@TEAMWHITTINGTON in my opinion , that distance from specifically semi pro and pro is smaller these days. d7000 is perhaps all many of us need. go to... freedslr(.)com remove () and take an opportunity to bring home a Brand New Nikon D7000
@jonvideo Change the "movie settings" to 640x480 (because it's normally 720p/HD) if you want to record a maximum of 20 minutes. You should only need an assortment of 5 minute clips to create something awesome.. that is.. unless you're recording a live event that needs an hour of continuous video. Two cameras in different angles would fix that
also, if you wanted to make a really good training video, you should've mentioned that when ppl want to shoot movies, they should adjust the lenses to manual focusing, and focus manually, because D5000 doesnt focus automatically..and also even the "movie" of the ice cream is very very blurry..just an advice though..
i'm sorry but the advice for making a Stop-motion movie is just plain stupid. I know you just tried to make this as easy as it can be (and also the camera has the option in it), but the biggest res of the video is 640x480, which is not NEARLY ENOUGH to make a good res video of ie sunsets or nature etc., so anyone, that has ANY CLUE WHATSOEVER about computers will go, and make (assemble) their stop-motion videos ON THE COMPUTER with the use of software...i give you A for trying though :)
Have you ever tried to hit " paus" during a recording session.Than change your camera possision and continue recording within the same movieclip. This works on every small compact camera, but not this Nikon D5000! Which is bad.
You need to put your clips together in the computer gahh. Am I right?
With stop motion you can go as long as your card will hold. Yes, use a 4 gig card and you should be able to go on for a month depending on the resolution and space between shots
@yucatantonio 5 minutes is the max for video but depending on you mermory card size is how long the stop motion movie will be. stop motion is just pictures.
i thought i'd need a video editing app on my computer to stitch everything together- i didn't realise it was in the damn camera! i'd ignored all the retouching menus as pointless when i've got photoshop at home. that'll teach me!
i got this camera this afternoon and woah! what all i can learn :-) really like the stop action feature that you have explained here. will try it after the semester's over. btw, i have maintenance questions.
1. if i am not using the camera should i detach the lens and keep them separate?
2. also, does it make any difference if i should rest camera on LCD side (lens pointing up) while carrying it around?
Well then, no matter how good a teacher she was, I don't think you would have learn anything without you owning the camera. Out of curiosity, What made you watch the video if you don't own the camera? I'm curious.
@jonvideo i watched the video because i want to know if this is a good choice for a camera before i buy one, and i think i will once i get the money ;)
Is it Wirkung with the d5100 i Cant find the option for create the stopmotion Movie?

Use your composite video out of your camera, through a video to usb adaptor (around $35 or less), and then it will get to your computer.

1. Keep the lens on. Less chance of hurting the camera this way.
2. No, It makes no difference.
Glad you liked the video. Are you referening to our D5000 Training DVDs or the youtube video?
