there is no discrimination or oppression at work in Ukraine especially when compared to Russification and social engineering programs inflicted by past colonial Soviet Russia - official language is not restricted to only Ukraine in the world - most countries expect foreigners and immigrant to conform to their sovereign norms and rule of Law

The Russians killed Ukrainians for speaking Ukrainian, and in Ukraine everyone should speak the official language like it is in every country - do you see members of parliament in Germany speaking Turkish for example???

@adelwogboy Your anology is totally off. Was Turkish ever an official language in Germany? Are there any areas of Germany that historically belonged to Turkey? Both of these questions apply to the situation in Ukraine as you well know. Your demanding that everyone in Ukraine speak only Ukrainian is comparable to if the Canadian government overnight abolished the official status of French in Quebec and made everyone there do eveything in English.

@adelwogboy Ukraine should have two offical languges. Countries like Switzerland do just fine with multiple official languages. Get over the Soviet/ Russian Empire's language policy. Russian speakers in Southern and Eastern Ukraine have nothing to do with what those governments did in the past. Ukrainian nationalism is ridiculous. Even Gogol, a Ukrainian born author, is only read in foreign literature courses at universities in Ukraine now. That is absurd.

its not as though they are trying to make them forget the natural language, but they are kinda required to speak the official language, its not based on destroying the russian communitys identity, its based on dicerning the ukrainian identity FROM the russian.
