  • I've been playing an 8 string recently. I love it.

  • Wow I'm surprised that guy actually mentioned Meshuggah...

  • Infernal Hail from OBNOUNCE/Slovenia, i just love my Ibanez RG2228 8-string guitar...

  • he talks about the 8 string like it can hear him lol

  • Even if I could play one, I just wouldnt like the fatter ass neck. lol

  • 0:32 Meshuggah. ..... Okay, I'll take 2.

  • This is an excellent guitar, but its gonna be a MAD investment if I get it. 2,000 bucks, that's insane lol.

  • dude will worth it ... is really the best 8 string that you can get... and another thing, if you dont like the sound of EMG808 well !!!! BUY a couple of lundgren pickups !

  • @mikaelHD the issue is that the route for emgs is different from other pickups

  • Behind the 8 string it said Chad I Ginsburg! #winning

  • obviously ahould have a guy that can play guitar so he can better explain what the hell he is talking about instead of selling but no guitar experience

  • GONNA BUUYYY!!! :D:D:D

  • this guy should talk about cock sucking, im sure he knows more than about guitars

  • I want to know why, knowing that most people are going to buy this guitar because they dig Meshuggah, Ibanez built it with a 28" neck rather than the 30.5" scale like 'shuggah's guitars. From what I've read the 30" facilitates the proper intonation on the low F# string a hell of a lot better.

  • This guy Ssucks!

  • i wish better bands would get hold of this guitar instead ofi, meshuggah and periphery they suck so bad!!! we are in need of better players for this guitar

  • @SwirlyBrokenHearts You suck so bad.

  • @SwirlyBrokenHearts Wtf ok.... periphery doesnt even use this guitar and meshuggah is heavey as fuck and their amazing. and have you ever heard of tosin abasi??? look him up

  • @DylonIsTehName Tosin Abasi is my hero

  • @DylonIsTehName Misha uses it, but I'm with you..

  • Very, very hard and deep.

  • "Meshuggah, which is a Swedish.. very very hard and deep metal band."

  • I had to rewind about 10 times to hear him say "Meshuggah".

    So freaking funny.

  • @legendofzelda101 Lol,it's funny.He says "Meshoogah"

  • @Pannemat That's the proper pronunciation actually :D

  • that would be a high e not a high a

  • sounds lik a douche, go buy an agile 8 and save like 3-400 bucks rondo music .com

  • @cruzdrum dear god someone else that knows things???????

  • @cruzdrum and get a guitar that is worth that much less. id say get one of the schecter 8 strings

  • @lectwar less value? as in price yes,as in build quality? no,the agile guitars are neck through construction, have a 18to 30.2 scale length, with lends to clarity on the lower strings, the ibby would be better than a shecter, they have a 26,6 inch scale while the ibby has a 27 inch scale.pulus the agile comes in many colors and styles,as well as the choice of a tremalo, passive or active pickups and standered of fanned frets

  • @cruzdrum ive played an agile 28 scale and it was too much for me. I have a rg7321 ibanez 7 string and the scale is very comfortable. So just for scale alone i would prefere a ibanez or schecter over the agile.

  • @lectwar well that makes sense then, but as far as bang for your buck, the agile is better

  • @cruzdrum id say for bang for your buck the schecters are better. Ive held an agile and it felt "cheap"

  • animals as leaders

  • R.I.P Paul

  • How can I trust someone who doesn't know how to setup the gain structure for his microphone?? It overloads during the whole interview.

  • interviewer is pissing me off

guy explains something then the interviewer ask him the questions he just answered what gives?

  • I wish the guy in the background with the trombone/trumpet thing would shut the hell up ¬¬

  • this guy's a fucking tool.

  • Animals As Leaders and After The Burial are the only 2 bands that can use all 8 strings.

  • @SorryArchitect and meshuggah

  • @godsizedhole i haven't much of their stuff. What do you suggest I listen to by them?

  • @SorryArchitect Bleed, Shed, future bred machine, look up meshuggah on youtube and they'll have loads of songs. After the burial are a sick band by the way, Aspirations really influences music in my band.

  • man the neck must be so fat. Too many strings for me.

  • @fridogg Fat guitars need love too.

  • 2 extra strings, MORE than a 6 string?

    OH MY GOD!!!

  • funny watching this stiff say meshuggah, shred machine, shred tool, specifically (lots of emphasis on the A), hard and deep, korn, slow but sure, extended range, done by the rg format (NO SHIT... ITS AN RG!!!), and thin; flat; very fast.

now imagine andy dick in his 50's haha

  • i don't get it, exactly how many strings does this guitar have compared to a 6-string?

  • that guys an idiot

  • mindfuck

  • 6+2=8?!?!?!?! NO EFFING WAY.

  • HARD AND DEEP METAL

  • Anyone string these with a high A string instead? When I heard "8 string", that was my assumption ;-) A high A, for playing all your violin caprices!

  • @intrsoul I'm saving up for one of these, and the high A makes alot more sense to me.

  • When will someone start adding higher strings ?

  • Oh and the guitarist for Scale the Summit has an 8 string with a high F# string or something like that...

  • @alexstypes

    it's actually a high a

  • @Incisionator

there's quite a lot guitarists that do that, for example Rusty cooley

  • If you like 7+ strings, great, continue to post on Seven-String, release your albums no one cares about and be done with it. If you genuinely prefer 7 strings great for you, just dont make jackass remarks about it. No one really cares what you use (except for hardcore metal fans), so why even other make an argument out of it? If your music is so poor you have to rely on the fact that you use more than 6 strings to increase popularity, then why even bother?

  • Hey man, you shouldn't think that ONLY talentless guys use 7 or 8 strings. John Petrucci uses 7 strings a lot and if that doesn't convince you, check out Tosin Abasi/Animals as Leaders...he plays an 8 string and he truly utilizes it, not just for chugs. Give it a listen and give me your imput.

  • jeff loomis plays a seven string too

  • @xADEAN4DIMEx

    chris broderick too

  • I find the 7+ string crowd to be a small group that represents themselves well online, but that is all. They mainly play either boring chugging ala Meshuggah, or tasteless metalcore/indie that no one cares about. The whole reason low tunings are incorporated in metal is because guitarists wanted a darker sound out of their guitars. Not to extend their range. Hence why they tuned down. The Swedish Death metal scene tuned B-B on their 6s, and the American band Demilich even tuned as low as A-A.

  • go learn a meshuggah song then come talk faggot, you couldent keep up with bleed if ur fucking life depended on it

  • there is no way you could keep up with the picking patterns in any meshuggah song and if your so fucking amazing why dont you actually upload some videos

  • @thegr8HarV even if you like challenging, thecnical stuff

a lot of people like meshuggah, cuz ther low and heavy, rarly fast, but

    on heavinest, there preaty cool

  • @thegr8HarV Prove it? Film yourself playing "Bleed" or "Pravus" or "In Death Is Death" By Meshuggah. Prove that you can play meshuggah perfectly if it's not challanging at all.

If you can't do that, don't diss it. You can't say a band sucks just because YOU don't like it. Good day sir.

  • @DcEsp1000 ha jokes on you. i posted that a long time ago and now i think meshuggah is pretty sweet

  • @thegr8HarV jokes on you for being a douche nozzle

  • try the picking patterns of john petrucci. your hands will fall off from the awesomeness. i would upload some stuff but i only have a digital camera recorder thing and the quility is shit

  • love that guitar and i love the RG1527 above it haha

  • strings!?? where??

  • Interviewer: "Tell me about this 8-string guitar"

Representative: "Well it has 2 more strings than a 6 string guitar..."

I can see that genius, lol.

  • You want to go and present the guitar yourself then? Or will you just let the professional representative from Ibanez do his job without your juvenile remarks, lol!

  • @MysticGuitar77 the reply of the interviewer should be "no shit sherlock!"

  • i think they should have had someone else represent and describe the eight string guitar...

  • 20 strings!

  • the guy talking about the guitar reminds me of the radio station boss in airheads

  • i'd like to see a 10 string ibanez

or a 12 string (5 bass string with 7 guitar strings)

  • @benmoonrocks look up viraemia

  • they should make a 16 string that would give some good crunch

  • I really hope it ends here..

Guitars are tuning so low now it just all sounds percussive.

  • well i would really like to see a 9 string but not a lower string but a higher one to get a extended range in both directions

  • @marblcakealsothegame thats the point

  • thats the point

  • next year the nine string!

  • ya i love the 8 string. chris letchford from scale the summit tunes his BEADGBEG its epic

  • shame ibanez will not keep making great instruments. dam pauls a UK distro guy he doesn't even work for Ibanez!

  • hang on, hang on..

So an 8 string has 2 EXTRA strings compared to a 6 string?

  • @roozor haha i was pissin my self when he sed tha..!! :P

  • so wait, an 8 string guitar has 2 more strings than a 6 string guitar? im so confused

  • yea it does it is tuned low to high F#,B,EADGBE

  • ...I'm pretty sure he was being sarcastic when he asked that, since when the interviewer asked the guy what makes it different from a 6-string he said it had two extra strings...

  • Uh yeah, 6 and 2 is 8....

  • 0:27 - 0:29 THANK YOU CAPTAIN OBVIOUS

  • in my opinion that just looks chunky...

  • chunky like "chugga chugga" chunky or are you calling it fat

  • as in like proper wide so yea i guess fat

    lol

  • are lundgrens worth the money over EMG's??? im gona buy this guitar with the hope of replacing the pickups.

  • mas q tu seguro!!!

  • its funny that guys that wear suits everyday but talk about new guitars for metal when they probably dont listen to metal

  • why do you have to dress and look metal to like metal. thats stupid. selling is a business, so they need to be dressed appropriately for a business event.

  • the guys in akercocke, a black/death metal band; actually play in suits.

  • just manufacturers makin some money

  • And for the IDIOTS that think there stupid intrepid WTF ever is better this guitar was designed by team j craft and built in japan ever heard anything about jap guitars?!?!?! They are the BEST how bout team j craft?!?!?! Nope. Didn't think so. Sell your rg2228 to me douche

  • @metaphor777 ibanez fanboy over here thinks hes top shit. poor soul thinking that basswood bodies are the best guitars that exist. i hope that you will one day understand the sciences behind making a guitar and realize that this statement was an jabbering of utter ignorance

  • @deadmetal5000 i like the basswood tone but i know its very soft and dents easily. i believe that mahogany is the best but tonally, ill take basswood 2nd. im just really careful with my prestige because it dents easily and theyre hard to fix. and btw, im an ibanez "fanboy" as well, but im also realistic and know when thinks are both good and bad. i think basswood is bittersweet, only because the tone it nice and low and dark and just souns great and fits what i play

  • Omg corny? Stfu fag and as for you? Meshuggah DOES use 8 string u little pussies are afraid of 8 strings well DONT LISTEN then

  • He said Meshuggah wrong :(

  • I dunno, he reminds me of the guy from Garfield.

  • i dont get this

seven i thought was okay but this? low end my ass

  • these things are around $2,000

if there were un $1,100 i would get one

  • buy an agile intrepid 8, my standard intrepid is better than my 2228 and like 1/3 of the price. better neck, better sound(passives YES!!) and the model up you can get with those disgusting emg 808 pickups and has a neck through and sounds even better...provided you rip out that emg.

  • mkay i safe my aallowance :D

  • i think 8 strings are to expensive

  • agile intrepid 8, my intrepid is better than my 2228 and under $700

  • lol deep metal. lrn2genrelabel or dont label at all

  • i hate you

  • why do you hate me ?´what i have done ?

  • coz u dont like 8 strings

  • sry i meant that the guitar has fixed bridge instead of floyd system...???

  • ya but niwadays i think they have one with zero edge tremolo bridge

  • This is sooo sick.. o.o

  • I take it this guitar is tunable and not locked I hope?

Think I'm gonna buy one soon

  • its tunable not sure about locked though. i hope not. im getting it around november this year woot!

  • does it have floyd?

  • no it doesnt, he clearly said it only has a double locking system with a fixed bridge

  • Are they ever going to make a floyd rose 8 string besides the locking gilbarator?

  • you can modify it by making a nut for it and taking the locking nut off, i'm doing that for my fretless

  • Hahaha the guy on the left is funny

  • i want the dy rg550 in the bg. o.o

  • "very hard and deep" lol im no meshuggah fan but the 8 string sounds sick ie: AFTER THE BURIAL

  • Comment removed

  • Fell silent is pretty decent. but unfortunately for them they were denied entry to the U.S. NO MORE TOURING

  • lol wtf r u talking about

  • theyre wont be able to finish the US leg of the crush em all tour. fuck im blazed

  • Agreed and agreed. Though I have to admit I got sick of fellsilent easily, while I can listen to meshuggah all day long

  • this instrument is like a "whale guitar"

  • you would notice the differece if messhugah didnt have a bassist.

  • Actually, you would. Bass adds a ton of low end to the mix. It's actually a huge misconception that an 8 string guitar gives you all that much bass. That's not entirely the case. It gives more, yes, but not the kind of bass you get from a bass guitar. Bass makes a mix much fuller in the end, but the key is to mix the bass to it's almost unnoticable

But you're right in a way. Their current bassist, Dick, actually has no input in the writing process. He doesn't even lay the tracks. He just tours.

  • yes, I said that you WOULD notice:-)

  • oh lol. my bad. ive seen tons of ppl say u WOULDN'T. it was a reflex.. :O lol

  • its ok, I forgive you;-) I prefere bands that are not as low as 8 strings, for the reason of bass gets lost.

  • ahhh, I see. U mean like 7 string bands? I think the Shug have a nice blend with their 8 strings and their bass. My mixes sound flat without a nice bass track. but I usually mix the bass so that u can't "hear" it, but that if it weren't there, you would notice. That's what I mean.

  • I so wnat one of these but either in a natural finish or a blue swirl paintjob. Probably have to do with the Schecter C-8 till I muster up a grand lol

  • the hellraiser? that thing's sick i just picked my self up the c-6 fr!

  • I´m working so hard for this guitar.... I hope to get it in 3 months. :D

  • "tell me about this 8 string" "well it has two more strings than a six string" lol.

  • 6-string to 7-string is as far as I will go, you don't need 8 strings on a guitar, just get your bass (or bass guitarist) to play those low-octave notes with a range from 4 to 6 strings.

  • Meshuggah

  • I love Meshuggah, but I just don't see myself playing an 8-string guitar nor do I see the point. I think a bass would be better for those low notes while the guitar can play the higher notes.

  • Meshuggah create riffs based on using low and high notes in fast, sequential orders. That can't be done combining a bass and a guitar with two different players.

  • Wait a minute, does Meshuggah have a bass player? I understand what you're talking about.

  • yes, search youtube for

    "meshuggah dick tomas"

    to see how great

  • just admit that you're wrong. Just because YOU can't find a use for 8 strings, does not mean their useless. Stop advertising your personal opinions and taste as fact.

  • I already admitted it, I just said that I (not anybody else) could not find a use in it, I wasn't advertising anything. Don't be a prick, people can text their opinions if they want to, they don't have repel from it because some asshole will make a fool out of them if they do. Chill the fuck out Nazi.

  • So I'm a Nazi because you were forcing your opinion on others? Christ, you have a strange logic train.

  • I just will use it to get heavier riff patterns xD

  • I'm surprised he didn't mention the 1 and 1/2 inch longer neck for the added tone definition and sustain for the low F string.

  • it's an F!? sorry i don't watch the entire vid before commenting

  • it's F sharp, but most tune down to regular F like Meshuggah.

  • either that or i've seen it tuned to G.

  • G? I've actually been doing a lot of drop Eb with mine. A lot of Meshuggah's songs on Nothing are in drop tuning.

I would NOT recommend doing this without an .080 on there, though. Heck, I wouldn't recommend an RG2228 without an 80 even for F lol. Just make sure you pull the saddle back to fix the intonation. The stock .065 they put on there is a joke. It's so damn thin and floppy. I actually now use a .064 for my Bb string! the 7th string! lol. And now it's perfect.
