audionautas. com/2010/09/how-to-wreck-nice-beach-dave-tompkins.html Now everyone reading this will know that the voicing of the Cylon Centurions from BSG:TOS was done on an EMS Vocoder 2000 and NOT on a Sennheiser Vocoder VSM201!!!
Yes someone 6'6 would be able to wear it, and sound effects are added into the film after filming is complete, but I have used a powered speaker system for the eye scanner in the chest piece.
I just can't get over in how DETAILED the Cylons were in post production, from the lights shining on the chrome to the "smudged" look of the bulb scanner behind camera and all the ribbing and patches on the undersuit, and the VOICES, definitely the most expensive and impressive robot costumes in Sci Fi history. I was most influenced by the Cylons of BSG since KINDERGARTEN!!!
Hey gold cylon! Im on the verge of spending up big on my own cylon suit! I recently purchased a 24 led light and rack system for the roving eye & Ive found a contact who produces the armour from the orginal molds due to his network of contacts! Plus Intro mix has been most helpful in guiding me to find the armadillo gloves, skirt and specific boots! Oh yeah!!!
Exciter1000, if you are contemplating replicating a Cylon costume there are a number of ways to go about doing it. First, I'll say it is fun piecing it together, 2nd, Some friends, and I, have all the knowledge you need in bulding one from scratch including websites and other info.
The armor is the same material as the imperial stormtroopers. But the Cylon costume has to be one of the MOST COMPLEX costumes ever, from the armor, to the eye scanner, skirt, belt, undersuit ribbing, and if you want to get technical.....THE VOICES!!!!!
Oh,I see Intromix,so they are cast in something like PSB plastic (?),which has no problem letting chrome stick to it.I was under the impression Only metals can be chromed?..Interesting,very interesting. I possess no great knowledge of the process or its applications so thats why Im curious about it and asking questions. Thanks!
Lol! Yeah Probably eh?! Could you tell me though, what material did the orginal costume makers use for the body armour pieces itself? Where they fashioned from real stainless steel metal and then dipped in chrome or were they contructed using fibreglass?
Its funny how it looks similar to the one i worked on at Area51.But more advanced using nano technology.

Does it make the "Cylon" sound?

Ah, for the days when a Cylon was a CYLON, and not some oversexed bottle blonde or spindly battle droid wannabe.
Good work!

Nice suit. Where's the music from?
ChurchHatesTucker 4 years ago
The music is by TV Junkeez
goldcylon 4 years ago
Is it available for purchase in the states?
Wouldnt want to illegally pirate music after all.
ReverendSyn 4 years ago
A legal version is no longer for sale, except maybe an old cassette on eBay now and then.
goldcylon 4 years ago
Heh. The RIAA goes out of it's way to screw with filesharing and punish downloaders, yet doesn't even TRY to make stuff available.
ReverendSyn 4 years ago
I thought that dog was gonna take a whiz on him in the first part of the vid. That would make for a rusty cylon.
AllhailtheUS 4 years ago
The original tune with a dance beat. Very very poor chosen. And filming a static model isn't exciting at all.
But I do love the suit.
