This is aurora garbage! Where's the feeling of it's romantic, mysterious and fascinating light? I've never seen an aurora that flutter like this!!! Stills are much better!
ok...auroras are the result of solar wind particles sneaking in thru gaps in our magnetic field. that's why one doesn't see auroras on planets or moons with a magnetic field. The lights are not born of this planet, but rather caused by interaction of solar wind and various elements in our outer atmosphere. Hence the differnet colours.
PLANETS EXIST IN SPACE AS A VORTEX BALL. tHEY TAKE IN PHOTONS JUST LIKE A BLACK HOLE AND SPIT THEM OUT. SCIENTISTS ARE BEGINNING TO UNDERSTAND THAT AURORA'S COME OUT OF THE EARTHS POLES. -- NOTICE HOW ALMOST ALL SATELLITE PHOTOS ARE BLACKED OUT OR PHOTSHOPPED AT THE POLES OF THE PLANETS.
The Northern Lights are indeed beautiful to behold - but let's not forget that what you are looking at here are streams of charged particles that emit ionizing radiation bombarding the upper atmosphere. Recently the aurora was seen over Northern Yorkshire here in England. Scientists called it a rare event: that only occurs every eleven years. Yorkshire people - some in their nineties - described it as weird and something never seen in living memory. Summer should be interesting this year.
This summer is not interesting for me, I can't see any auroras because I've day light 24 hours a day for three month! From May to August is only one single very long day! :-(
I agree but the Earth has survived this cycle of flare activity that was at its height in late January with NO consequences.(Other then the BEAUTIFUL AURORA) The REAL danger is the diminishing magnetic field that protects ALL life from Daily solar radiation. I believe that is why there is increased bee /fish and bird mass deaths which rely on magnetic fields for navigation
I'm wondering if this video is made by lots of long exposure pictures put together or is it with a video camera? Either way, I know for having experienced it that the eye doesn't catch the light the same way as our electronic devices, so most of the times, it looks more impressive on a picture than what you could actually see. Still very impressive and lucky to have caught the northern lights at their finest ^-^
These observations of the earth make it look more than a mere rock floating in space: It sparkles like a gem in the sunlight. Also watch the Northern Lights from space videos here.
The cool part about what you see in my opinion is that they look like cosmic radio waves. Floating across the sky. But if you want to see what a solar flare can do then just cook something in a microwave and you will see.
Ok, people around the world have been hearing humming or trumpet sounding stuff more like radio waves if you ask my opinion. Fish are dieing beaching themselves and what not. I have a Theory that all of this is from solar flares hitting certain places of the earth. I would say microwave signals is what they are hearing. Ever listen to a microwave hum when it is on. If you get hit with enough radiation you get nuked. Well I am thinking that is what is going on solar flares my theory that is.
i was at äkäslompolo at this day. unfortunately, clouds covered the view from our point, we've only seen half of this. but it was soooo amazing anyway :)
To morons: This is not a sign of the world ending in 2012, the suns solar activity peaks every 11 years, usually relasing a flare, this is the result of a solar storm, I am not a scientist or expert, and you do not need to be to realize this. It is beautiful, quit being retarded. There were solar storms so much stronger then this in the 1800s confirmed, despite this being the strongest one SINCE the 1950s.
Not surprising at all, among the worst I've ever seen, this is not what it looks like when you see an aurora in the sky! This is like you've got a lot of hysterical junk in your computer or TV, just before it explodes!
An aurora is not moving fast, sometimes you barely can see that it's moving at all. I know because I see them almost every night where I live. Auroras is the most romantic, lovely and beautiful thing you can see, this video is just a kind of hysterical movie wastes!
This is a great exposure!!! what ISO did you use on your camera? I wish it was visible from southeast ny, better yet long island. It did reach into Michigan i have heard, which is good and bad. It was good b/c people which normally dont see the aurora got a great show, but its bad b/c they arent exactly supposed to be able to. When auroras reach lower latitudes than expected, it means the sun had a burp of geomagnetic energy... wihch traveled pretty far.
@Samanthaa3200 Northern Lights have been always.. not just now, if it ends then it ends, if not then not.. i hate all things would ''show'' it ends in 2012..
@Samanthaa3200@Samanthaa3200 Hey genius! Go read a children's science book. The Aurora happen's every year. The Northern Lights are actually the result of collisions between gaseous particles in the Earth's atmosphere (magnetic field) with charged particles released from the sun's atmosphere.
@Samanthaa3200 Variations in colour are due to the type of gas particles that are colliding. The most common auroral color, a pale yellowish-green, is produced by oxygen molecules located about 60 miles above the earth. Rare, all-red auroras are produced by high-altitude oxygen, at heights of up to 200 miles. Nitrogen produces blue or purplish-red aurora. Every ten years or so the sun has elevated activity causing extreme Aurora's. FYI, the southern lights are called Aurora Australias.
"Ilmatieteenlaitos tiedottaa, että auringosta irronnut suuri magneettinen pilvi lähestyy Maata. Illan ja aamun kuluessa on odotettavissa revontulia, mikäli taivas on pilvetön ja pilven magneettinen rakenne on revontulille suosiollinen." -IL
If you're not amazed by this... then you're probably blind. In which case, I am very sorry you cannot witness this act of mother nature at her finest.
@CaymanCider111 mother nature has nothing to do with this.. this happens when daddy Sun fucks up mother earth with his solar cum(radiation) ! and its not a great deal comparing to what i ve witnessed through the hubble happening in the Universe during my last visits..
@geishathor maybe has something to do with the trainsit of venus, among other things. so many celestial anomalies if this isnt the year that we have all been waiting for then i give up on foresight.
why can't i just watch a normal aurora video without having to face all these stupid "end of the world bullshit conspiracy" videos in the sidebar -_-
