I have a 10 month old ocicat and he was rehomed due to the first owner being allergic. He is a real sweetheart and too damn smart for his own good! The bad habit he got from the previous owner is being let on the table just like this one. That is a very bad thing to allow pets on food serving areas. It has been very difficult to break him from doing this. While not much of a lap cat and mostly very quiet unless he locks himself in somewhere. Much smarter than the average human!
i also have an oci... believe me when i say that they can be very manipulative. i love my oci, but he does things just to annoy me at times. they aren't the typical cat. i think they tend to be a bit more intelligent than the ordinary house cat. i have watched my oci knock something over (sometimes on my other cats head) just to see what happens. i also would never let mine outside either, he is just too curious and a trouble maker. i think my next cat will again be a n oci!
My ocicat is outside any time she wants, she brouts me mice and birds :( that's her nature, but she's always around the house. Garden is her kingdom, never farther. Don't worry that your ocicat won't come back, it's 100% family cat. Hour of walking and she's back. Pozdrowienia z Torunia dla cierpliwej kici. Wygląda jak moja Celina:)
Do you keep this cat inside or let it out? It's just I'm interested in this breed and someone said that you must keep this cat inside because it's very strong and athletic and a really good hunter! Because if I had to keep it inside it would really put me off the breed...
@Scorpian360 This is the most amazing breed of cat I have ever experienced. He has many characteristics of a dog. I've had several types of cats in the past, but would never consider another breed after having this cat. He stays indoors, but at times he has been free to roam. No problems here.
@Scorpian360 With the amount of money you're going to spend on an Ocicat, would you really want it outside where someone could potentially steal or harm it? I've had 2 oci's in my life over the past 10 years and I'd never let them outdoors. Then again, I live in a city.
The one and only intelligent being in this piece is The Cat. Still, i fear, that the owners of this beautiful animal would not wish to hear the thoughts of this (oci)cat.
However, this video truly demonstrates some fine feline qualities, and less eloquent human behaviour .
@givaktblandning We hear his thoughts all the time.... Ocicats are very vocal. What is wrong with the human behavior? Should we have just let him go at it?
Hmmmmmm.... Nice cat, but I'm not so sure about the owners.... what is the point? We have two ocicat boys and they're so stupid, funny, etc they have many more interessed things to shoot about every day!
she wants you guys to GTFO

LOL, he's just pretending to show restraint. Try walking out of the room for 5 minutes. Half of that fish would be eaten.

Very impressive, and definitely NOT cruel of you.
so many people seem to think training an animal not to eat food off the table is 'mean' in some way

cooked food isnt always good for cats, especialy food with bones, as cooking changes the way the bones break.

@Ocicats same here, Ive known both cats and dogs to actually get in your lap and on the table to steal food directly from your plate while eating it
which i bloody hate
