i guess u did't heard about eyal mazig. although he is not a Contra bass player, he is one of the most talented bass player i have ever heard!!!!! and he is also a conductor!!!
@13L4CKV Dave Brubeck Quartet with the album "Time Out", Stan Getz & Joao Gilberto with the album "Getz/Gilberto", Duke Ellington Trio with the album "Money Jungle", Bill Evans Trio with the album "Waltz for Debby".
Ah, Avishai got a bit of his solo from the Oscar Peterson trio song,You look good to me. Amazing still. One of my favourites. I will forever remember.
@paisteguy799 i beg to differ. they all are, that's what makes humans special. each gets to relate to that art form or music genre that best suits their sensibility. for you it's jazz. ;)
@bombitza thats what makes us diverse, but not necessarily respectable, because to some individuals, they listen to fucking lil wayne or katy perry, and listening to talentless acts backed by tons of money is not special, just ignorant
Although I love every one of the dozen or so different videos of this song, this version, (Cohen's solo)' is my favorite! i can feel every note and I find myself drifting into some other place... someplace unfamilier yet very comfortable, like returning home after many years...
Although I love every one of the dozen or so different videos of this song, this version, (Cohen's solo)' is my favorite! i can feel every note and I find myself drifting into some other place... someplace unfamilier yet very comfortable, like returning home after many years...
I love finding out about new artists! Shit, without the internet, I would probably be listening to eminem or some other drugged out bum. This performance was nothing short of mind-blowing.
...bro, is Sam Barsh on piano for this gig at The Blue Note - Shai Maestro came later - but you're of course right, that bloody Shai is beyond reality
Avishai Cohen is simply amazing! I accidentally found his music while listening to Pandora Radio online; I think the song that was playing at the time was called "Arava." After listening to this song, I immediately logged onto youtube to see if there were any songs or videos by him. Sure enough there are lot's of song and videos of him! I was listening to Kyle Eastwood at the time and Avishai Cohen's music was next on the play list! I like Kyle but Avishai is my new favorite bassist!
@vitaminCpur Thanks! I actually heard them live today... and had a whole different experience... the piano playing was far from tedious... It was fantastic! And the percussionist was even better. Great concert!
@TheGuzber hehe me too. Can't place it. Maybe this actual tune featured in a film who knows, or maybe it's one of those things that happens with the finite number of notes we use ;)
In English:good! Euhh no, very very good.
la douceur faite musique. souvenir fait de belles phrases mélodiques, de silences éloquents, de respirations. Une résonance profonde et durable, douce mais si puissante. Merci pour ce dernier morceau, son leitmotiv a du mal à me quitter.
@litlewing I agree, although it's in spite of some of the more famous jazzmen, their labels and their pet critics, rather than because of them...this is one fine group though.
This song is soooo easy, gentle, subtile & smooth...and deply touching my heart...I´m getting profoundly addicted to it...have to play it on my piano and it´s soooo difficult...and listen what Avishai is playing from 2:24 ...amaaaziiiing !! Love you guys !!
Voici un morceau qui va me poursuivre au bout de la nuit, un solo de contrebasse que j'ai trouvé génial, des notes de piano comme des flocons, laissez-vous emporter. Je l'ai mis dans mes favoris. Six minutes de pur bonheur.
The Hammond organ line of "A Whiter Shade of Pale" was inspired by Johann Sebastian Bach's "Sleepers, Wake!" and "Air on a G String", but contrary to popular belief, the song is not a direct copy or paraphrase of any music by Bach,[17] although it makes clear references to both pieces. This similarity is referenced in the 1982 play The Real Thing by Tom Stoppard and the 1991 film The Commitments. The music also borrows ideas from "When a Man Loves a Woman" by Percy Sledge.[18]
I know jazz may not often be described as "badass", but this is badass. Thanks for getting me interested in bass again, Avishai. If I could be half as good as you, I would be happy and I could die tomorrow.
