I am sorry but what you are saying is quite ignorant. Religion is reflected by society, geographic location, and ideals of the time. It is the same with Christianity and Islam. As with ever other religion in the world. Please read and try to understand before you pass judgement on others. A true Hindu must have knowledge and a clean mouth.
They are neem leaves. There are many explanations as to why they are considered sacred, but it is generally believed to represent several Goddesses. Neem is also very good for your health.
IN TAMIL amman or the mother goddess is regarded as veppilaikkaari(goddess of neem)thus the tamil's use it both in worshipping the devi and also for medical purpose.
Thank you for sharing this. What is the name of the movie?

The way they portray Mata so hideosouly is foolish...The first Kali Mata picture ever painted reflected beauty not ugliness.

I agree, this movie does not portray the Goddess in a good light. It simply shows her as a distant punisher of sins.
Still, however, I enjoy this song....but the movie it belongs to is not very good. (in fact it's not good at all)
