This the song that was played after Summer and Tom see each other for the last time at the bench. Then continues to play as Tom walks to his job interview? If it's not, do you know the name of the song I'm talking about, it's was a really nice piano piece and I want to know the name?
I'm a guy but I seriously cried like a child when I saw this scene. I had a very similar experience in my life, in which I dated a girl for months that I loved so much even though she never developed strong feelings for me, and it all culminated in a scene similar to this. It is a horrible feeling, but life must go on.
And guys, get rid of the nice guy syndrome. Be nice and respectful, but also have self worth and realize that not everyone is compatible, regardless of how nice one might be.
It hurts that she says that at the end, but i think it was so necessary to be said otherwise he would have never moved on....I don't think she's mean, she didn't force herself to like him, that would have made their relationship a lie and eventually both of them would feel unsatisifed with the other...
What they don't show is 6 months down the line when Summer's husband is banging his secretary and Summer calls this guy back because she realizes the grass ain't always greener...to which he rightfully tells her to go piss off.
I just found out the girl i loved got married sadly she did it very fast an whether she admits it or not I know she is not as happy as summer which makes it worse....god I cant believe she is fuckin married to that d-bag fml :(
omg -_- damn it this author is i wanna say like a bitch or sumting but its a movie!!! dang it i dont like this part i feel bad that the girl had to do that damn it it broke my heart!!!!!!!!!!!!!
God im a dude and i want to punch a bitch in her face. she deserves it. cold hearted asshole she is. Its like she doesnt realize the type of shit she's doing to homie.
I saw a Q & A with the writer, and he said this entire scene was just Tom's imagination, that she never actually was there. Very interesting, never realized that when I watched it. Kinda changes the impact of the scene a little.
Also in complete agreement here. I'm pretty sure every guy at one point in his life has been faced with a moment like this. What sucks is when you don't see it coming. Ugh, sad movie. Brilliant, but awful to take a date to, that's for sure. I wish the events of this scene upon nobody because nobody deserves it.
it's so sad, but at the same time it's so freeing because he can finally be released to find someone that will feel that way about him. he was in agony the whole time because he always knew she didn't love him. that isn't what love feels like. and now he knows it wasn't love and will be different when it is.
We have all been there. She just crushed him. I was dumped one time for a guy that lived in Vegas. Like all guys that are dumped for someone else, I asked "Why him? What does he have that I don't?" She said "He's more cultured."
That crushed me so I can definitely relate to Tom's character. That had to be the worst thing to hear.
Yea that really hurt me, I had something similar happened to me. I can definitely relate because that was such a sad scene. The expression on Tom face was heartbreaking. This is one of my favorite movies, it really shows you that not everyone has a happy ending.
That's not quite the same thing: don't ask *why* someone likes someone else more than you (unless you want to be demolished) because it doesn't matter in the end. It doesn't matter why something is, it just matters that it *is.* The point was that Tom was right about love, but not right about Summer.
Regardless, there's probably a million girls out there who would prefer a laid-back, fun-loving guy over someone who drags them to the opera--it's just about finding the right person for you.
This was the most heartbreaking part of the movie.

Watched this movie a short while after me and the girl i Loved and still loved broke up
and they reminded me of us so much
but were different in big ways too
after hearing Summer say that to him
it put my relationship into an entirely new perspective
I still love her and want her
but idk if i should keep my hopes up that she'll love me back too
because i never found out if she just "woke up one day and realized what she was never sure of"
Amazing movie. Everyones been thru this at least once
