  • Is there anything more wonderful than this?

How old is Anita?...(maybe 19 if this is 1952?)

    Really enjoy the comments here....

and yes, definitely, "sexual tension"...so sweet!

  • Love It!!!!

  • Am I the only one that thinks that Anita is much more beatiful than June?

  • @MrRifleman270 Bigotry much?

  • I loved and still do Anita... Of course we all know Hank was the best that ever lived. This music made me so sad as a kid and it still does today. I hope they are both in Heaven... R.I.P..

  • Amazing. Miss you Hank!

  • ♪♪♪♪♪♪♥

  • dont know what else to say, this is quite possibly the best music video of all time.

  • this is gold! where did you find this?!

  • How can six people dislike this? Did they press the button by mistake?

  • Can't get enough of this video..i could listen to the first 22 seconds over and over...nothing against Hank of course! W-O-W...What a voice!

  • Perfect as can be! Hard to believe 6 people dislike it.But hard to believe that the junk they call country music now that anyone would like!

  • Kate Smith Evening Hour. April 23, 1952. (See HANK WILLIAMS: The Complete Website). He's 28. She's 19. They sing a fine duet. They make eye contact.

  • god bless you hank williams sr

  • What a great clip! How could someone dislike this!

  • They would have made a great couple, made some good lookin kids...they could pass for brother and sister!

  • @Eddieguitarloebs that's kinda sick ^^

  • *sparks!*

  • She is THE female singer period.

  • anyone know what year this was?

  • Truly one of the most amazing moments in the history of true country music.

  • What ever changed music from this . This is as good as it will ever be. Keep your rAP CRAP AND JUNK SHIT AWAY FROM ME

  • THIS IS MAGIC!

  • I find this almost unbearably beautiful. Thank you for posting.

  • @santasprees you wrote down my thoughts on this: truely unbearably beautiful....

  • I cannot play this on my iPad. I would love to watch it.

  • Today I passed you on the street

and my heart fell at your feet..

I can't help it if I'm still in love with you.,,

    WOW..powerful lyrics.

    I just love Hank Williams

  • Ha ha @1LOCKNLOAD My Dad always said " A wrinkle on a pimple on a piss ant's balls!

  • FOR THE 6 DISLIKES... Y'ALL WOULDN'T MAKE A PIMPLE ON A HOG'S A_ _

  • Anita was a pretty girl and Hank williams well a pioneer for country two beautiful people singing together

  • Nice harmony even before all the modern day studio mixing magic and voice cheating. wow.

  • Awww that was so sweet. I love the way they sing together. I love that song and I love Hank.

    Ginger

  • Hank Williams is just another level

  • @jsberger

Indeed! Hank Williams Sr. is THE level!

  • You can just feel the passion in this video! The way Hank looks at her! Its like she is falling in love with ol Hank as the song goes along! A true Masterpiece!

  • Hank should've married Anita instead of Audrey. Audrey kept pressuring him to do more, more, and more.It eventually got on his nerves and he started drinking heavy. And it ended up killing him in the end. There is know dought about it Hank was the master in Country music. He was a geneous when it came to singing.

  • Thank you for this post.

  • This song always tear me apart. This man could frekin write

  • i think he thought it was audrey he was trying to run over and not the carter family. june said hank was crazy about audrey, where ever he went he would think he saw audrey even at a football game.

  • Great song by two of the greatest! Hank Williams you wrote my life....

  • I wander if he did or didnt, get any from her!!!

  • @bluegrasslives60

No its pretty much known that he wasnt--but wanted to. He was jealous about it and almost killed them in a car with M Maybelle and she told him "dont you call me Mama!" He was the one that started the term referring to her. The book will you miss me when im gone makes it pretty clear that he likely did not succeed in getting any but then was dead fast. He also came up to the house and shot his pistol and was out of control and out of the carter scene pretty much till the end

  • @bluegrasslives60 no doubt he did

  • I'm floored by this performance. Magnificent. Thanks for linking it!

  • 5 people couldn't help it

  • You don't have to say Hank Williams, Sr. Just say Hank Williams; everyone will know what you mean.

  • this is one amazing performance!! Hank is still the man and always will be!! Nobody can touch him!

  • Anita is 6 miles away from the Sex & the City girls. I prefer Anita's style - although the 4 girls from S & the City are funny. And I love Anita's voice and Hank is awesome too.

  • Hank was a rascal and one of a kind, no one can match him. The way he looks into Anita is just plain *done*...no matter the sexual dynanimcs, they are just incredible to listen to, together.

  • Wow this is much better than that bastardized modern-music-video version that VEVO made.

  • These two should have gotten married. Audrey was a bitch and ruined him.

  • he was the original, the best. only serves he dies at 29, dec 30th, 1952.

  • This clip is a gem. From what I've read, there was some sexual tension between Anita and Hank. Just watch her eyes and expressions. June Carter was the more popular and raucous entertainer, but soft spoken Anita was always my favorite. Hank, of course, needs no introduction nor explanation.

  • How handsome was old Hank?

  • brought up on this type music and still love it. Beeats all this so-called modern shit they call music and actually win awards for...well thats got me stuffed.....

  • The only Carter sister who could sing, ha.

  • Not only is she cute as a speckled pup, the pair of them are magic together. Never thought old black & white TV could emit steam. What a classic pairing!

  • Man, Anita had some pipes...

  • Miss Anita Carter and Mr. Hank Williams Sr. Doesn't get any better. Can anybody spell W-O-W? If you can't just say W-O-W.

  • @jtitmphi100 this is very good its what im about, they are real people singing of live, thank you for bringing it back

  • I'm a Hank Williams fan.I love his music.I've listened to him since I was little.I have so many favorite songs its impossible to name them all. This is real country music,I don't no what the stuff thats playing out there today, but it sure isn't country music thats for sure. They call it country but its nothing more then pop music. I'm a country listener from the late 50's to the early 80's.

  • @sunriseelaine2003 your so right, the county music from the past, makes this shit from to day look real good.!!!!!

  • The most authentic country music.

  • The longing, the emotion, the need. This beats a meat dress any day.

  • Wow Anita Carter!

  • The camera man picked up a great moment when he showed Hank's shadow before even seeing Hank himself. This is GREAT!!!!

  • i hope they kissed after singing this song

  • I was grown up on hank WILLAMS music and I love it very day.

  • No question about it Appalachain Angel isn't even close

  • You know Hank was a professional without peer- if any other guy had seen that smile up close he'd have lost it right then and there.

  • Very n ice duet with Anita Carter. Don't see may Hank Williams film clips(not many out there) but it was a touching performance.

  • That was Sweet!

    Thanks!

  • Old Hank could work over any crowd or female admirer. He had it in spades. The only problem being his back pain and the large amount of opiate painkillers he took to kill the pain. Add to that a half case of beer and a few shots....Hank missed alot of performances and only made this one because the band made sure he didn't drink before the preformance. That to was a rarity as Hank did pretty much whatever he wanted to do. He'd be gone a little more than 9 months later...

  • "An accomplished stand-up bassist with a beautiful soprano voice, Anita Carter also appeared on television shows like ''The Kate Smith Evening Hour,'' where she could be seen singing with (and being wooed by) Hank Williams in one of the legendary country singer's few television appearances." (Anita Carter obit online at NYT) The feelings look genuine and reciprocal to me. Date April 23, 1952.

  • this was done in march 1952, hank had 9 more months to live.

  • Hard to imagine that he was only in his twenties.

  • hank meant it.

  • wiki says anita had a top 10 hit in 1951. so I bet it is 1951 or 1952 when her star had risen - to justify putting her on tv. she'd have been about 19 here. wow! there is a nice blend of voices here. of course, anita would have been well trined in chorus type of harmonies with her work in her family.

  • Watch her eyes.

  • I loved this. I love reading about their lives and I am so thankful for You Tube. I bet they would be surprised to know people all around can sit at home and see and hear this.

  • Wonderful

  • that's real...

  • that's real...

  • "awesome" seems lame, but what more can be said

  • what yr was this recorded? gorgeous. wiki says Hank was born in '23, about 10 yrs before anita. wiki says hank died at 29. shoot , they both were so young, but yet, they sang with the souls of ones much older who have experience the weight of the world.

  • @idic5 I was thinking about the same. I can't deduce the year :S

  • @txustaboy must be before January 1, 1953. Look at those studs on his collar! also, txusaboy, I saw that you had a spanish comment to your reply (in my email). I was curious : are you from spain, mexico or a hispanic country? if so, is there an interest in this kind of american country music out there, or are you an exception?

  • Man, just to be thankful for hearing and seeing this, thank you, as there will not be another soulful loveable moment like that, RIP, both of you, and wish you had married her with kids, God, would that have been great, for him. Just maybe.....

  • i wanna marry a girl just like her.

  • How can anyone not like this song?

  • I can't help it if I like this performance so much!

  • Beautiful, timeless..

  • Truly a fine piece. Pity the video quality is so poor. The looks they exchange are unforgettable.

  • Hank destroys this woman! She is so smitten! Notice how she can't bear to look at him. Hank done cast his spell on her as he did many a young lady. Ain't Hank handsome and charmin' when he's sober? The best clip of Hank you'll ever see.

  • @Kjensful oh she done melted like butter haha

  • Jesus I love Hank.

  • i think its cute anita looks like she has a big crush on hank

  • @mjiscoolandsweet who wouldn't? lol! for a guy who passed almost 30 years before I was born, he was a good lookin guy, I think!

  • did you know that elvis proposed to anita years later, she turned him down because at the time he was too young for her !

  • @RickManchester he was only two years younger than her right?

  • Hank was very much in Love with Anita....thats why this video is so magical.

  • Country Soul!! You really see Hank pouring his heart out... sincerity, the key to a country singer.

  • W O W ! ! !

  • I've watched at least 100 times - I feel the same way. There are so few live recordings of Hank, and this is one of the best.

  • I'm no Rambo guy, so I write: this is so sweet! And both have such beautiful voices. But Anita Carters's voice is just beautiful X 2!

  • Doesn't anyone have a problem with the fact that Anita was probably 16 or 17 when this was recorded? Love Hank but that's kind of creepy.

  • I was just a kid when Hank was in his hey day, been hearing him all my life. It's sure good to see the two of them on this clip, seems like we should be able to call them up and chat a bit, very real indeed.

  • This is one of the most romantic songs ever written, and this performance is truly breathtaking. I've got a CD of Hank performing this song without Anita Carter, but their duet is SO much better!!

  • Pure magic! Their voices melded so well and Hank's charismatic charm and magnetism would make any woman melt, unless they were made of stone!

  • @vgoth100 I also meant to add that Hank's persistent eye contact with her, even when she looks away, is a surefire killer to melt a woman's heart...if he was putting it on, he sure did a fabulous job of being interested....ooo, danger!

  • See the look in her eyes? She had to hold herself back from smooching him right in front of the camera.

  • It's still an amazing song. The memories have flooded my brain, even more, considering e source!

  • Absolutely mesmerizing!!

  • Was this song ever studio recorded with Anita and Hank (If so what is the name of the CD) or is this video the only recorded version in existence?

  • This is really special. I think this is the first time I have seen Hank perform a complete song on video/film. Thanks for sharing.

  • I think Anita had that old time feeling all right

  • That don't make entertainer like this anymore....too bad.

  • What a legend....

  • I 'm certainly dumb, I do nothing about their private lifes. But I see a glimpse of love in Anita's eyes. If Hank could forget that bottle for a while, who knows...? He might have lived with nightingale years to come...?

  • @petereuropa

Maybe, but Hank sure loved miss Audrey. When she told him she wanted a divorce, he said "Audrey I won't live another year without you."

And that turned out to be right.

I believe Miss Audrey truly loved Hank too. She never remarried, you know.

  • @Rabadamtimtimti Well, we cannot rewind time. But these two artists are awesome together.

  • @Rabadamtimtimti I think that's true enough, but gosh, look at them in this video. There is definitely something there. It gives me chills. Can't you feel the spark?... Maybe more like a fire?...

  • I can't believe that there is only 3 videos of Hank Sr. This, Cold Cold Heart, and Hey, Good Lookin'. Oh wait, there was I Saw The Light too. :D

  • anita carter looks so beautiful in this video, you just dont have singers like her anymore, things like this make me wish i lived back then

  • This is amazing. I love Anita. Definitely my favorite Carter sister. It's a shame June got stuck with the dumb girl/helium voiced shtick.

  • Thanks for posting this, simply great, just look at those innocent eyes.

  • Dang she sher iz purty!!

  • @teslaphysics

Yep. The best looking of the sisters in my opinion. But more importantly, she had the best voice of the bunch.

  • it does not get a whole lot better than this,

  • looking to talk to rockinr gator

  • There is more to this than people know. Ol' Eck would have nothing of it, although Hank was welcomed in the Carter home like a son until he shot at Audrey and almost his June. Maybelle quick calling him "Son"

  • If anyone leaves a thumbs down they dont have ears for music. Just dont get better than this!

  • Now this here is a little slice of perfect! Dear Anita in the full flower of her voice -- yes, and her beauty -- and brother Hank, full on, during the best part of his career. How lucky we are that they performed this together, that it was captured, that it was kept, and that HotRocker41 posted it! Thanks! Oh, and how 'bout brother Hank puttin' that ol' wiley-dog smile on her at the end? Yep, a couple of greats, in a darned good video -- a little slice of perfect!

  • .

    What a great classic.

That is one of the best songs ever recorded.

    Thank you for posting.

    ★★★★★!

    .

Love to hear what you think of my Northern Cowboys vid.

I wrote and sing the song, stop by anytime.

    Thanks agin, Tom

  • wow time to ring out the panties

  • If a girl keeps looking at your mouth it means she wants to kiss you, and her eyes were all over Hanks mouth....she wanted him bad.

  • @FaithIsAnnoyed maybe she's acting, because it's a love song

  • What show is this from?

  • This was from a TV show in New York called the Kate Smith Hour - 1951, I think. Also featured Roy Acuff and June Carter

  • That's real country music! Today's "country music" doesn't compare!! (:

  • PM=Pure Magic

  • Love it!

  • If leave a thumbs down for this you don`t have a soul

  • @crystaltanfield ...2 skanky people don't have a soul! >:[

  • They were awesome in this! Thanks for this!

  • WOW This is all kinds of good

  • This is unquestionably one of the greatest moments on early television. Both were tops at what they did.

  • the bad boy of country. so funny though he made country what it is today. a drunk with a good song and broken heart. hope I don;t end it today but the wife off 22 yrs is gone ,for another man . not much left but to go down in the river 3 times but only coming up twice.

  • @scrappydo49 Wait a year and see if you still want to do that

  • @scrappydo49, hi, hope things don't look so black to you now. I know how songs like this can make you feel even sadder, but things change and you don't know what the future may bring. Best wishes. x

  • It dont come better than that ! Wow.

  • Wow thats a nice video,,,,,real country music........

  • This is beautiful. The voices blend wonderfully, and ol Hank just does a simple pick-strum that has so much feeling.

I wouldn't tell this to many people, but about 30 years back I made a pilgrimage to Oak Hill WV.

Some of the posts imply they had some kind of history. Is this truth or speculation.

  • hank was ten years older

  • Wow!!!! What a magical moment in television history. The chemistry between Hank and Anita is awsome.

  • The two best country voices ever, Anita Carter and Hank Williams, Sr. Wish they could have sang together more often.

  • I love it so much

  • Beautiful song. I could listen to it over and over. And everytime one person comes to mind. I am still inLove with You.... I will always Love You.

  • Anita eyes tell the whole story.. she was in love!!

  • They should've been married.

  • i got that ol time feeling - good to know a duet can still melt my skinny ass to warm jello. please stay by me, anita. paul anka circa 1956. this my darlin i've been told. all you correctionists, stand in line...
