaha 8310Z Bobby Shew

  • @InnocentGunns I thaught so, because i play that horn. XD

  • amazingg. the highest I can get is the high g... on a good day :D

  • @DrDestroya

There's No GOOD or BAD day..

I also thought like you do.. But well, My Teacher Marco Braito (First trumpet in Rai Turin, and member of the famous GOMALANBRASS) Told me that the 85 per cent of the work we have to do everyday is in our MIND.. THINKING the best sound we wanna reach.. the rest will come with time! ;)

  • Nice job. Good embouchure too. I like how you try to keep the same volume all the way up and down the register.

  • wanna actually explain the exercise?

  • how do you do lip trills? I try it but I just can't do it...

  • Gah, I wish I had that double G. I could've played it in a halftime show. time to practice.

  • That's crazy.

  • Dang....I wish I could hit those highh notes..Lately My lips have been giving up on me really easily..they get tired to quickly..then they sound fuzzy and unclear.. :L What's goingon?! Any tips to help me?

  • @Gamerlol22 try getting a good warm up before you play high notes and dont strain yourself

  • @Gamerlol22 Also, try to check that your embouchure is still the same as it used to be (well centred, lips firmed inwards) - over-practising as well as lack of practise can lead to a change in the embouchure... Another problem could be that you are subconciously using to much pressure whilst playing (this limits range and flexibilty). To avoid the latter, just consciously make and effort to relax whilst playing.

    Hope it helps ;)

  • @TheManicJuggler Thanks :D I will try to keep them centered and practice more !

  • Much better watching the example rather than reading it. Thanks

  • I notice you have definate embouchure changes and resets to go through the octaves, also, what type of mouthpiece are you playing on?

  • @InnocentGunns yes, high notes require less air (volume wise) but more air support will allow you to use less lip muscle, causing the flow to be more relaxed, less pinched. The moment you think you need less air, is the moment you begin to pinch up.

  • Why do you keep taking the horn away from your face? Study Schollsheberg and you'll see what I'm saying. When working on a exercise of ANY kind, whether Vizzuitti, Arban, Clark....it is key that the mouthpiece never move until the exercise is complete. It's called muscle memory. Keep the horn on your chops when playing the Vizzutti exercise, by moving the horn away too often, your set up may not be as exact as before. Just a thought....either way you sound great.

  • @jreyes25 not true. Exercising everything including 'set placement' more realistically addresses every aspect of playing. Also combining variations of exercises to any degree has always been accepted as beneficial. This includes set placement's role even without variation to the instructions in Schlossberg.

  • great man but you look like a kindergarden student with that hat

  • bookmarked.

  • Yep. Vizzutti Volume 1 (Technical Exercises) in the range and endurance section.

  • i agree with braddlesnake1246, another thing that will help is if you practice pppp.

  • you arent putting enough focus on low range stuff, and its suffering from it. If you do more low range, you'll put more air through your horn, and the high notes will sound a lot bigger and better

  • @braddlesnake1246 High notes require less air, not more, contrary to popular belief.

  • @gdsm93 They require more air to keep them steady though.

  • @Benisuber What i'm saying is that you only need a small amount of air to get the note out itself. Sure, you need air to maintain it, but if you use the right technique/embouchure you'll have plenty of air.

  • do u start out by doing regular lip slurs to get the lip trill down?
