  • i don't understand this exercise, it is the first time that i see it, someone can explain to me?what is the purpose of this? it's look like a deadlift with one hand, and in this way 126 kg don't looks too heavy

  • @anthraxale It's the size and shape of the handle, you essentially hold it with a squeeze of your fingers and not a full grip as you would in a deadlift. Requires major grip strength.

  • respect frrom turkey, this guy is amazing

  • be my dad

  • no hating but sorry magnus your arms dosent look like 60cm frank mc grath will crush your out with his arms

  • @hempnight250 It's stupid to compare a strongman to a bodybuilder.

Bodybuilders train for mass while strongmen train for strength.

A bodybuilder is bigger than a strongman but much weaker.

  • @Sokan1993 Bodybuilders aren't any bigger, they look bigger because they're smaller in height and have less fat.

  • ...and occasionally use Synthol.

  • @hempnight250 remember magnus is just under 6ft 7. of course he aint gna look that big on this video, if you ever meet him in real life you'll see how big he really is!

  • @hempnight250 and frank mcgrath is only 5ft11, just for the record

  • I don't know about the rest of you, but Magnus' voice is kickass awesome. Swedish power

  • got my rolling thunder recently.....silly question but will it help improve grip strength for captains of crush grippers?

  • I wonder who would win in a grip contest out of Mark Felix, and Samuelsson. What do you guys think?

  • @tastefulphrasing Thats the smae I hae been wondering, my faorite is magnus of course

  • It wouldn't be wise to shake hands with him right after a training

  • wow.. wonder how much he could have done if he was fresh...

  • BTW: it's kinda' silly these absurd names they come up W/ - should use descriptive 1's like "1 arm lift" - how hard is that?

  • I onley did 70 kg :/

  • Magnus is a fucking pimp. I wonder if this record still strands?

  • Magnus seems like such a nice person. If the scale is that important why not get a scale that you can read with the weights on it. Something that can be certified by the state or who ever needs to do that.

  • He will go to valhall when i dies.

  • Magnus is amazing. As an athlete and especially as a person. Very down to earth. My son's middle name is Magnus.

I'm working on getting to 100KG(currently at 90KG) on Rolling Thunder, and you need to do other grip work to assist you with Rolling Thunder.

  • Not that I could ever do it or anything like that, but I am surprised that the world record is only 129kg. I've never tried this lift, so I don't know the feel of the handle or anything, I just would have assumed it would be higher. It's amazing how different a lift can be when you actually try it.

I've always love Magnus. He was probably the first WSM competitor that I was really on board with.

  • try it.. fat handle and it rotates. I have done 95kg, it is HARD AS HELL.. AND I got smal hands. that dosn't help..

  • he is my favourite strongman.. even though i am polish, pudzianowski is awesome but he doesnt have this guys heart or humility... magnus is an awesome guy!!

  • @XenatR The Polak is just another steroid freak. He looks almost twice his age. I'm sure by 50 his organs will start turning 2 mush =))

  • @Deathrape2001 I think that magnus is clean. his tag is big and natural. thats what you always hear. he has passed all the drug test.

  • @spidanez They should really cut the krap sometime & have a 'junkie olympics' or something - where all the 'roid rage dorx can jack on PCP & meth & whatever & go super human 4 an hour HAHA Now THAT will B fun 2 watch - all the magnificent injuries - maybe even some accidental dismemberment? Like walking with some heavy thing, & the arm rips off hand still grabbing on it - 'cuz the shoulder couldn't take 1,000 or something HAHA

  • @Deathrape2001 man whether you want to belive it or not, anyone on a professional level of any sport has done an illegal performance enhancing drug. steroids are not the only thing atheletes take to get bigger and stronger. there are way stronger and harsher drugs out there. steroids can be compared to marijuana... they are both the lowest form of drug in their field.

  • @spidanez That is BS - & especially fascinating 'cuz U R contradicting even YOURSELF! =)) So now Magnus is a 'roider yes? I don't know, but even if he was, doesn't make it DESIRABLE! U R doing 'bandwagon fallacy'. U know - if everybody did smack, that make it good? Grow a brain, clown. Maybe U should get off the pills YOURSELF! HAHAHA =))

  • @Deathrape2001 im not being contradicting... And i have never taken anything illegal. thats not my cup of tea. Now if I were to reach a professional level of some type of sports then I might consider. And do you even know what anabolic steroids do, or are you just another uneducated wannbe?

  • @spidanez Kut the krap, klown. U say Magnus is clean, then that he isn't, etc. U R just some dork looking 4 a 'chat pal' by changing your story constantly trying 2 stir up trouble. Everything U say is BS.

  • @XenatR Kinda wrong to say pudzianowksi doesnt have the heart for strongman, he has the strongest heart of them all! maybe not the humility and such but the heart is all there. He endures the most on all events. No pain no glory is in his textbook.

  • @Jur0 Pudzianowksi Is NOT the strongest in terms of pure power. No, not even close. Strongmen like Svend, Magnus, Ahola, Kaz, Jon Pall(RIP), OD Wilson(RIP), Slavickas, Poundstone, and much more have shown more dead strength than Pudz's. Pudzianowski is very fit, well condition, fast and perfect height and weight for the strong man events. He's not even undefeated as Poland's strongest man. Just look at his Arnold Classic resume. But he is still the strong man legend!

  • man magnuss is a giant with a great personality! so can someone help me out - i've checked the rules and i do use the proper thumb grip, but i find i'm still able to hook grip quite a bit at the start of the lift... is that normal for the RT lift? would it be legit in the ironmind contest? quite new to the RT.

  • hook grip on a rolling thunder handle??? are u sure thats what u mean because ur hand would have to be enormous for that to happen

  • maybe hook grip isn't what i mean then... it is the rolling thunder. i just feel like i'm using a lot of wrist leverage (i bend my wrist in as much as i can at the start). i do lose that leverage eventually cos of the handle rotation, but it still allows me to lift more weight? should i be starting with a straight wrist? cheers.

  • haha ohhh u meant hook as in the arm wrestling type move. in lifting hook grip means to wrap ur fingers over ur thumb when u grip the bar which is how a lot of olympic weightlifters hang on to the bar when doing heavy cleans and snatches.....im pretty sure what ur doing is considered legal but im not positive

  • oh right i see what you meant now lol, i had no idea... thanks for that correction. and thanks for the help too, appreciate it.

  • Whats the difference between rolling thunder and a normal lift? Cause in another video he lifts 200 kg with one hand.

  • the handle is thicker

  • ok, thx

  • yeahh its a 2 3/8" thick handle and it spins very freely so its tryin to roll out of ur hand as its lifted

  • These dudes have offcourse better genes than me too, but there are limits to how good genes people can have. I have btw never used steroids as they are for losers. And as a last pointer; Maximum amount of muscles each year you can add for a already fit person is usaully 2 Kg. Some might get a little extra, but if you can add twice as much you are superman, and Arild gained like 40 Kgs of muscles in lke 2 years. lmao "they test all the time". As I said, do some research and stop being a retard.

  • Haha, as I said. First of all I never said Magnus used steriods. I said most do. Second... as I said, if Arild "hulk" Haugen doesnt get caught, noone will get caught. I have heard (Im not saying this is absolutely true), and others to, that he had to quit after his doctor told him he had to stop the massive steroid usage. Third, Ive been training weights for 6 years, and I have really good genes for this, but it takes along time to build muscles, especially when you reach a certain level.

  • And if Arild Haugen can dodge the "tests", everyone can. And I didnt say all of them did, but im pretty positive the big majority does.

  • And they dont have good tests for HGH, so they can do what the hell thay want with that stuff. lmao "Just take a look at his arms" <-- how the hell does this verify anything? Stop being so naive.

  • They dont really test for steroids at all in this sport. They say they do, but they dont. I will guarantee you if they did, there would be an assload of people getting caught. Just take a look at Arild Haugen. I even heard from a strongman competitor in my own city who knows him, that he had to give it up because of the massive amount of steroids and such he put into his body (His doctor advised him to stop). He gained like 40 Kg or so in 2 years, which is absolutely impossible naturally.

  • Someone divided by zero

  • lmao at all these people saying he and he doesnt use steroids in strongman and they do. They "all" use, not in the quantities of body builders, but they use. How do you think a nomal guy can even get close to an obvious roid freak like Pudzianowski without using anything? And any guy with average or even good genes for weight lifting knows that getting to the size of these men are practically impossible without using anything. Im not saying they all take something but the majority do,.

  • samuelsson is au natural.

    i've seen natural giants.

some people like mariusz and kevin knee are on the gear.

  • How do you know?

  • they all use steriods stupid

  • yes well.... beleive it or not magnus samuelsson doesn`t.... he`s just like Jon Pall Sigmarsson (RIP) naturally strong+a lot of work

  • Damn! My record is 40kg. ._.

  • Din pappa lyfter inte upp 90kg med ett finger, nej. Han gör antagligen något helt annat, men pressa 90kg med ett finger händer inte.

  • Om han använder alla 10 fingrar tar han 900kg då? xD

  • i wanna see him eat

  • body builders dont train to get strong just get big this is why they use high reps, where as strong men only use 1 to 2 rep training, when bodybuilders train they tear the muscle fibres and they heal back bigger and stronger, when strong men train the only training there centrel nervous system to provide explosive power this is why most dont look like body builders, apart from the best of all time maruiz p he used to be a body builder

  • wouldnt say strongmen only do 1 to 2 rep training..

  • maybe not all of them but some do

  • not entirely true mate.. But in generel youre right.. :)

  • Body builders train to get big muscles that they can show off, strongmen train to get strong and lift heavier.

No, you cant just put it into 2 categories saying "they do more reps, they do less reps".

I dont know about body builders, but i guess they do low rep sets too.

As for strongmen, they do both low reps and high reps.

  • didient do him any good lol hes no where near the best strongman ha

  • does anyone know how long magnus' hands are, in inches?

  • jag gillar när han skriker "en till nu"

  • One fucking hand. Holy shit.

  • i think bodybuilders are gay!"# working out to get muscular ONLY!! Magnus does it to get strong :) and he sure is

  • Magnus has shoulders like a mountain range! & he's a fair way above sea level to :D What you are witness to is pure Viking strength,RAW POWER :D

  • Det är lätt att preparera ett handtag hemma i garaget (ta bort kullagret) och slå världsrekord på youtube som ingen kan kontrollera. Kan vara äkta, eller så är det bluff.. ingen som vet, mer än Magnus.

  • bodybuilders don't really work on functional strength... in general they can lift more weight, but strongmen can put they're strength to much better use... that's why i do a bit of both... i just wanna be strong and look strong. - Magnus you're awesome!

  • 102kg warm up? lol... man i hope i can do 100kg one day haha

  • 126kg? 277lbs, damn Magnus you are strong!

  • jajajajaja

  • the diffrence is not so huge but it always depends on what u want to do or what u train on

  • Kind of stupid question. What seperates Strongmen from bodybuilders really? Could a Jay Cutler, Ronnie Coleman do the things these guys do? Or is the difference huge?

  • Bodybuilders train to look big, they have to manage the body fat too... Strongmen on the other hand focus on strenght only and don't care how they look. So strongmen are usually stronger because all the time they put in is towards strenght, bodybuilders loose weight and streanght during competiton seasons.

  • Cutler & Coleman are signicantly weaker than strongmen by around 20 to 30%.

Its based on the training. One trains for size, the other for strength.

For example, Coleman is shown squatting 800 pounds with a squat suit. World record is over 1200 pounds.

Raw bench record is over 700 pounds. Coleman can only do about 580 to 600.

  • @redozboy Though I'm sure you're correct on your facts, there is just something funny about "can ONLY bench about 580 to 600".

  • Precisely what the past 2 people have said. The aim for bodybuilders is all appearance- so not only do they try to work off as much fat as possible, but they also try to isolate all the muscles, and be as "ripped" as possible- and as symmetrical as possible.

  • one big diffrense is that bobybuilders are pillpoing fags and with fags i really mean that they are gay

  • your right, i agree, body builders are cool but they think that what they do translates to anything and everything. fucking idiots

  • Seriously impressive feat of strength, that grip is 2 3/8" in diameter and made of PVC: not easy to hold at all.

Mark Felix has since beaten Magnus; he did 301lbs at the WSM Super Series in January

  • So it is the grip that makes this impressive right? Cause that weight isnt really heavy for Magnus.

  • ya, the grip makes this a challenge. If you ever get a chance to use the rolling thunder, you figure that out in a hurry.

  • I've never seen this in person, but I'm assuming that a person with larger hands then has an advantage in grip? I saw a video fo Mark Felix and his hands look HUGE/long (and obviously he is really strong). My hands are probably half his size, doubt I could lift this with any weight.

  • Except Felix used chalk and Magnus didn't...

  • Magnus is great, one of the truly GREAT strongmen, I'm surprised he didn't win more than once, although there were some great strongmen around at that time, such as Svend Karlsen, Janne Virtanen, Jouko Ahola. They were all awesome.

Riku Kiri was another great strongman but failed to win the worlds strongest man title.

  • what are those good for?

  • Just a test of strength.

  • @SwedishVikingPower It's primarily for forearm/grip training.

  • @SwedishVikingPower Grip strength and some lower arm strength i think... atleast so i've heard.

  • It builds your open-hand strength. It's MUCH harder than it looks.

  • @laloser55 it one arm deatlift dumb ass

  • @laloser55 especially grip-strength

  • @laloser55

    hes grip

  • I have a rolling thunder, great tool, no way could I do 285, that's insane.

  • well they asked him to play in troy. but he said it woude have been gay to get killd by brad pit

  • Seriously? lol!

  • @kakan113 ahhaahah thats awesome!!! And he is right, because brad pit is just a pencil neck!!

  • @kakan113 How can he turn down a movie role for some dumb shit like that. I would've let Pee wee Herman kill me in a movie.

  • He had just been in marocco doing a strong man contest and it was 2 hot i think

  • Magnus is much stronger than Mark Felix. He is lifting 285 lbs without chalk.Mark lifted 300 lbs with chalk on the handle and made a new WR.I'd like to see how much Magnus can lift with chalk on the handle.

  • no mate u cnt do it im soz u cnt

  • I doubt it. This is in KILOS, so it's about 225 lb. Still think you could do it?

  • The handle is much thicker than a standard handle. The handle is about as thick if not thicker than the end part of an olypmic bar. Extremely hard to do with even a little weight. Oh and by the way I deadlift over 600lbs without straps and I couldn't even begin to do that.

  • The deal is the so called Rolling Thunder grip. Its rather broad and rolling, so you need an supreme grip, to deal with the Rolling Thunder.

  • Thanks for explaining.

  • 285 pounds on a rotating 2 3/8'' handle

  • You don't seem to understand...he's doing that with 285lb; most people can't do that with 150.

People with good grips can do about 200. It's WAY harder than it looks.

  • he must deadlift more than 600lbs...

  • Probably closer to 800.

  • mark felix did 300 lbs...=136kilos

but magnus is my idol---keep the good work

  • mark felix did 300 lbs...=136kilos

but magnus is my idol---keep the good work

  • Helt jävla galet :P

  • Magnus-Samuelsson(dot)net

  • om man värmer upp med 102kg då är man STTTTTAARRRRKkkk!!

Iff u warm upp with 210 lb u is STRRONNNGGG!!

  • "u ARE strong" menar du väl?

    ;D

  • The bearded guy who puts the weights onto the scale's also strong. Who's he?

  • God damnit he uses both his hands, half the weight

  • his movie?

  • Yes, the "Worlds Strongest Arms" DVD. And yes, this is from that DVD.

  • cool! do you check your inbox every month? :P were can one get that?

  • Ironmind sells it. You can order it directly from they're site. I also believe you can buy it directly from Magnus' website.

  • this guy is strong

  • He has grip strength like a sicko! Without grip strength, you can't break records in Rolling Thunder.

  • No shit.

  • ya magnus rox

  • strong

  • Magnus Samuelsson is the best!
