  • @chicken7085 look at the fin. If it points down its a female. If it is going down its belly its a male

  • hey how can you tell if they are male and female because i am getting some this weekend and i want them to mate plz repsond if u do it would be great i really want to know

  • I hate fishbowls

  • is that a fcking one gallon bowl..? and theres like 4 platies in there. tats like shoving you in a box with 3 other people.

  • @julianamun Yeah, that is the FIRST thing I thought when I saw this. Quite honestly I haven't even watched to video yet because I couldn't believe someone would do this, the rule is 1inch per gallon! The tank should probably only have 1 platy in there, maybe 2 if that thing holds more than a gallon of water. This person is clearly not responsible enough to handle even the easiest of pets.

  • why are they always RED?! my so-called platies have cool patterns and all of the other platies i see are either red or some weird color so can i have some help? :/

  • I have 1 male platy and 5 females and he is defidently trying to mate because of that i decided to name him Player. lol

  • how do you get them to mate i have had mine for a bout a week and still nothin please write back

  • Hey dude nice hi-fins! :D

I have this problem every single time.

I have a nice looking maale that i wanna breed with another nice-looking female such as male mickey with doublesword female but the male just won't fertilise the females.

Ammonia, nitrite and nitrate are all either 0 or safe zone(can't remember) and pH is 7.2. Tips?

  • s it ok that after my platty mait i can give like 2 of the females away because i dont want them to mait again i dont want like a million babies im just asking for like a few and how many eggs dose it lay each time?

  • @devonmeloan They dont lay eggs, they actually give birth to live young anywhere from 30 to 60 days from mating. They also have between 30 to the most i had was 98 young.

If you dont want anymore as they are prolific breeders then I would suggest all males no females. They are better off with 1 male every 2-3 females.

    HTH s

  • dude how do u get them to mait plz respond i really want either my platty or guppie to mait plz respond with some info

  • @devonmeloan as long as the water is good and the temp is good and you have males and females they will mate on their own. I have had over 400 babies now which have all grown and been sold on.

  • There also is only 1 pregnant female in the tank.

  • No its not its a 60lt biorb its fine. the babies are transfered to a nursery tank until they are big enough to sell to a pet shop.

  • If that tank is less than 10gl, not from me, but ur going to get so much hate for having so many pregnant in such a small tank.
