  • Amen brother.

  • This song reminds me of Calibretto 13's "Creep" done right. I forget the lyrics to any of my songs I have not performed recently. Apparently I'm not the only one.

  • Jon gets it... Put religion aside, and start caring for people. And not just people you know... all people. People get so caught up in religion that they end up missing 'it'.

  • @ajsadowski Jon isn't bashing Christianity that its just a gathering of hypocrites and it doesn't matter in the end. He's bashing on people who treat Christianity as anything less than a relationship. After all, Jesus told his disciples that he won't allow for anything short of true surrender to him. As for the helping people aspect, you're on the right track, but 'it' isn't about caring for others. its about showing Jesus through caring for others. That's what i think Jon is singing about.

  • oh Jon... we all know you tend to forget the lyrics... :3

  • Song of my life. Thank you Jon

  • I totally agree with this. But people have to be careful & understand that God (& Jon here) aren't saying that worship music in & of the Spirit & Truth are wrong & unwelcoming to God. Just that those singing with hypocritcal & unrepentent hearts. On the contrary, we are instructed to worship God. This is know because it is littered throught Psalms. At the same time, "God looks on those & sees their hearts."

  • @abankse83 You are so right. It's good for everybody to understand that right.

  • awesome video! Such a huge fan of this song! What an amazing message... love this passage of scripture!

  • did he come to Olivet?

  • This is an awesome song! So true.

  • Not Isaiah, but Amos 5:21-24 (NLT) "I hate all your show and pretense - the hypocrisy of your religious festivals and solemn assemblies. I will not accept your burnt offerings and grain offerings. I won't even notice all your choice peace offerings. Away with your noisy hymns of praise! I will not listen to the music of your harps. Instead, I want to see a mighty flood of justice, an endless river of righteous living."

  • @goodintentions002

Actually, if you read Isaiah 1 as well, you'll see that it's a conglomeration of both passages.

  • @chronicmango really? i thought it was out of Amos 5:21-24

  • @SnowBunnieSqueakyToy Yep, the "Lets argue this out" and a few other pieces similarly come out of Isaiah.

But yes, it is out of Amos 5:21-24 as well. :)

  • he tunes his guitar like an angel

    god bless you jon

  • Just as he said emphatically,

"your eyes are closed when youre praying

you sing right along with the band

you shine up your shoes for services

but theres blood on your hands"

    Quit fooling around...

  • wonderfull

  • Perfeito..

    À sangue em suas maos...

  • does anybody know what taylor guitar model that is?

  • check out martin guitars -- see john mayer's : in your atomosphere (live in LA) youtube video. on my youtube channel if u don't want to search for it. john mayer's an amazing artist/guitarist

  • Jon is often playing a Taylor GS6 with maple body. I think it's the one in this video, too.

  • Coolest song.... favorite writer ever.... completely honest...... I hate all your show!!!

  • God wrote that. lol but foreman is totally legit, i really enjoy his heart and music also

  • God didn't wrote that... though it's about some verses from the Bible. I know all his music, so when I say he's my favorite writer, it's because I like all his lyrics... his a really deep writer, his poetry would be awesome, but the Seasons EPs are the best...

  • @HunterDay10 i agree

  • amen jon

  • this song is based on Isaiah 1:11-17 and Amos they are both the same in all pretense

  • This song is so true.

  • Jhon Foreman is so deep!

i love his music and lyrics

i have his album on my ipod :)

Instead of a show is a good song !

he says alot of important things in his music .

  • It's actually Amos 5 that this comes from :) Not sure if anyone already said that.

  • LOL yep! It is.

  • I know that corner! Haha. Moon Monkey... Except it's "Higher Grounds" now... ACK!!!

  • hmm i've got a take on this song which some people will find uncomfortable: the reason why some people will think other Christian i-love-you-Lord outright lyrics type of songs are crap is because... their own lives, spiritually at least, are crap too, and that's why they feel it's so fake.. all i'm saying, dun call the songwriter fake when the problem is not him, but more likely .. you. anyway, this was what i felt when i heard this awesome song

  • man I LOVE jon foreman, because he isn't like gooey christian music which is so played out ( no offense ) it's just, his stuff is REAL, and isn't that what God wants? for us to talk to the worlddd about his real change, and not the sameee worship every sunday which becomes a tradition??? i dunno, just a thought.

  • That's a good thing; just keep listening.

  • his music is amazing weather he is by himself or with switchfoot

  • Jon Foreman is the artist of the Decade

  • 'and it's somewhere in my pocket...i know it's down there somewhere..'

pinnacle of perfection i think you mean ;)

  • Jon's the Pinicel Of perfection ;)

  • I just ordered all his ep's, can't wait till they come in.

  • he is my favorite person in the whole wide world!!! he's so warm and just amazing! his lyrics are so meaningful instead of a bunch of crap

  • i know a lot of people that worship to Chris Tomlin but i really can't but i can worship to Jon foreman so easily and he is completely awesome and full of God.

  • Wow!i can totally relate to this song because i feel that, sometimes in youth groups at church. And the fact that this song is based on Isaiah 1:11-17 is simply amazing!

    Thanks for posting this!!!!

Jon foreman and Switchfoot rock man!!

  • "An endless procession of righteous living."

That's spot on. It's like my life's motto now.

  • i know!! me too

  • The message of this song is so powerful!

  • beautiful

  • give love to the ones who can't love at all.

give hope to the ones who have no hope at all.

stand up for the ones who can't stand at all.

    thank you jon. =3

  • awesome. so real

  • He is now my favorite lyricist.

  • the lyrics are well over 2000 years old? :P

  • hahahahaha...yeah!! Isaiah 1:11-17 over 3000 years old... :P

  • Your eyes are closed when youre praying

You sing right along with the band

You shine up your shoes for services

    Theres blood on your hands

You turned your back on the homeless

And the ones that dont fit in your plan

    Quit playing religion games

    Theres blood on your hands

  • :)i love this song

  • me too

  • "and it's somewhere in my pocket..."

does anyone know where this song is from?

  • The song is from jon foreman's summer ep

  • "its hard to remember where i put my wallet letalone parts to a song." -jon foreman.

    yay jon.

  • i love jon foreman.

    he doesn't compromise his music.

    it's all meaningful,

but also he doesn't fall into the overgeneralized christian praise musician playing nothing but "amazing grace"

i have allot of respect for this guy

come listen to my stuff and tell me what you think

    :)

    :)

    :)

  • Jon played part of that song before at a concert I went to on March 27, 2008. ahaha so he's played PART of this song live. :]

  • my gosh this song is just so beautiful, especially the chorus. But can you expect any less?

  • actually it's straight out of amos 5.21-24! but there's something similar in isaiah too!!jon you rock, awesome work!!!

  • Exactly, is the mix of those!!

  • Isaiah 1:15-24ish

  • I just bought the Summer EP and this is the best song of it. I really recommend it. Blessings

  • I HATE all your shows! Ha ha. If I had NEVER read Isaiah before. It would sound like such a RUDE comment. Ha ha.!!! AMEN preach it Jon!!

  • Could you tell me exactly where it is in Isaiah, I want to read it, Thanks!! =).

  • Isaiah 1:11-17 I think....I read it on another site...I'm pretty sure that is the passage they had. =]

  • adore this. i hope he records this song on an EP. This is one of my favourite passages of Scripture.

  • he is its gonna be on his Summer EP

  • straight out of Isaiah - seems to be from Isaiah 1:11-17 (or there abouts)

  • did he say "it's straight out of Isaiah" or "..Amos"

'cause im pretty sure that verse(i hate all your show and pretense...) is from Amos 5:12

    nonetheless, i love Jon's songs :)
