WTF compare Elephant with Paladin is nonsense those two are totally different weapons looking on its purpose.. more close to the Paladin is "Hummel".. The Hummel ("Bumble Bee") was a self-propelled artillery gun based on the Geschützwagen III/IV chassis, armed with a 15 cm howitzer and in this time it has same role like Paladin today, Elephant was tank hunter or tank destroyer like the Russian SU85 etc.I would like to see Paladin like AT weapon on open field with clear sight on tank like target
Dr. Atwater: I sincerely respect both you and your credentials. However, in a previous documentary you stated (correctly) that the Panzer Mk VI (or PANTHER) was the best tank of WWII.
Why do these american shows always add so much crap (and calling out the same facts numerous times....). All I want to see is how they restore this tank
cant understand why they say "she" when they talk about the elephant. isnt a panzerjager/tankhunter or in real german Panzerjäger a male ? in german it is...
@FreedomFighterEx It's fact. Whether you want to believe or not, fact doesn't change.
To be honest, German Tiger is technically better than T-34 in term of armor and fire power, but when it comes to cost and productivity, it's pathetic.
@FreedomFighterEx I disagree, no matter how many lives T-34 cost. It would be insignificant compare to the number of lives that would be lost for losing the war. Also, when the 2 sides are not super unequal in power, quality always beat quantity. But T-34 has both: decent quality and fantastic quantity, that's why it's voted the best tank in WW2. If you were under the impression that T-34 has worse quality than average WW 2 tanks because if its number, you are deadly mistaken .
Ya I skipped that whold compaire/"evolution" of that paladin to Ferdie/Elephant...the Hummel/Wespe/Grille had much much much more in common in the evolution of Self-Propelled Artillery then a TANK DESTROYER...Neat show to watch tanks being taken appart but i take anything off TV with a big large mega humungo sized grain of salt for any "facts" they present.
Sorry to say, they must have experience moving heavy heavy tanks/tank destroyers at aberdeen. They have a Jagdtiger there, and it's a LOT wider and longer. And it's 6 tonnes heavier.
Omg is this documentary about the Elephant tank destroyer or M1 Abrams and M109? WTF has the Abrams to do with it anyway? oh right, it's american tv show, of course it has to include american stuff, whateveeeeer
First of all, they missed the point that the Ferdi is a Tankdestroyer and not a Selfpropelled Gun. And i dont like that fat Guy with the glasses, he always talks a lot of rubbish.
The Engine, wich is the heart of it all, Then the Turret wich is the second heaviest part, wich also Houses the Main Gun ( wich isen't a Light weith Either ) and Ammo. The Most notourious the Armor. But Tracks are Heavy, but do not believe any thing that These Channel Make you believe?
@ThePanzerWarMachine I hear the 100mm + bolt on armor (hence we had 200mm armor) of the Elefant/Ferdinand added 5 extra tonnes alround to the tank. The addition of a shield mantlet also added another tonne or so (not sure about this if my readings are right)
hmm like heavy tracks, 200 tons this guy is on drugs, i think he meant 2 tons

Tank Overhaul is full of U.S. propaganda, and showing the superiority of U.S. military equipment.

They done goofed... at 1:10 when describing the tracks of the M1 Abrams.
"These tracks weigh roughly 200 metric tons each"
200 tons each? that's 400 tons, or roughly 6 times the weight of the rest of the tank.

@kasmackba
the 3 Heaviest parts of a Tank are:
The Engine, wich is the heart of it all, Then the Turret wich is the second heaviest part, wich also Houses the Main Gun ( wich isen't a Light weith Either ) and Ammo. The Most notourious the Armor. But Tracks are Heavy, but do not believe any thing that These Channel Make you believe?
ThePanzerWarMachine 1 year ago
@ThePanzerWarMachine
You'r missing the point. You'r also talking about various parts of the tank that has got nothing to do with the faulty information in the video.
The video contains an error, it would have us believe that the tracks weigh 200 metric tons each.
The average M1 Abrams weigh about 65 metric tons.
Hence my initial claim, that the video is wrong, still stands.
