Hey "booser636", not only that but why even have two trumpt players? That's unnecessary.
I also don't see the need to show off like they did. It started out pretty but then they ruined it. See my band's new video "In Lieu Of Bessie" if you want to hear how to properly play a nice ballad.
show off?? SHOW OFF? one would think, after 50 years of successful career in music you could have the privilege to be in front on stage. and we are talking here about freaking DIZZY GILLESPIE, are you utterly insane? it's not showing off, it's called virtuosism and if you think you can play a ballad better than either Arturo Sandoval or Dizzy Gillespie then I'd like to see your name printed SOMEWHERE.
you honestly think that youre better?!?! I checked out your channel and it was a waste of my time. How to properly play a nice ballad?!?!?! is this a joke??? I cant believe you had the nerve to say that, you have no respect for proper playing or for Jazz in itself. you said that you picked up where Miles Davis left off and took it to new heights?? wow, you really need to shut up and open your eyes to amazing jazz trumpet playing and just trumpet playing in general.
Take it easy, "sauvemir". I saw "number1trumpet's" videos and they weren't THAT bad. I don't really listen to jazz music, but it seemed like they knew what they were doing.
have you atleast played Jazz music? & typically I dont get like that... it just REALLY bugs me that he comes on here and thinks hes all that, and then has the nerve to say that 2 famous trumpet players are "showing off"...
That was Dizzy's trademark, a result of decades of playing trumpet the wrong way. His other trademark, of course, was his unique trumpet design with the bell angled up.
that last high note arturo sandoval played towards the end is a 4th octave G. so thats nothing! i can play so high like a piccolo flute that it sounds like im singing with birds!!!......................................in my dreams LOL!
ok discard that comment. anyways ive never heard trumpet notes that high! im amazed! but dizzy was more of a master here since hes older and more experience! but both superb trumpet players.
Thats all during night in tunisia right, and wat is the song he played on piccolo it was amazing the whole thing was, they are both excelent musicians some of the greatest the world has ever seen.
The upturned one? It is one Dizzy had specially commissioned, supposedly the upturn changes the sound but to me it seems it would only cause a more shaky sound because the final pipe going to the bell would only have one support.

There's no question that Dizzy was outplayed here; however this is not too surprising at all as in his age his chops were deteriorating and all. As a trumpet player myself:
Some musicians play good and it inspires you to play.
Some play so good it makes you depressed.
Some play good in a way that you just feel that it's good that it exists and the question about where you stand yourself becomes strangely irrelevant.
That's how good Arturo Sandoval is.

Well..this is a meeting of two of the greatest trumpet players of all time....Dizzy Gillespie is FANTASTIC. I saw Arturo last year in Vancouver, and I have to say, his act is incredible.
