Well, that is just completely wonderful, and I cannot but concur, football (or footy, as they say) is a complete waste of time. Blimey, it was great to hear that, as sometimes I am under the impression that everybody has joined this cult, this weird and strange religion of the so-called "beautiful game" . . . Having said that though, I must also confess to not liking any other sport either. Still, all's well that ends well, it was really a breath of fresh air to hear your confession. Cheers!
I don't like sports much at all, save for horse racing and horseback riding. I prefer chess or something that makes me think. People call me weird, but I call myself pre middle aged, lol. BTW, I'm glad you're still making videos. I got worried, but then again, today is the 100th birthday of some lady who goes to our church.
LOL Peter! The story of your childhood football experience really made me giggle. As usual, you've posted another way to make me smile. Thank you, dear Granddad!
Your not the only one who's not intrested in soccer. Now i have a son and in a teeny weeny back off my head i hope that he's also not intrested in soccer :-)
I do like other sport, but soccer... naah! thats nothing for me.
interesting as ever! my husband is italian and LIVES for soccer! (yeah, i'm american) my son was good at it (his nickname was little pele) but didn't keep up with it. Love you!
I have had a lifetime love of football and Glasgow Celtic in particular. I know it's not for everyone, but I think if you went to a game and took in the atmosphere, you would enjoy it.
Ha! It's the same for me here in Australia. I really don't like rugby or Australian rules football, and the sports are so popular it's pretty much expected that you know everything about them and you know which teams to support. Oh well.
Very enjoyable video once again, I too am a firm fan of motosports and motorbikes, and would like to see just one video dedicated to your favourite bikes, favourite motorsport races and so on.
Keep up the good work, you have quite a large loyal following now! :)
Cross country runs, and paper chases eh!, ... and Peter, if you thought you were lousy at football, then you should have seen me in any type of run, I was absolute rubbish, ... I had a friend, with whom I was always, as in ALWAYS! last , or second to last, without fail, ... every ... single ... time! ( even when we tried to cheat! ) :-)
I enjoy football only during the World Cup (during this world competition I watch every match - hehe). However, the intern championships in Brazil are sooooo many and all of them happen at the same time, practically, so all this intensity makes me tired! It's football all the time, so it makes me sense it as "not special".
Glad to see you finally made it to Confession. As for the disclosure of your sin, please recite 3 Hail Caesars, stay away from football, and go and sin no more...!
Check out the pic at 1:20 .. shirts off, not a fat kid amongst them, I'd like to see a modern comparison with the bloated masses wondering the school yards these days!
I'm Canadian and I'm one of those people who hasn't the smallest interest in hockey. I think I've been to 2 hockey games in my life. I'm impressed by their skills, I just can't gather enough interest to pay attention to a sport that is over-hyped and rife with fan rivalry. And sadly, too much pressure is put on young players to excel early since it's the only way to be good enough for the national hockey league. So parents are pushy and kids are violent and it's all too competitive too early.
I like a little a bit of all sports, but cannot be tied to them to the point that they rule my life. Variety is the spice of life. Went to a hockey games once and started to leave after two periods. There are three. People thought i wuz nuts.
for some reason i really can get into the world cup and when it finishes i always say i must support a team because i seem to really enjoy it but i never do!
That takes me back, Peter. We always had to do cross-country in the snow, when the football pitches were unusable.A group of us would make it a social occasion. We ambled around the street course, larking about and making jokes, with our skinny legs glowing bright red from the cold. We always stopped at the sweet shop to get some goodies, and warm up our now freezing extremities. The teacher never asked why we took 2 hours to cover a 20 minute run, while he stood shivering, waiting for us.
Always great to see one of your posts pop up on an otherwise dreary day, Peter. You're a man after my own heart, brother--I couldn't give a tinker's damn what sports exhibition is on--but I usually suffer through it to make guests at home. I thought I was the only one in this regard. Gimme a motorcycle, and let the other folks watch the boob tube while I ride. Then we're all happy.

Football (soccer) is soooo much better for the players and it might be growing in the US. Sadly, the timing structure for the game doesn't allow for televised beer commercials (sad but true) so it has a handicap here.
I think American Football is a real snore fest.
Be well and I can 'harley' wait to hear about your next adventure. ;)
Being Irish, I have to support Manchester United; and I certainly do, very passionately actually lol. It's only a game but I like it :)
When England won the World Cup in 1966 I bet you were just a liiiittle bit excited about it, no? The atmosphere in England must have been amazing at that time.
Nice to hear from you Peter, I'm not a football guy either, I did enjoy the hockey world championship games, it's a shame that Finland didn't reach the final games :(
As a kid, I was, as all boys of the little town I lived back then, to join the local football team when I was around 7 years old.
But exactly then, I got chronic Asthma, and really bad. Sports that included running were a no-go from then. So I was not able to attend to the task of kicking the leather bladder, not as a private delight, and not for the fame and glory of Chancellor and Country ...
Well, I really think, this turn of events were for the best, for all of us - including me :-)!

Oh Peter, you're a delight, and always entertaining!
PS - Don't have much use for British Football - now an American Football game leave most 1st time spectators
in baffling excitement, and If you're not up on the rules, rooting for your team, is a task. I love the game, personally.
Cheers!
