As a proud IU alum from the Knight years I can say that Bobby Knight is still raging egomaniac and an embarrassment to IU. Coach K is a great coach (he played for Knight at Army and was an Asst. under him at Indiana btw) and a really nice guy. But honestly, Bob Knight is the better coach between the two. He racked up his wins in a shorter time than Krzyzewski, and with a worse team (TTech) to end his career.
I often wonder if Knight would have ruined Larry Bird. I saw Knight ruin a couple players when I was a student at IU in the mid-80s. He just abused these two players, really fucked them up. Bird was recruited by Knight and enrolled at IU to play ball for him, but Bird left school before practice began. I was a news reporter before I got out of the biz... one thing that a lot of reporters do, especially rookie reporters, is they'll ask a question, any question- because they feel they have to get involved... even if it doesn't make sense. Sometimes, they'll throw something out there solely in the hopes of an unusual response. I can totally understand why Knight would get so angry. The questions are often irrelevant. Ironically, these reporters rarely played sports at all. It's funny.
i personally loved playing for coaches like bob knight, coaches who were so blunt about things...
we had a walk on that quit after our head coach gave him a number he didnt want then bitched him out about how hes not getting paid shit to play, how he aint nobody... i thought it was funny as fuck... our guy was disciplined. i wish more coaches were like this now days but everyones all afraid to get reported n shit like that

i dont think he really snapped, until right at the end there. and even that wasnt really a snap. he was just frusterated at the loss. i like his response to that one reporter. "well what do you think?"

I was a news reporter before I got out of the biz... one thing that a lot of reporters do, especially rookie reporters, is they'll ask a question, any question- because they feel they have to get involved... even if it doesn't make sense. Sometimes, they'll throw something out there solely in the hopes of an unusual response. I can totally understand why Knight would get so angry. The questions are often irrelevant. Ironically, these reporters rarely played sports at all. It's funny.

i personally loved playing for coaches like bob knight, coaches who were so blunt about things...
we had a walk on that quit after our head coach gave him a number he didnt want then bitched him out about how hes not getting paid shit to play, how he aint nobody... i thought it was funny as fuck... our guy was disciplined. i wish more coaches were like this now days but everyones all afraid to get reported n shit like that
