Isn't it strange the script writers then could get more meaning & pathos out of a pilchard dinner than all the contrived murder plots, baby snatching, fires & whatever desperate measures they use in soaps now to hide the fact they can't write meaningful scripts that convey reality like they used to.
@flaxonx3 Very true. You wonder what barrel scrapping measures are coming next in order to draw in viewers brought up on a diet of Heat magazine, the X-Factor and Gameboys....let's see. Aliens attack Weatherfield and a battle with the cast with lazer guns outside the Rover's Return? A cross-dressing serial killer on the loose? Guest appearance by Katie Price? Time travel twist that brings Ena Sharpels and Annie Walker back from the grave and traps Fizz in the 1960s?
@TomthatiscalledTom Yes they may as well just call time on these soaps and show those CSI American cop shows in their place if people just want psychos, murders and extreme drama on tap without a break for conveying normal mundane life in a way that engages viewers.
@purplebanana1000 . I don't watch coronation Street regular but yes it was better how it used to be. There was more comedy in it and the charactors were much better.
@nealthedude I don't watch watch it much myself. I agree that the characters were much better. A lot of characters in soaps now seem to have the morals of alley cats.
Judy Finnigan, Damn it Girl, bet you wish you knew at this point that one day you would be standing accepting an award with ya tits hanging out and you would be married to a massive Tw*t..........
Lol @ this. My late Mother loved Corrie, this little clip brings back a lot of memories. Thanks for sharing it.

Ah, the good old days. Stan and Hilda. Percy and Phyllis. Derek and Mavis (and their gnome). The writers were so much better then.
These days it seems the average age of the writers is about 16 yrs old. And they have about as much sense of humour as a toilet seat!

@purplebanana1000 Not humorous? Norris, Mad Mary, Blanche, Eileen, even Ken and Dierdre's arguments
- they've all made me laugh over the last few years.
