Wow, I've never seen a VTR like this before! Is this like a EIAJ recorder with an internal tape takeup reel, or are the reels in the cassette stacked on top of each other?

This is the 3th. generation from the VCR System.Super Video Recording from 1978 developed by Grundig.

Sehr schön mit der durchsichtigen Kassette! Um Verwechslungen zu vermeiden: die genannten Vorgängermodelle benutzten die selben Kassetten, aber andere Bandgeschwindigkeiten und Köpfe. Es gibt drei Systeme mit diesen Kassetten, aber jedes Gerät kann nur eines davon aufzeichnen und wiedergeben. Für Details bitte Wikipedia benutzen.
