Ok, a few months ago, while i was asleep, a large photo I have of myself hanging up in my home....the glass suddenly SHATTERED. Now, I live alone, with a cat, but no reason can I see why it should've happened. @AnimeROL Hi, I think I've always had a curiosity about the paranormal really and it was probably the early TV shows with ghost hunting groups that showed how easy it was to get started in your own ivestigations. Myself and a friend of mine decided to try filming something in night vision on evening, we captured something and thats how it all started really. You dont really need a great deal to start, a simple dictaphone and whatever cameras you have will certainly get you started

@popazz1 Anything that records sound can pick up EVPs and I personally prefer old cassette recorders because they seem to produce more background noise for the EVP to sit in. Its thought "in theory" EVP quite often appear because existing background noise is somehow manipulated to form words. How or who is manipulating is another question. I didnt have any training, its all self taught. I found trial and error in finding what works for me helped a lot as everyone has there own methods

I had been doing EVP recordings alot lately, and I get very good EVP's at times,but lately they have not been very good..But, even though their not good, they always tell me they are evil and to leave, and get out..Since then, I have stopped doing EVP's because I have been noticing strange things like unusual sounds, things not where they should be,shadows and such.I have also noticed wife and I fight more and family is uneasy..Since I quit, family has been slowly restoring and doing better.

A few coworkers and I made some recordings one night in the jail. At the time we were just goofing around mostly and never expected to hear anything. We were wrong. We had recordings that night of 2 different voices, one male and one female. I became stricken with "EVP fever" after that and couldn't get enough of it. After hearing some of my recordings one night I got reallyworried about what I was hearing. I now believe we are recording demons, and they tell us what we shouldn't be hearing.

I very much believe in spirits. I have often asked myself these questions: When we die, do some of us choose to stay behind? Do we actually go to heaven or some other type of holding area until God is ready for us? Do some spirits sneak out and back to our life as ghosts to play pranks?

Yes thats how a ghost box works, it rapidly scans the frequencies without stopping and its this particular make that has that popping noise as it goes through, and its thought that the background noise of small snippets of radio stations and white noise is what allows the evp to form

well that was very informative. I enjoyed those answers and your questions. the possibilites are limited aren't they, you respect them and when you get spirits who wanto answer instead of fight amongst themselves, its very productive. So I have heard them almost shocked that they had been seen, no I know why. Lots of background music dramatics...lots of questionables...you hear what you want to hear on this one for me...am not a sceptic...would like to know about the location and backgrund homework, then EMF testing research...did nothing for me....
On future videos, I hope to be incorporating more devices that measure various things including EMF and ultrasound, I do measure for spikes in EMF regularly though.

Now you see why I ask for words or phrases to be repeated back to me. There have been a lot of scientic studies into EVP and other subjects believed to be paranormal in nature. Most people are not aware of these studied. Sad indeed.
Agreed, I try to use control questions in every session, asking them to repeat something back to me. Most of the time it is repeated which leaves 2 possibilities for the source.
The 1st source being, randomly hitting the exact word or phrase you are looking for at that exact moment at time whilst using a rapidly scanning device that only plays milliseconds of a certain channel.
The other possible source is that something intelligent hears us and repeats what we ask
From those 2 possibilities, through expereince and repeatedly hearing the correct answers, surely the randomness of an ever changing frequency scanner becomes less and less of a possibility through probability alone.
This leaves the theory of an intelligent entity. Although, personally I believe most are spirit, I can never rule out other possible entities communicating.
But until there is definitive proof, no possibility can be ruled out.

melarry, I'm not refusing to believe in anything. I'm just skeptical (hey, it's that word!) to these fantastical claims that have no evidence or proof. I always ask questions, and Highspirit was even kind enough to reply. Admittedly my comments may come across as a touch too blunt, but I only have 500 characters and they run out pretty quick, so I lose a lot of "I believe" and "think", making the comments come across as more dominant than observant. Never my intention to be obnoxious.
Skepticism is a position of rational doubt. You were saying everyone who is involved in this is an uneducated dolt who just doesn't "accept" reality. You are, as I hear so many other academics do, employing an intellectual conceit that itself goes against the scientific method. The vast majority of EVP has nothing to do with "ghost boxes" which are highly controversial things it would take a lot of time to explain. What people are doing is employing a theoretical model. No one goes up to a scientist testing some theory and says, "account for it!" I don't know WHAT causes the actual EVP voices. I know they are there. It's fine for amateurs and curious people to sit in their rooms and play about with a radio and have fun, but for there to be an organisation clearly advocating the belief in ghosts, telling grieving people that they're real, and science has no explanation? I find that morally wrong.

My ego has nothing to do with anything, and I'm certainly not harbouring some secret belief in this. As for my sudden interest in ghostly voices from beyond, my sister has been reading a book about Derek Acorah and recommended it to me. I found the book and its author laughably moronic, but realised that people held a strong conviction in that spirits and ghosts exist.
So, reading up and listening to everything I can, the conclusion is clear; EVP is rubbish. Pareidolia mixed with probability.

Excellent job-I too have caught some class A evps -one from a relative in her own voice- I have caught several ghosts who like to get in the way when you are trying to talk to someone coming through-have you ever ran into this?? even down to telling me to leave.
I do hear all sorts on the ghost box, a lot of the time I hear them talking to each other. I agree though it can be difficult sometimes when you are trying to talk to one voice as others are all trying to come through at the same time. Sometimes I simply ask them to take it in turns or for the strongest voice to take on the role of a kind of spokesperson. It doesnt always work though lol
I hear "accident" very clearly and "To the light" less so but still I can hear what you've heard. The other EVP you have identified I can't hear or else believe they may as easily be random blips of sound.

Its thought "in theory" EVP quite often appear because existing background noise is somehow manipulated to form words. How or who is manipulating is another question. I didnt have any training, its all self taught. I found trial and error in finding what works for me helped a lot as everyone has there own methods

I had been doing EVP recordings alot lately, and I get very good EVP's at times,but lately they have not been very good..But, even though their not good, they always tell me they are evil and to leave, and get out..Since then, I have stopped doing EVP's because I have been noticing strange things like unusual sounds, things not where they should be,shadows and such.I have also noticed wife and I fight more and family is uneasy..Since I quit, family has been slowly restoring and doing better.

A few coworkers and I made some recordings one night in the jail. At the time we were just goofing around mostly and never expected to hear anything. We were wrong. We had recordings that night of 2 different voices, one male and one female. I became stricken with "EVP fever" after that and couldn't get enough of it. After hearing some of my recordings one night I got reallyworried about what I was hearing. I now believe we are recording demons, and they tell us what we shouldn't be hearing.

Yes thats how a ghost box works, it rapidly scans the frequencies without stopping and its this particular make that has that popping noise as it goes through, and its thought that the background noise of small snippets of radio stations and white noise is what allows the evp to form

What fascinates me, about this video, is the fact that you can HEAR that the same voice answers two questions, one after the other. What is cool about that is that it would be impossible for the radio to recycle through the bands as quickly as the questions were asked. Very cool, indeed!

well that was very informative. I enjoyed those answers and your questions. the possibilites are limited aren't they, you respect them and when you get spirits who wanto answer instead of fight amongst themselves, its very productive. So I have heard them almost shocked that they had been seen, no I know why. It makes sense they try to appear in the dark, but I wonder how many over visited places have enlightened them of the fact that we have equipment to see them? we have seen them watching us.

On future videos, I hope to be incorporating more devices that measure various things including EMF and ultrasound, I do measure for spikes in EMF regularly though.
As I said on another vid, most of my recordings are done from my own home, we have experienced quite a lot of visual phenomena here and some poltergeist activity.

Agreed, I try to use control questions in every session, asking them to repeat something back to me. Most of the time it is repeated which leaves 2 possibilities for the source.
The 1st source being, randomly hitting the exact word or phrase you are looking for at that exact moment at time whilst using a rapidly scanning device that only plays milliseconds of a certain channel.
The other possible source is that something intelligent hears us and repeats what we ask

From those 2 possibilities, through expereince and repeatedly hearing the correct answers, surely the randomness of an ever changing frequency scanner becomes less and less of a possibility through probability alone.
This leaves the theory of an intelligent entity. Although, personally I believe most are spirit, I can never rule out other possible entities communicating.
But until there is definitive proof, no possibility can be ruled out.

melarry, I'm not refusing to believe in anything. I'm just skeptical (hey, it's that word!) to these fantastical claims that have no evidence or proof. I always ask questions, and Highspirit was even kind enough to reply. Admittedly my comments may come across as a touch too blunt, but I only have 500 characters and they run out pretty quick, so I lose a lot of "I believe" and "think", making the comments come across as more dominant than observant. My meaning was that educated people, with all the wealth of scientific knowledge gained over the years, on hearing a voice on a radio, shouldn't equate it with ghosts, just as a magnet under a table moving a paperclip shouldn't be believed to be telekinesis, or a paperbag blowing in the wind being moved by spirits.

All I will say guys is, there is no concrete proof either way that it is one or the other, so technically all possibilities remain open. Depending on what side of the fence you sit on will certainly sway what belief you will have. I have always said I am open to comments either way as that is how we learn more.

It's your interpretation of the whole field that is in question. No one is deluded. No one has come to solid conclusions. You said that "educated people" do not believe in such stuff. Well, truly educated people don't presume we know everything about the world in which we live. Delusion comes in many forms.
The first answer is always a physical one -- and that always remains the likely one. But when that answer isn't adequate, it is neurologically HEALTHY to consider other possibilities.

Would it be wrong to consider a child's behaviour problems the work of a demon or devil, or would you say that's neurologically healthy to consider? To stop and treat each theory as equally probable is counter-productive. If people want to believe that the voices they hear on a radio belong to the dead, fine, but I call a spade a spade. I'm more than open to listen, but there's nothing here. There's a model, as you say, but is it being expanded upon? Tested? I don't believe so. Are the voices on these ghost boxes eliminated as outside noise, like a radio station, for instance? No. I see no credible reason for the voices to belong ghosts.

Until then, the voices on a radio are just that. I'll listen and observe, but there is nothing so far that is of merit, or unexplainable. The only theory I've heard is, "it might be voices on the radio, but it also might be ghosts." Eliminate the former. Get rid of the possibility that what you're hearing is a radio, or some other transmitting device, leaving something unexplainable and unknown. I'll be more interested then. That's not arrogance, or dogmatic. I think it's rather reasonable.

I've gone through a lot of these EVP recordings on YouTube, and none have been impressive or noteworthy at all.
These "ghostboxes" are clearly just radios constantly sweep the airwaves, rushing past radio stations; too fast to understand what it is, but quickly enough to hear a word or two. You ask a question, pick out the word you think you hear, be it an actual word or just static, and ignore the other noises.
Educated people shouldn't believe voices on a radio to be ghosts. This is 2009.

There's nothing to win. It's not a game of getting one over the other. My stance here is that EVP recordings that come from a RADIO are just that; radio stations mixed with static and other frequencies.
I've yet to hear, and I've asked, why people believe these voices belong to the dead. I've gotten answers from one or two users, but their explanation is that "existing noise can be manipulated by spirits to form their own words."
Why attribute noise on a radio to ghostly causes? All I ask.

By your comment, it's clear you don't even understand the topic. The vast majority of EVP has nothing to do with "ghost boxes" which are highly controversial things it would take a lot of time to explain. What people are doing is employing a theoretical model. No one goes up to a scientist testing some theory and says, "account for it!" I don't know WHAT causes the actual EVP voices. I know they are there. To deny them is to confine our knowledge by our ignorance.

Thank you for your reply. I've just finished reading The Big Circle website, and my dislike for this whole EVP business has grown exponentially. It's fine for amateurs and curious people to sit in their rooms and play about with a radio and have fun, but for there to be an organisation clearly advocating the belief in ghosts, telling grieving people that they're real, and science has no explanation? I find that morally wrong.

My ego has nothing to do with anything, and I'm certainly not harbouring some secret belief in this. As for my sudden interest in ghostly voices from beyond, my sister has been reading a book about Derek Acorah and recommended it to me. I found the book and its author laughably moronic, but realised that people held a strong conviction in that spirits and ghosts exist.
So, reading up and listening to everything I can, the conclusion is clear; EVP is rubbish. Pareidolia mixed with probability.

I do hear all sorts on the ghost box, a lot of the time I hear them talking to each other. I agree though it can be difficult sometimes when you are trying to talk to one voice as others are all trying to come through at the same time. Sometimes I simply ask them to take it in turns or for the strongest voice to take on the role of a kind of spokesperson. It doesnt always work though lol

Are they listed on Ebay as "Ghost Boxes" or are they called something else on there? I'd like to get one as well.

The best search term to use on ebay is "ghost box evp" then it will come up with quite a few sellers
