It's from his younger days, not too long after he won the Chopin Competition. I know it's a cliche but I like it so much more than his later playing. At the same time good on him for championing contemporary music. I'm too lazy to listen to it but I hope I get off my arse some day and give it its fair due.
@wolfgango1991 , I recalled clearly this piano recording album as it was the truly best recording of this concerto. It was recorded by Pollini when he was the same young age as Chopin he had written the concerto---21. Pollini is now in his 70s or more so the recording was done was done sometimes in the 1960s.
WS199911さんに 全く同感です。
屁理屈こねるな と思います。
感性 ひたすら 感性。
Eye completely agree with WS199911's opinion.
Never talking about any objection concerning the great masterpiece made by GOD !!

Most likely it is THE recording with Paul Kletzki and Philharmonia Orchestra of London back in 1960 when Pollini was only 18.

Blaah... A sleepy piece full of harmonic ennui and deeply uninteresting string arrangements. This might be my least favorite by Chopin.

@annefrankisaho true but not in absolute sense. it has its moments.

Chopin's Orchestra pieces are simply beautiful; but when he plays that piano its always genius.

The conductor is Paul Kletzki, with the Philharmonia Orchestra. It was recorded in 1960, I believe.

When it was recorded? Who is the conductor? Please, can you ask? Thanks

@wolfgango1991, sorry, but I don't know. I really would like to know it, too, but it's just written "Piano: Maurizio Pollini" in my cd.
