@Aerodynamisch tales of the abyss.....i've been playing it for 22 hours in the last 5 days and i still can't get into it as much as other rpg(* cough* ff7) so will it get any more interesting? and there is one think i didn't get, are you supposed to find fof for artes yourself or will they come up after a number of uses ?
@thecomputerist Ah no worries. There is not a big time leap in Abyss. Nothing noteworthy. I am a big fan of the Tales of series, 22 hours in is pretty far, the game took me about 38 hours or so.
Throughout the game the characters grew on me, and there are some twists and turns.
FOF artes are hard at first for me too. Some skills can be upgraded by activiating them inside a colored circle. One good combo is Guardian Field inside a blue/ice circle which gives you the powerful Guardian Frost!
@Aerodynamisch i understand how fof word when you have them for an arte and it tells you use this fof for another move, but for other artes you don't have it, so do you have to find it yourself?
@thecomputerist Yea, you have to experiment with it. If you go in the skills menu, you see the element of the skill (Fire/Ice etc.) and that gives you a clus which color FOF to use. But not all the skills are able to turn into a FOF.
Normal skills are gained by leveling up and later on doing some sidequests.
I spammed the hell out of Raging Blast, Guardian Field.
@Aerodynamisch but wait. caracity cores give you the a plus of their attribution when you level up, so if you have a c core for +1 p attack and you level up you get another 1 to your normal parameter level up, and does enhancement level up on it's own ? i've been searching for so long, but i couldn't find anything. thanks for the help man !
@thecomputerist Cap Cores are items for stat bonuses. Nothing to do with skills/spells. You can find the Cap. Cores. Later in the game you get some better ones which have +3/+4 on multiple stats.
@Aerodynamisch i need to phrase my questions better, but anyway, so they give you more of one/multiple stats when you level up, but what about enhancement, does it grow when you level up or do you need to use c cores ? and i knew that it has nothing to do with artes....BTW where did you learn all this from, since the game doesn't do such a good job in explaining it, have you by any chance played any kingdom hearts games ?
@thecomputerist Ah no worries! I have to say I just equipped them and thought that they lead to one-time only stat increase. But GameFaqs states it is indeed a stat boost for each level up.
@Aerodynamisch well.....i saved ion and natalia in daath and took the ship and went to that port thing in snowy side villager and there is nothing about it....they haven't taught me anything except fof and even that they didn't do a good job at....i guess that's how most rpg are you have to figure stuff out and search for it, like the elusive mayfly known as love exits the cocoon in it's new body and spreads it's wi potato
As you know I got Tales of the Abyss as soon as it came back in stock on shopto.net and it is the portable game I am currently playing. Great game thus far but don't think I will love it as much as Vesperia but we'll see.
I think I might pre-order Tales of Grace F on videogamesplus as well since there is nothing out in March I want besides Mass Effect 3. Have The Last Story limited edition pre-ordered and hope to be getting FF XIII-2 Crystal Edition this week.
Regarding Nocturne and DDS, for me it was the opposite, while I enjoyed what I played of DDS(after beating Nocturne) I wasn't as drawn to play it as I was with Nocturne, maybe it had to do with the beginning of Nocturne which if anything proved that nothing was sacred and really set the stage for a bizarre journey, you can just tell a story that starts as most would usually end is bound to be interesting.
Awesome pick ups as always, I've been looking for SMT Devil Survivor, a dream game for me, being a fan of both the Megaten series and the character designer of that title and it's sequel(Suzuhito Yasuda), plus I'm very close to finishing Strange Journey(with over 140 hours, I can't help but do all sidequest/explore/grind like crazy) and I want another handheld SMT game to play next. Is the PAL version of Metal Gear Solid(GBC) as hard to find as the American one? cause I would love to try it.
Really great pickups! I still need to get an iPhone! Devil survivor is one i need to play as well. I'm happy about the vesperia update, itll give me a bigger reason to grab it. Lucifer's call seems very cool but, like you said, im worried i wont be grasped by the story. Another Code: R seems unique, ill try and find a way to play it! Of the Operation Rainfall games, The Last Story is the game im most interested in, looks really cool! Nice bunch of games you've been playing recently, Aero! :)
@gibbotron09 Vesperia is still my favorite console RPG of this generation. Lucifer's Call is more gameplay than story and progess is slow but gameplay is top nothc.
The Last Story is one of my most anticipated games of early 2012 for sure1
Pretty good pick ups I must say. : ) Steins gate.. Oh how much I would like to play that. There isn't a version for android phones is there? Probably not.. Still glad to hear that you are enjoying it that much.
LoL, speaking about Bayoneta, you just reminded me that I have to finish it as well. And that Tales of the Abyss too. Like you once said, so many games and so little time.^^
Awesome games! After watching this video I went ahead and imported Another Code: R. I love Cing and I'm sad that they're no longer around. I look forward to playing it....you really got me excited. Thanks!
@KiraismyLord I have been reading the reviews which don't sound to good, but hey we all know western reviewers hate JRPGs. Famitsu gave it a 39.40 and I look forward delving into the game. It looks like there is a lot of awesome gameplay. Story I hope will be entertaining. I prefer big party teams and this looks like only a two man crew thorughout the entire game.
It will be shipped this week so I hope I get it ASAP!
@YuseiChocolate Steins Gate was fantastic. On my final save it showed 23 hours. But I can speed read. I hate games where I cannot put scrolling text on instant!
There is one CG that you can get by restarting a new game, the final one. I did get all the other videos though? Did you get all the endings?
@Aerodynamisch Actually I think I did get it all. I got that final CG ( the cake one?) and all I have left are these squares with static in them for both that and the videos.
omg. They only released Ponyo & Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind on bluray here in america. I want all those films you just showed on bluray! I cant wait to see The Secret World of Arrietty next month in theaters! Kinda weird that its a brand new go to see in theaters movie over and here and yet you own it on bluray >.>
wow that sucks that you cant get overclocked because of region lock. I even bought smt overclocked and i dont have a 3DS yet because im waiting for a 3DSXL or a new version. I will be getting tales of abyss at launch as well because its going to be one of those OOP games that will cost $60+ once i finally get my 3ds. Also, im glad i kept my DSLite to play the last window i bought from you since the dsixl is region locked. Smaller screen but better than nothing.
@Ayob14 Oh yea, forgot DSi XL has a region lock. Lucky you are still able to play it. Too bad about Overclocked. I am lokoing forward to SMT DS 2. I will watch the 8th day on youtube one day.
Woah they just released a new film!? Interesting. Anyway great update/pickups. I freaking loved Castle in the Sky. Also good luck in trying out Musashi Samurai Legend as well, I own the game and I enjoyed some of it, especially how awesome the intro is.
You don't need to regret Pier Solar! Hehe. Watermelon just opened a new webstore called WM Magical Game Company. They have the reprint edition back in stock at regular price, and are also selling the soundtrack with a bonus of the Sega CD disk included. So if you still want to play it, you can get it cheap again.
@Aoi1976 I saw that! Well to bad for the buyer who spend three times as much. I watched an LP of Pier Solar and while it looks like a good RPG it is by no means a OMGWTFBBQ THE BEST EVER 16 BIT RPG EVER MADE!

@Aerodynamisch I'll see if I can try the game. There's so many good titles that came out in such a short time it's really difficult to even afford all of them and have the time to play any lol. I can't to try out MGS Ghost Babel. I just beaten MG2: Solid Snake so I'm finally done with the MSX titles. Seeing how good of an impression the MSX titles left on me I don't see a problem playing another 2D MGS. Also MG Acid 1&2 are really good so you should indeed try them out.
Great to hear that you finally really enjoyed Xenoblade :) Although I only played it 10 hours so far, I really enjoyed it, at one point I just played for fours hours and just did secondary missions, and still it was so much fun! Gonna play it again soon. The Ghibli Movies are great, have seen all of them except of the last one you showed. I think it wasn't shown in Germany in the cinemas :/ Great video :)
@SoLachtAusVollemHals 10 hours was the point where I initially gave up. But after a while I got back into it and I really enjoyed it. It takes a while to get into.
Ghibli movies are fantastic. One of my favorite movie related things!
Wow, you definitly finished a lot of games. I only finished Alan Wake, still a great game! And I see you're still into shmups, Ikaruga is such a good game, but it became so expensive :/ February will be hardcore for most people... And I didn't even finished Xenoblade, Zelda and Skyrim yet T.T The MGS for the GBC seems to be a good collectors item.. Bayonetta is kinda weird, I'm not quite sure if I should like or hate it :D I like Asura's Wrath more. Zelda is great fun, even I as a Zelda-Hater l
@SoLachtAusVollemHals Love myself some shmups! had a Treasure weekend in January and finished four of their games. Awesomeness for sure. Although I do prefer CAVE.
Febraury and March is no fun. The Last Story, FF XIII-2, MGS HD LE, Tales of Graces F, SMT DS 2. Insanity!
Oh, and I hate you and I'm probably going to go as far as unsubscribing after you showed the most recent Blu-Ray Studio Ghibli additions to your collection. :)
Just kidding. But really, super jealous American over here!
@relewis2011 LOL! I hate how USA/NA is treated with Studio Ghibli. I bought a regionfree Bluray player last year so I could buy the Blurays from Criterion Collection which are region-locked from NA.
I've been waiting for a decent RPG on the 3DS, and since I've never played the PS2 version of the game, I may need to get the game down the road. Hopefully the game doesn't become a difficult game to find, though! Radiant Historia goes for $70+ now, so I don't want another situation like that! LOL.
Glad you enjoyed Bayonetta! I got to the giant boss that you fight in the ocean, and then I rage-quit. Haha, so I plan to restart on a lower difficulty soon! :)
@relewis2011 Tales of the Abyss is the best JRPG for a while. There will be one easily topping TotA and that is KH 3D. Looking forward to that one.
4 hours into Radiant Historia now. Very interesting RPG with multiple timelines and decisions opening up choices/paths in the other timeline. Solid turnbased gameplay as well. It is however very expensive.
Bayonetta was a solid game!
Xenoblade, 60 hours is a long game and the first 12 are slow to undestand the game, but awesome story for sure!
I'd like to thank you for recommending Hotel Dusk and Last Window when you did your video on them. I got both games for my birthday and loved them both. I also got Trace Memory and Again but haven't played them yet. I found out Another Code actually takes place in the same universe as Hotal Dusk but is the gameplay that much different?
@SoukerWorldGaming No problem! I love the CING games. I have only Again waiting on me. I researched what the cing members are up to but nothing tangible.
