I agree Splatterhouse 2 is the best one in the series. I didn't care much for part 3 it was too tough and didn't have much of a variety as far as enemies go. I liked the new 3D Splatterhouse and felt it was too harshly panned by the mainstream critics who probably didn't give the game much of a chance. I hope Namco gives this series another chance.

What they should of did with splatterhouse 3 is when you get knocked down you can hit A as soon as you hit the ground to land on your hands and do a little gymnastic move (kinda like a somersault) and land flat on your feet to save time. Now that would be a smart idea.

And the mansion is burned, but there was another hidden mansion that leaves to the land of dead. If you watch the intro you can see the charred remains of the first mansion followed by the vision of the second one.

In the Japanese version, it says she is in the world of the dead, quite specifically in fact. So that really was Jennifer.

It's funny, if it weren't for the HVGN reviewing this series, I wouldn't have known about or even gotten the remake. I really enjoyed it and I gotta say, the originals are pretty fun. But the ratings for the game are so bad, it makes me cry. And the people reviewing it are mentioning problems I haven't run across and I've beaten the game multiple times. Starting to think we've played completely different games from the critics. The sales numbers are bad too. I don't think there will be a sequel.

I've been playing the new Splatterhouse for the past eight hours. The first stage in 2 is the remains of West Mansion. The japanese version says there was a hidden house which has a portal to rescue Jennifer who was encased in the crystal.
What I'm loving a lot about the new splatterhouse game is that you can unlock the origional games without it being DLC or something, which is a great move on Namco's part.
The first level IS the west mansion, the mansion YOUR going to is the mueler mansion, which is why he's not explained in the game... Also, the zombie's muleur, not west...

What I'm loving a lot about the new splatterhouse game is that you can unlock the origional games without it being DLC or something, which is a great move on Namco's part.

some things i think happened...for the jen in part 2...the blue hue makes me think its her soul.
and dr west...I think that was the weird head with claws at the end.The seceintist is always transformed...
then again I never played 2 and only saw LPS of 1+3 these are just my opinions

I understand back then the gore and stuff was awesome and new for its time. But having just discovered this game and having watched games like Silent Hill, Mortal Kombat (first gore fest I ever played), and Residents evil this doesn't really disturb me. It still looks pretty good and the remake looks awesome.

@lophatjello Take your time, don't rush it. Fans are more patient then you think, no matter how much they complain.
Don't spoil the game for yourself in a hurry to satisfy them, they'll be satisfied once it comes out if the quality is good, so worry not about that. First, take in the game, then think back on it. But I doubt I need to say that.
Seriously. Just enjoy yourself with it. Hope to see it when it comes.
