  • hi,

    ok my truck is chevrolet suburban after 94' is a 97' sow i can remplace the injection pump myself???

    whitch your advice for the ip timing

    i posted a video you can see how my truck make

    let me know

    sory for english.

  • @defalcon007 I don't see why not, you'll need to pick up one of "enghs motor" modules specifically for the 6.5 TD for doing the final timing. If you check out dieselplace com there may even be somebody near you who can loan you one. I'll have a look tomorrow to see if they have a good article on replacing the IP pump and PM you the link. Mine is still dismantled so I can't produce a video for that yet.

  • @TheWreckingYard FYI I was wrong about the Engh Motors test module, it is only for the 94-95 model year.

    you understand why I want to do it myself.

    can you help me.

    sorry for my english .

  • @defalcon007 Installing the injector pump does take a while you have to remove the intake, WP, timing cover and IP gear, what's difficult is setting the timing. I'm assuming that you've got a GM/Chev 6.5L diesel, in that case if I remember correctly pre 94 diesels were non-computer controlled and are very difficult to set the IP timing on, apparently they recommend that it only be done by the dealer.

  • @TheWreckingYard Computer controlled ones (like mine) you just have to get close and then you can use a dongle I picked up from a guy out your way, that connects to a computer that helps you get the timing right once the engine is running. There's a very good diesel forum for GM trucks called dieselplace com, that has very good descriptions of how to properly setup your IP, very helpful people as well.
