  • Now quick!!! lick it!!!

  • EGT is going crazy

  • what b.o.v is this please tell me thats the noise i have been after for years!! inbox me.

  • Im suprised no one said. "Dude...20 bucks to touch it."

  • the blow off sounded sexy man

  • man put some heat wrap around that! =Þ

  • LOL LOL TOUCH IT TOUCH ITTTTT

  • wow maybe his cat. is clogged...?

  • Naw dude lol, turbo and the turbo manifold get red hot if pushed like this, its normal. When I run, I usually pop my hood, my friends huddle around and light cigs off of the manifold/turbo. Completely normal thing.

  • look the front bumper is glowing too!!!!

  • dang what did that thing rev too

  • what are you guys doing are you trying to blow it up your holding it a redline for ever thats why your manifold is glowing

  • okay now put your face in there to see what happens, and then your ass

  • I don know but that car was jerking all over, looks like is lean just wating to break.

  • i would have said that the mixture is too weak. not enough fuel, or an air leak on the inlet side

  • was there a big fan to keep everything cool?

i replaced my stock manifold with a custom one i made in my garage but i welded cooling lines to prevent this and it gained me an extra 25 or 30 horses i think.

  • yea... they must put the big fan in front of it.. to keep the engine run in good condition... that's the best way to tune the engine... i do that all the time... maybe the garage don't have the big fan... hehehe... no place to put the big fan...

  • So you welded cooling lines into a exh manifold? How did you not boil the coolant on contact?

  • EASY I USED 2 motor cycle rads and a small condensor from a mitsubishi and welded lines all over the exaust system the 2 rads and small fans on them and the air conditioning system is also mixed in with that and it keeps it nice and cool keeps the engine temp down too. rednecks can do anything

  • that makes no sense but ok....

  • how the comment below make no sense....cat put excessive heat out

  • poor ice cold water on it that works best..lol

  • good call!

  • lmao that a great idea ;)

  • waaaaaaat lol

  • the mani glowing means the timing is to retarded. when the exhaust valve is opening, the air/fuel charge is still combusting. pull a lil boost and add timing.

  • Not true. The walls on a tubular manifold are not thick by any means, and if you've ever owned one you know even a quick pull on the street at night after you pull over it's glowing. When metal gets hot it glows, it's not TOO hot, that's just what happens. Exhaust temperatures before the gas hits the turbine wheel are over 1400 degrees at cruise. It has nothing to do with improper timing.

  • This may be different, but rotary engines always run a little rich, that could cause it on a piston engine as well. But the tubular manifold also does it like you said.

  • haha it aint called the hot side for no reason

  • That guy should really get a heat shield for the manifold and the turbo, it will increase spool. (more heat = more velosity. Hate to be that radiator.

  • maby its time to take the car to antartica. lol

  • yup. The same amount of exhaust gas will have a higher volume at a higher temp. This means more pressure. More pressure means a faster spinning turbine.

  • damn dat turbo is screamin

  • too much timing

  • hmmm i wonder what the pyrometer indicated that run...

  • Talk about heat soaking an intake :( Cool look for it though.

  • I can't believe there's a whole debate going on about why the manifold is red hot. It's hot because there several thousand explosions going on right next to it and there quite warm.

I had a standard Metro turbo and the manifold would glow after some hard use. My 323 Turbo manifold would also glow after some good use. Both of these had cast manifolds as well. My 180SX proper glows now after some use, this one has a s/s manifold and heats up a lot quicker.

  • agreed. i can get my manafold to glow if i boost my 180sx on the highway... its common to heat up a exhaust manafold on a turbo car. its accualy easyer to get a aftermarket headers on a chevy big block to glow. takes like 20 secconds of hard driving.

  • does it still work?

    the evo?

  • Best car ever <3

  • DAMN F*** cool... didn't know it could do that!!!

  • its supposed to do that you retards

  • Dude, you have a serious backpressure problem. You prob will melt the valves after a few runs. You should increase the exhaust diameter by at least 50%

  • Agreed

  • what a idiot... you can tell you dont know shit about turbos or better yet cars..

  • marshmallows anyone?

  • What it looks like is there is too much load on the dyno.

  • Will someone post some FREAKING NUMBERS instead of commenting on how hot it got! What's the horsepower at the wheels? What's the result of the dyno?

  • If I didn't know any better, i would say he's got too much backpressure in the manifold before the turbo. Nowhere for the heat to go.

  • I agree. I threw a turbo on my B20 crvtec and with the old pipes same thing happened further down. Had to go to a 2.5" all the way (still want some backpressure)

  • Turbo engines do not need backpressure in the exhaust. The turbo provides far more than the engine needs.

  • Yeh, additional cooling would be useful before the thing burns the street down.

  • dang...turbo manifold probably will crack eventually.

  • what is so hot ?

  • i dare you to touch it xDDDDDD

  • i dobble dare you XD

  • I bizarro dare you.

  • lmao

  • wth, so hot?

  • need some liq.nit. cooling lawl

  • Now somethin' aint right there...

  • that not suposed to happen Kid....O.o...like the poeple said that is a bad tunning...

  • DSM and EVO motors are never supposed to get egt's that high.. what are you talking about, idk about your chevy.. but I have a DSM and if my manifold was red I'd be sh**ting a brick..

  • an evo is a dsm you fucking idiot. i bet you take really good care of your shitsu. queer

  • No.. an evo is an evo.. you will never hear someone refer to an evo as a dsm.. wow.. you're the idiot..

  • is it a mitsubishi?

  • Its a Lancer Evolution VII RS Spirit.

looks like the one tuned by Extreme

  • Diamond-Star Motors (commonly abbreviated to DSM) was an automobile-manufacturing joint venture between the Chrysler Corporation and Mitsubishi Motors Corporation. Took that from Wikipedia. Chrysler had nothing to do with any of the EVOs.

bad tuning..... fuel burning on manifold...

...u my friend are retarded. headers can get that hot on any car. my 57 chevy w/ a little 235 get semi red when you drive at like 4000-5000 rpms

  • dam why get a grill when u got burnning hot evo headers

  • mmmm burgers

  • your thinking what im thinking.

OK you bring burgers ill bring chicken.

Only thing you have to fly to the UK

I just drive for 10 mins LOL

  • dangit... and i was really lookin foward to it

  • is that an evo from extreme. Looks like an rs sprint demo of theres. Has about 460 bhp

  • my friends audi does that on the road

  • Mikey, quick! Pour some water on that thing! LMAO. kidding.

  • bad tuning..... fuel burning on manifold...

  • i think the bucking is the AWD system shuttling power between the front and rear of the car. I've heard that Subarus do something similar on the dyno.

  • Another quality Mitsu product. Good god.

  • Dang!! is that ok or wat?

  • that was probably a 5 or 6th gear pull. thats the reason that manifold got so damn hot because the EGT's where rising from the motor being boost for so long.

  • ha it fucked that dyno in the butt

  • those EGT's might be a bit high!

  • Evo: your winter heatsource.

  • you should have touched it

  • COOL!

  • Damn, that thing was bucking on the rollers like it was getting some poon. O.o

  • Wow!

  • might wanna check and see if it melted any wires

  • Good for cookin bacon and eggs in the morning and burgers for lunch.
