  • I'm doing this for my school. I play French horn. I know it's not that hard, it's just the counting is weird for me. So, any helpful tips?

  • We're doing this for our brass quintet now. I'm a tuba, any suggestions on how i should keep count? i know the other people go by 2's but i kinda find 4's more befitting since i got quarter notes

  • I have got this song for my brass quintet this year. i can tdouble tongue so we have to play it kinda slow. I play the trombone.

  • @brogan5 its def a lot of fun. i can't double tongue either but was able to get my single tonguing up to speed for this. just takes practice

  • @brogan5 I played it last year as a chamber brass piece. I play trombone,I cant double tongue but we played it at a normalish tempo. A lot of fun to play. I still play my part for fun.

  • where can i find this brass quintet. ive been wanting to play this with my brass quintet but cant find music.

  • Got a *1 at Solo Ensemble and going to State at UWSP. WOO I like it.

  • Great job, im going to state with a ensamble playing that exact song

  • I just played this song in contest with my quintet and got a superior rating :). Very fun to play!

  • Is there a way to get the "three 16th notes in a row" simultaneous?

Our quintet is having even more trouble than yours.

    TIA

  • @SimonVinJapan count it out n your mind and it will come to you at some point.

  • I hope I can play it this well next month!

And what's the probability of 2 players having with names beginning with Z just by chance? :-D

  • Nice job! Great balance. My group's recording is a bit muddled but have a listen will you and give me your thoughts? Brass quintets rock!! watch?v=iZ9hQSjKxbM

  • 10,000 thumbs up for fellow trumpeters

  • Nice!

    awsome tuba man!

we are going to play this little ensemble and this sounds real good

  • This is good, but dont tap your foot!

  • @HighbulpIII

Its a manner of "conducting" the ensemble, if you will

  • @HighbulpIII it sets the tempo. you dont do it at performance, but it is more than ok to do it at rehearsals

  • The horn player keeps rushing

  • The trumpets keep dragging. The horn is emphasizing the first sixteenth too much.

  • I did this piece last year for solo ensemble as a double reed quartet. two oboes, an english horn, and a bassoon. it turned out really nice! this is also a really great version.

  • @alsartist10 it isnt a version, its the original writing.

  • You folks have a really nice blend. Good interpretation, too.

  • TUBAS ROCK nice tone quality for high and low notes very nice i am a tuba player myself #2 in the state.

  • Great job!

  • Awesome! Well done! I got goose bumps. I played 1st chair trumpet in high school and our quintet played this as well. Got a I rating in the area school competition. Good times!

  • great job on this song, the video quality and the tuba player, make this video look like something out of the 70's

lol, sound quality is great, awesome job, by far.

  • hahahahahahahaha you're right. wow, it does look old school....

  • Our brass quintet is doing this song. Nic job. =]

  • All your songs were a pleasure to listen to, definitely professional caliber, good intonation, blend and musicality. I'd love to play in a quintet like this.

  • bravissimi, Molto bello.

  • Fantastic recording! I really enjoyed some of the musical choices you've made :)

  • Played this In HS...only quintet to get a 1 that year at the Texas State Solo & Ensemble

I am a performance major on tuba....and I study music history....the tubist is pretty good.....

THE TEMPO IS TOO FAST....the judge at UIL regional almost didnt send us to state....renaissance music wasnt played this fast

  • That is so ironic! I did the same thing playing the tuba part on Bass trombone. (We also were the only ones to get a 1; in Texas, too. I think it was 2007) .

  • 2004

  • We played this for our State solo and Ensemble last year unfortunately. We had a piece already selected, but our band director made a mistake and it turned out to be a quartet! We ended up taking fifth in the Washington State Solo and Ensemble competition though. And we have another one coming up. We're going to be burning! And we're doing a trumpet quartet along with a solo I'm performing! Whew! Busy year!

  • It's pretty good overall... The tuba is killing you guys...ouch

  • My freshmen year we played this piece and made a one at state with me playing first trumpet, a pregnant sophomore as second trumpet, and seniors playing tuba horn and trombone. When we had finished the judge said that he hoped we planed on continuing our musical currier, as in continue playing our instruments for fun, and I laughed because the seniors were reluctant to even come and the sophomore was going to quit band.

  • I played this my Junior year in Highschool as Tuba. We would've gone to state, but our first trumpet decided "Oh, no, I'm not going to go" and we couldn't train a new one in time.

    I was upset.

  • Very nicely done! This is my favorite piece for brass quintet.

  • Nice job. I played this in high school three years ago during my sophomore year with a brass quintet. I played first trumpet. You guys actually had a good french horn player. lol. Great job to all of ya.
