Cali teachers rank #1 paid in the USA by almost 20% compared to the next best paid teachers and still they always want more. LAUSD students score near the bottom nationally and LAUSD is a global joke in the worlds educational circles. Even Villaraigosa sees the farce that is LAUSD!

Enrollment drops every year and their budget explodes every year. What gives?

The salaries that are saved by using required volunteers should be used to create a "Welfare Audit & Monitoring Administration" . If recipients have cell phones, cable and auto that value more than $5,000 - their benefits need to be reduced and/or terminated permanently.

But, either the unions have to get on the reality bandwagon ... or the California Voters will have to get a clue and fire any politician who will not make the hard decisions.

A combination of taxes being smaller due to the housing price avalanche.

The public unions reluctance to make realistic concessions.

Forced health care by the feds for illegal's, and then not reimbursing California.

And mostly "Greed" .. If you take and honest look at the pay and benefits of California Teachers, Firemen, Sheriff's and Prison Guards ... then look at any other state ... you'll see why we're bleeding red so bad.

Anyone have info on why California is in much dire financial troubles compared to other states? Any specific instances or reasons? I heard the housing was part of it but troubles did appear before the crisis even started.
