I don't think you've killed it at all. They need to switch up the theme a little. You look back at the themes and how they've alternated, and they haven't really changed a thing between Eccleston and Smith. Before, Doctor Who was in some ways reflective of the times, in that you'd hear some rock, funk, or disco creeping into some of the tunes. It changed with the times and with the doctor and the title sequence. So far, they haven't really changed up the sequence or the tune all that much.

one way to aknowledge it is - in 1989 when apparently in "Rememberence" the doctor had eliminated all dalek life , then how did one appear in "Dalek"? the time war backstory fits in with this , so with no doubt moffat will place a backstory to the daleks returning
