During the campaign, the Obama team didn't pay for the actual canvassing, they paid for ads, travel, etc. McCain was paying "volunteers" but not Obama, and that's why he had so much money left over for ads.

You should volunteer. You'll find out quickly that NO ONE WILL PAY YOU.

You missed the whole point, you don't get paid for going out and canvassing, but the government gets money (our tax dollars) to set up and run the programs. Government expansion of volunteer services, it means the government is getting over on you twice, taking your tax dollars so they can get free service out of you.

1) Is that a threat? I volunteer and I wonder what "difference" you're offering to make.

2) You have no idea what "socialism" means, do you? Socialism means there are some things that the free market can't do because they aren't very profitable, so we chip in taxes to pay for it. For example, police, army, navy, roads, schools, libraries, hospitals, etc. This isn't new. America has been "socialist" since Alexander Hamilton. Otherwise, we'd still be colonies.
