Eglise is heaven sent . I saw her in Seattle as Violetta in La Traviata. She was extraordinary. Looking forward to seeing her in Miami as the lead in Lucia de Lammermoor. Brava!
Thanks for letting me be the first to give what will be a series of superlatives about this tremendous talent! I was deploring what I thought was the fact that there were no more singers after Mariella Devia to carry on the bel canto tradition. I repent of that thought. Here she is-- Eglise Gutierrez. WOW!!! There's a certain honesty in her performances that comes across clearly. Secure technique, and a freedom of expression that leaves you feeling like she's in love with the music. BRAVA!!

This is exactly what I thought. She will become the next godess of belcanto, once Devia has retired (which I hope won´t happen too soon!)
