@hybrionlu SLR Mclaren 722 has official record of doing 0-60 in only 3.4 sec with a top speed of 209 mph. Audi R8 has official record of doing 0-60 in 3.6 sec with a top speed of 198.8 mph only. So I will let the audience be the judge ...

@orlovef yeah didn't watch and pay attention to the stats of the cars but the message is that in this case you couldn't replace the mercedes in the vid by a mclaren, it would just be unfair:P

@orlovef well I think that an audi has much more style and looks more snazzy than a bmw but that's an affair of taste:P for an audi-fan like me, I'm proud and happy that audi has won this race but the film is a bit (much) exaggerated. I agree with you that bmw vs benz would have been a better duo as (in my opinion) bmw and benz coupé cars can't keep up with audi's coupé cars as for example A8, S8 or RS(4,5,)6.

@hybrionlu Audi is perhaps more suitable good looking sedan for family not for such road race. So I am not sure the "keeping up" thing is realistic. If we look at the real performance stats and the line of racing beasts BMW & Benz produces, Audi is no where near. After driving all of these lux vehicles, my choice has always been BMW for it's performance on curves and quick smooth acceleration.

@orlovef well can't say that audi has no good race cars. look at the audi r8 lms( or the audi r18 but that's irrelevant here as we talk about road race) or the audi ttrs race car...of course are the m3 and the sls amg great race cars but at for example the 24h nürburgring, audi was class-winner talking about the gt3 cars. but audi is not only for family, it's a combination depending on the car..

@orlovef .an r8 is only for racing (and as you said and i agree with it, is it not the best an can be beaten by a mclaren) but an rs6 avant with 5 seat places and 580ps is a combination out of race car and family car. so our discussion leads no into an affair of taste :)
