well, to learn this, you have to learn tenor clef. that takes some time. and so does learning the shifting for the high notes. so, if you're an extreme beginner probably a year or two
how long would you say it would take an extreme beginner to play this? like I haven't even gotten a cello yet but I plan on renting soon. like if I focused only on learning the notes in this song how long might it take?
@bradynpage - I had once a student who wanted to play Dvorak concerto, starting with note 1, next lesson note 2. At note 1 I explained the rhythm system of the notes, counting, the names, the position, the handhold, the bowhold, posture, the dynamics, how to play them - he just couldn't do it. Full with a brain storm of information he followed my suggestion to go the common way. - You can always play simple songs beautiful!
@georgcello so this would -not- be a good beginners song to learn i see. :] thank you for helping me out there :D I'll try to learn all the basics before attempting to play this song :]]
I'm an adult-beginner cellist, I started playing at 25. It's taken me over 3 and a half years of lessons to get to this point in the Suzuki cello books. With that said, I wouldn't start with this piece, but it would be a great goal to work towards.
I use a transcription by Merle Isaac, edited by Carl Fischer in "Cellists Favorite Contest Album" (I have 2 other editions). I use like always a different fingering & bowing as all of them. I actually recorded this piece on CD, and like that recording more. G.
I'm a college cello student, and yes, most of the guys here have interesting hair. It's just cuz we're badass and I take that as a complement. I think this guy's hair is cool.
this is my clarinet solo! :D

A beautiful piece of music, I am learning it on the guitar but you can't get the depth of feeling on a guitar that you get with a bowed instrument.
Thank you for taking the time to publish it on Youtube

@georgcello
I play it from the same book. Nice pieces, but fingering in the most of them is really terrible. Inclusif Arioso :)
