I was considering buying an unlocked iPhone 4 or captivate but found a captivate on craigslist with ICS installed for 160. So glad i bought it. phone runs good and im not trapped by apple
captivate definitely my dad was always saying he wanted an iphone but i wanted a captivate and hes says the iphone is better but i feel this video totally proves him wrong
Consider the used market today, it's somewhat hard to justify paying 200 extra for an iphone 4 compared to samsung galaxy. I mean I guess it's good news for people buying new phones, apples will be the way to go because android phones has very limited ability to retain value. But still, in terms of feature, I don't think iphone 4 has 200 bucks more feature than Galaxy S. I would say maaaybe 100, top.

Had 3Gs in Jun 09, started to randomly shutdown/power issues in '10. It may look sleeker but won’t matter since it cracks so easy, would need protective case that hides the look anyway. Charging cables are flimsy, cable for Cap is better/universal. Wife's has similar power issues, if these happen to Cap at least can replace battery. Apple is a rip off & limits its lifespan so you end up upgrading, that's y App purposely don't make external batts for i4/5. Obviously Cap is a logical/cheaper buy.

Only 2 things better on the 4...front facing camera and the flash. Other than that Samsung Captivate owns the 4. My girlfriend has a 4 and I have the Captivate and Captivate is way better
@Weishification I don't really know. You might ask someone at an AT&T store, or find an Android-specific blog (such as Phandroid, AndroidPolice, AndroidSpin, etc.) and ask there. There should be a way but I just don't know.
the only way ur going to get that much battery life on the captivate is you charge it the right which takes for every to charge... the battery drains fast if it used alot...just sayin
I have both phones! mom dont wanna use her captivate anymore so yeaah, now i have 2 phones. iPhone 4 is my personal phone its simpler, i could video chat, better hd video than the captivate, plus the flash and has longer battery life than my captivate. To those who dont mind front camera and camera flash get the captivate. I got my captivate rooted and unlocked, ima use it when i go to philippines this summer! :) to those who are choosing, u wont really go wrong on any of these phones :)

@hovy82 all the Galaxy S phones have a different look friend. (Captivate - AT&T, Fascinate - Verizon, Epic 4G - Sprint, and then Vibrant - Tmobile). The Tmobile "Vibrant" probably looks the same as the Galaxy S phones sold outside of United States.
@hovy82 Galaxy S phone is just a Brand Name used for those 4 phones. They are amongst the most powerful if not the most powerful phones on the market today from a hardware perspective.
Probably but then again what isn't locked down on AT&T? At least Android allows you to do a hell of a lot more out of the box than you can on an iPhone. You should take another look at the specs on the thing, it's more than just a "good graphics chip".

I am part of a family plan. We have a shared family plan plus I have a data plan already ATT. I went to your site to see how much the Captivate would be there for me to upgrade my phone. I'm actually eligible tomorrow, but your site said it could process the order tomorrow, so that's all fine. I really just want to continue on with my present voice and data plans. However, I don't seem to have that option. It's offering a more expensive voice plan.
im gonna go with the iphone 4. the LED flash and front camera sold me. besides i already have a 3g and have bought apps. This way i can just use those apps on the 4.

I already had an iphone 3g, so switching to the 4 was easy.. So in conclusion, Id take a jailbroken iphone over a rooted captivate.
A rooted Captivate is a lot more capable dude. The android market has tons of good free apps too, a lot more than Apple's whose apps are generally more expensive as well.

you can't compare the Samsung Captivate to the iphone 4's, you should just say, iphone has a better screen. i don't know what you have been doing but the battery was dont wrong, the iphone from other youtuber's and people at phone companies give the iphone a 40 percent longer battery life then the Samsung Captivate.

on the iphone 4 that is an APP FOR THAT!! if the other phone can download TANGO then you can video chat over WIFI OR 3G!!!!...but honestly i would get the captivate if it had a front facing camera and wasnt so slow responding at times
@xXRequiremXx Yes, the Captivate has 16GB of on-board storage and will take a microSD card up to 32GB. It can have as much as 48GB of storage. The sound quality is excellent through headphones... plenty of volume.
@wirefly The iPhone has a remote built into the earbuds which you can click to end calls and skip songs. Does the Captivate have that as well? Can you click the earbuds and end calls and skip songs? Does it even have a remote?

I have had iPhones ever since they came out but when comparing my brothers captivate with my iPhone 4 he easily blew mine away. The android market kills the apple market. The only thing the iPhone has that I would like on the captivate is the flash camera, but then again that's why I have 10mp camera for pictures. Shm at you apple nutt huggers.
@jamael87 I have been an Apple guy for 20 years and i totally agree. the Droid OS is just hands down superior. I have a black berry now i was going to get an iPhone. I tried the windows phone too. Windows did a great job with the Phone OS and i give them kudos but the Droid has features like voice browsing "swipe" typing is furious .. i am sold on the capitivate.
You know what I hate? People making decisions to buy one phone over another solely based on the fact that the Iphone 4 has a front-facing VGA camera. Yes, it's cool, but you can only do Face time or video-calls with some one who HAS an Iphone 4 or front facing camera.
@randomaccount2525 It's true, iPhone 4's screen does look a washed out but the resolution is far greater. Apple has really out done everyone else with their Retina Display. Also, carbon fiber is very light and durable but even so. Apple's hardened glass that covers the back and front of the device has the strength consistency as Sapphire crystal. Also, when you do not have the phones side by side and it's not in intense light the washed out look would be gone and there wouldn't be much change.

Captivate..its every bit as good as the Iphone4 but Android is just a much better OS than Apples,so those two things combined make make the Captivate easily the best choice for a smart phone on the market today hands down!
Ps: Just in case some don't know, you can videochat with people who don't only have the Iphone 4. You can videochat over wifi or 3g with free apps like Fring or Tango.
My captivate does NOT last 2 days. About 15 hours but not two days, and that's with the lowest brightness and no live wallpaper. It's weird how you got 2 days, what do you do? lol

i have owned apples restricted shit product with the POS itunes and sold it as fast as i could once i fully understood what kind of a scheming snake like company apple is. Once the captivate releases for rogers i will enjoy all the websites that support flash and won't have to deal with apple's itunes and control over everything you do with the phone.
@aldeo666 thats y you have to learn to get around apples restrictions. im on t mobile with my iphone 4 and i have plenty of ways to get around it. the best thing on my phone is a program called install0us i can get any app that costs money for free.
I've used both and iPhone 4 all day. The Captivate's screen is shit compared to the iPhone 4, and the capacitive touch buttons on the bottom are fucking annoyingly unresponsive.
THE MAIN FACT IS THAT. The Samsung Captivate is better than the Iphone4 you can listen to what other people are saying and get the iphone4 because everyone has or wants to get it. With the captivate you also less app restrictions compared to the Iphone4. We all have different opinions but I would go with the Captivate just because it's an Apple phone doesn't make it better!!

I'm not an iphone fanatic and have never had one but I am thinking about getting one over the captivate and for all the people who say the captivate kills the iphone think about this: Iphone has a much better music player, better browser, way less laggy os, facetime, led flash, a screen with more clarity (colors are better on captivate though), gps is better and actually works, way more apps, email works better, and is more user friendly.
@jlescroart30 the captivate can change the equalizer in it's music player and add sound affects so iphone4 music player is worse. Browser on captivate has flash, yah theres lag but with android 2.2 goodbye iphone, LED flash IS cool, there already is a gps fix, facetime is only on wifi with other iphone there are multiple ways to use email on android at the click of a button,minimal customization and stuck on itunes is not user friendly. I respect your opinion but get your facts straight.

Really hard on which one I want iPhone 4 has a great screen but seem like a phone that you can't do anything which and there customer service and apple care is bullshit and covers nothing.

I am part of a family plan. We have a shared family plan plus I have a data plan already ATT. I went to your site to see how much the Captivate would be there for me to upgrade my phone. I'm actually eligible tomorrow, but your site said it could process the order tomorrow, so that's all fine. I really just want to continue on with my present voice and data plans. However, I don't seem to have that option. It's offering a more expensive voice plan.

@NightHawk877 i would but android just doesn't have what i want. The great thing about android is the fact that i can customize so much, but ANYTHING worth having on android marketplace, is not free. It's hard to navigate. I'm not even sure if there is another android phone on at&t. The captivate kept fucking up when it came to wifi, and i don't have unlimited data. I already had an iphone 3g, so switching to the 4 was easy.. So in conclusion, Id take a jailbroken iphone over a rooted captivate.

A rooted Captivate is a lot more capable dude. The android market has tons of good free apps too, a lot more than Apple's whose apps are generally more expensive as well.

you can't compare the Samsung Captivate to the iphone 4's, you should just say, iphone has a better screen. i don't know what you have been doing but the battery was dont wrong, the iphone from other youtuber's and people at phone companies give the iphone a 40 percent longer battery life then the Samsung Captivate.

on the iphone 4 that is an APP FOR THAT!! if the other phone can download TANGO then you can video chat over WIFI OR 3G!!!!...but honestly i would get the captivate if it had a front facing camera and wasnt so slow responding at times

@xXRequiremXx Yes, the Captivate has 16GB of on-board storage and will take a microSD card up to 32GB. It can have as much as 48GB of storage. The sound quality is excellent through headphones... plenty of volume.

I have had iPhones ever since they came out but when comparing my brothers captivate with my iPhone 4 he easily blew mine away. The android market kills the apple market. The only thing the iPhone has that I would like on the captivate is the flash camera, but then again that's why I have 10mp camera for pictures. Shm at you apple nutt huggers.

@jamael87 I have been an Apple guy for 20 years and i totally agree. the Droid OS is just hands down superior. I have a black berry now i was going to get an iPhone. I tried the windows phone too. Windows did a great job with the Phone OS and i give them kudos but the Droid has features like voice browsing "swipe" typing is furious .. i am sold on the capitivate.

You know what I hate? People making decisions to buy one phone over another solely based on the fact that the Iphone 4 has a front-facing VGA camera. Yes, it's cool, but you can only do Face time or video-calls with some one who HAS an Iphone 4 or front facing camera.

@randomaccount2525 It's true, iPhone 4's screen does look a washed out but the resolution is far greater. Apple has really out done everyone else with their Retina Display. Also, carbon fiber is very light and durable but even so. Apple's hardened glass that covers the back and front of the device has the strength consistency as Sapphire crystal. Also, when you do not have the phones side by side and it's not in intense light the washed out look would be gone and there wouldn't be much change.

Captivate..its every bit as good as the Iphone4 but Android is just a much better OS than Apples,so those two things combined make make the Captivate easily the best choice for a smart phone on the market today hands down!

i have owned apples restricted shit product with the POS itunes and sold it as fast as i could once i fully understood what kind of a scheming snake like company apple is. Once the captivate releases for rogers i will enjoy all the websites that support flash and won't have to deal with apple's itunes and control over everything you do with the phone.

THE MAIN FACT IS THAT. The Samsung Captivate is better than the Iphone4 you can listen to what other people are saying and get the iphone4 because everyone has or wants to get it. With the captivate you also less app restrictions compared to the Iphone4. We all have different opinions but I would go with the Captivate just because it's an Apple phone doesn't make it better!!

@DasiaF I'm an ex-iphone user and current captivate user. Captivate all day. The customizable home screen is awesome. the Screen size is great. The Phone insurance cover EVERYTING the iphone doesn't:
Water damage,losing the phone, breaking the screen, parts broken but there minor damage so apple won't fix it and others. Camera is the iphone but the battery.The call quality is equal and messaging is too.Price is WAY less on the captivate.Video is iphone all day.So:

Dammmit man, im elgible for an early upgrade and im torn between these two phones, i had an iPhone 3G and then moved on to the Backflip ( Which I do not recommend AT ALL!!!!! THATS THE REASON WHY IM USING THE EARLY UPGRADE) BUT I MISSED MY iPhone and the only reason why i didnt stay with it is because it didnt have insurance but now iPhone 4 does, I was gonna get the Captivate at first but then something reminded me of my iPhone, plus the iPhone was my FIRST SMARTPHONE NOT MY FIRST PHONE...

I regret not keeping it, iPhone is an great phone with it issues but what phone doesnt have issue, and people who doesnt like apple but had an iPhone should agree that they get the job done, if there is a problem, bamm, there an update, and issues, and because the iPhone has more apps, I compared how long i would be on my backflip to how long i would be on my old iPhone 3G and i was on the iPhone way longer, trust me i want the Captivate for swype but it is not worth having ...

@iKennKenn3G ... a phone that you will know fu*k up, it just doesnt make sense, ok when the iPhone 4 first came out, that was everybody mistake because of the screw ups and because numerous people bought it and had the problem, it allowed apple to get on the case and try to fix it and it allow people to realize that they should wait alittle bit before buying an iPhone 4, so yea im going with the iPhone 4 and I have alot of reasons why, I hope that this was helpful to people who couldnt decide...

I'm not an iphone fanatic and have never had one but I am thinking about getting one over the captivate and for all the people who say the captivate kills the iphone think about this: Iphone has a much better music player, better browser, way less laggy os, facetime, led flash, a screen with more clarity (colors are better on captivate though), gps is better and actually works, way more apps, email works better, and is more user friendly.

@jlescroart30 the captivate can change the equalizer in it's music player and add sound affects so iphone4 music player is worse. Browser on captivate has flash, yah theres lag but with android 2.2 goodbye iphone, LED flash IS cool, there already is a gps fix, facetime is only on wifi with other iphone there are multiple ways to use email on android at the click of a button,minimal customization and stuck on itunes is not user friendly. I respect your opinion but get your facts straight.
