The missle shield will be a good thing, I don't want to be burned now by radiation fares when a nuke hits Britian. Plus there a bigger threat than anything else, Dame you Einstein why build Nukes.
as an American citizen, my government got mad when Russia went to put missiles in Cuba,so i don't think my government should put there missiles in Russia's? back yard too.
Yeah I think it's disgusting. The Poles fought bravely with us defending the skies during the battle of Britain and they love the west. I just hope the UK doesn't abandon them. We didn't in WW2 and alot of them are here working with us so we have now got to know them.
Their worthy allies who shouldn't be used as a chess piece
This missile shield thing was purely another exercise of power between Russia and United States. People who talk about greater safety or whatever with the defenses there or not must realize that war in Central Europe is no longer possible, really. Russia won't invade anybody, no matter how aggressive they get. Central Europe is not the same as Georgia or Chechnya or the Middle East or even the Balkans (which are pacified now).
mcdonaldmachine is an idiot. president Obama did the right thing. Restarting the cold war is not in the United States interest. The missile shield provoked Russia unnecessarily and was a bad idea. It's nice to have a rational intelligent President now, instead of the Nazi dangerous team of Bush Cheney. Thinking like mcdonaldmachine and the whacky Neo-Conservative right will lead us into a nuclear war. President Obama has restored America's credibility in the world. Great move!
Obama is a coward and Putin told him what to do. We do not have a real leader. poland is an ally and we let them down. Our FRIEND Poland wanted the shield. Our ENEMY Russia did not. This issue speaks for itself. The BS from Obuma means nothing. Our friend Poland asked for the shield.
@mcdonalmachne, but now Russia will scrap plans to site missiles on the EU border in Kaliningrad. So now they both have scrapped missile defence plans. Everybody wins.
parionia, but hey thats mankind for you.. if thier was a war us UK whould get it first, the briyish love to lick ass ha kinddin. we r the piggys in the middle
I am interested in knowing what real Europeans think about this move anyone out there from England,France,Germany...? What do you think of this? Good ? BAD?
I'm from Poland and actually I was never convinced that the idea of missile shield in the previously considered form was really necessary. On the other hand I was in favour of participating in it, in order to maintain our good relationship with the US. It would probably affect our relationship with Russia, but it's pretty rubbish anyway.
The limited programme allows us to maintain good relationship with the US and not piss Russia off so much - basically I think it's good for us....
The public in Poland was divided when it comes to the missile shield idea, many people simply didn't have an opinion, since the problem was never explained and discussed properly. There was a small movement of people being against it. In Czech Republic though, this movement was much stronger - I don't know the polls, but I guess most Czechs were strongly against it. In other European countries I don't think it really was a big issue, maybe in terms of the relationship between the EU and Russia.
Thank you for answering my question. I did not imagine that the Polish people felt so secure about Russia. I always imagined that because of Russia's past aggression ,that you would be more weary of them.
kalciah: Hey wassup wid it, Im from California. I actually wanted to talk to a Polish person about this missile shield thing. Now that we are not going to do the missile shield do u think Russia will start to have more influence in your country? Do u think u would have been safer with our military presence?
The missile shield, in my opinion, was about very theoretical and at the moment improbable dangers, at least when it comes to Russia. We are a member of NATO now, an important member of the EU as well. We are pretty safe. The real dangers from Russia are rather economic and regarding energy resources (we depend in a huge extent on their gas deliveries, but they can't really stop them forever, since we also are a transit country in deliveries to western European countries...
and Gazprom simply needs to sell the gas anyway). War is not a serious risk. Poland is now in the best place in it's history since the XVIIIth century. That's why our officials and citizens weren't afraid to support the Orange Revolution in Ukraine in 2004, and Georgia in last year's war.
This situation proves that America is now not that interested in strenghtening it's relationship with European allies. But I think America is NOT our most important ally - it is and should be the EU. As strong and as united as possible EU. Russia should become our partner and our government realises that. Having a normal dialogue with Russia is pretty difficult though, since there is no real will on their side to admit their historical sins and to finally accept that Poland is independent and...
...and to finally accept that Poland is independent and will walk the path we've chosen 20 years ago. Our previous government (2005-2007) was also diplomatically reckless when it comes to Russia, to be fair.
Why these comments on youtube need to be so damn short? ;)
Good, excellent, next move will be to shut down the airforce bases, the naval facilities, the army too can go. Full global dominance is what America wanted, and fortunately, the world has seen fit to resist that plan.
I am with you. I do not want any more billions of dollars going to Poland and other nations . We are fighting here to stop ALL aide to Poland. Many people agree that nations should take care of themselves.A resolution should be passes that it be illegal to help any country even if they request it. There is a big movement here for Isolation from the rest of the world's issues. America has enough of everything,we can defend our own country and spend our money on our own citizens.
unfortunately for the western warmakers (such as obama) our brothers in Poland will never let this shit happen. Our agenda in Poland is so huge, we could mobilize special forces to infiltrate the US embassy in less than half an hour, so if I was "the most influential man on Earth", I wouldn't make this kind of hasty decision. Just a piece of advice for this "big guy" ;)

On September 17, 1939 Stalin's Russia stubs Poland in the back and on September 17, 2009 Obamas America does the same.
