Man im excited!! wanna know why boys and girls?? cause this song will go on my ipod..and i will walk along the beach..and stare at all the beautiful girls that pass me bye..the birds that soar over my head..and i will watch as the sun sinks into the sea...
when ever I watch this video I feel like I am trapped and for some reason I keep looping different parts of it.. for all of the different parts and sounds and her face and eye's...the guitars and piano wrap around like next stop outter space.
Fame. Strung out. Fresh eggs. I need a boyfriend. Kate freaks out. Don't fall. But it's the eye I got, and I freak out, fresh eggs, I need a boyfriend. Dave freaks out. Don't fall. But it's the eye I got and uh... A new transistor for ten, I knew a Jew shoe. A new transistor for ten, I knew a Jew shoe smells out. Well all the fame - MELLOW OUT MELLOW OUT - now now now.
Love Is An Eyesore was and is the most important album I ever listened to. This one collection got me forever hooked on the Cocteau Twins, Dead Can Dance, Clan of Xymox and Dif Juz. If you have never listened to the whole thing multiple times in a row, your life is not complete. I've seen Cocteau Twins and DCD in concert and they were both, in every sense of the word, amazing.
La musica de CT me ha servido durante mas de 20 años para celebrar (como hoy) o cuando la angustia de la soledad ronda por los rincones de mi cuarto. Thanks a lot for posting this.
@foisonnant.. yesssssss when I saw then (twice) I cry'd like a baby that just wet his pant's after hearing the music so many times and then when you actually see them and hear it in person... my good I was actually shaking....and when you see her in video's it's the real deal..she laugh's and everything but there's really something else going on there...like in this video... look at her eye's...she get's really spooky.
What foisonnat is saying sort of happened to me with them. CT came into my life at about the same time I first read 'The Mists of Avalon.' I never saw them, but I think of Liz as one of the priestesses of Avalon'; transforming our lives with the power of her voice alone. I feel as though the mists on the barge are clearing, and I am entrering anohter realm, long forgotten. She is one of the fairy-people, and she takes me to another place--Thanks Liz, and Cocteau Twins for enhancinging my life.
Cocteau Twins as well as This Mortal Coil bring to mind what LUSH("GALA"//"SPOOKY"//"SPLIT"//"LOVELIFE//CIAO[1986-1996"]) will be creating soon thereafter or already doing so.
I remember hearing their songs when I was a kid, and then I heard 'The Sirens Song' used in The Lovely Bones- and WOW. So emotional already from the movie, the song just clenched it. So glad I found them again. TY for posting^^
WOW! The "Lovely heaviness" of this beautiful song is so cathartic for so many of us! Cheers to the tremendous talent & sound of The Cocteau Twins on this one & all their other gems! 'nuff said, methinks. . . Oh, one more thought.. . as their sound remains remarkable over the decades. . . . "Oh my God, Just Beautiful & Comforting! " Thanks for the post! -
"lyrics" seem different almost every time. This time "are you just the SUMMER duo tone smooth she?" "Are you just the Summer duo tone through she smooths out?"
I've seen Cocteau Twins live three times. Anyway, Liz is very gracious. She actually smiled a lot. Back in 1996, Milk N Kisses was the hightlight of that year for me. I can understand that bands break up... it's just that they not so much created songs but rather a soundtrack for life. You can take their songs to mean whatever you want it to mean... it's hers, but it will always be with us. We need Cocteau Twins to help us take a second to reflect on the universe around us.
@WickIDwarrior seen them at least 10 times and I will tell you...there will NEVER be a band as outstanding as the Cocteau Twins. There is no discussion here about ANYTHING!! they were a band that kicked the #%^ out of every radio friendly band that has ever existed and it's a shame that no one ever heard of them...but hey...artists are onlt seen as great when their dead.....

Gracias, merci, thanks, arigato. :-) :-) ;-)
elizabeth is great as always, but on this particular song i am more moved by robin's guitar work. it has to have one of the most beautiful openings to a song ive heard
@coolcarlz it was originally released on a 4AD record titled Lonely Is An Eyesore and was later reissued on a CD titled Cocteau Twins Singles Collection EP
yeah, in the scene when neil is on the subway. in my opinion, that movie has the best soundtrack. not only cocteau twins, but slowdive, ride, all great bands
True masters of their craft with the seemingly exact precision of swooning melodies or dark textures...Some say the same about a well established painter whose imprint corners every museum or harbor side amateur who perfectly captures the sunset. God's beauty in its many shades and tones. I am grateful to have seen it or in this case, heard it. And everytime I return to the sounds, its like the first time. Bravo cocteau!
FRESH EGG'S.. to stick's of butter...now NOW .. I see a little sugar a dose of boat milk..more FRESH EGG'S....yeah that's what I thought too..and then you just get lost in those guitar's...this is the main reason why I'll pretty much buy anything solo robin put's out on his own because of the guitar's are unlike any you here....
This was the very first thing I had ever seen of Cocteau Twins and Elizabeth Fraser when I used to collect compilations to discover new music. I scored the VHS Lonely Is An Eyesore at ZIA RECORDS in Phoenix, AZ. The music I discovered on that VHS was the groundbreaking change in my creativity forever.
@INITIALSJE me too. A glorious era for music. "Lonely is an Eyesore" was a great sampler ...especially this track, This Mortal Coil and Clan of Xymox.
There may well be french in there somewhere. Liz used to collect words from all sources, modern or classic language, fantasy fiction, words that sprung from the pages were copied down. She had whole bookcases of words she used. Commited to memory all of them. Genius/Angel indeed.
Robin Guthrie creates some of the most gorgeous instrumentals such as this one it has a way of tugging at your emotions leaving you speechless. That beginning I could listen to forever endlessly I feel like Im walking on air. The Cocteau Twins in so many of their songs have a way of making the listener explore the possibilities of listening. I've only took the first step I feel like through each passing listen...a new revelation
uma das minhas canções preferidas...ela é tao inventiva, tao envolvente....me dá até nostalgia....ela foi usada num filme famoso ae numa cena eqto um epersonagem andava de trem tocava essa musica...inesquecivel!
One of their very best. Saw them in 1990. I'll always remember Liz Fraser, She was dressed in grey, like a teacher in 19th century. Short woman, wiithout any trace of glamour. When she sung, suddendly a magical forest popped in the room. She was a fairy, an atomic bomb, the whole galaxy, the most beautiful creature in the whole universe. Just breathtaking. I was a newborn, I was a thousand years old, CT were reaching places in my heart, in my soul, in my body, places I was not aware of.
yeah, I think practically everything I've heard from them is worth a listen. It says on the 'Lonely is an eyesore' video that all tunes were recorded especially for the compilation except 'frontier' (or fwunteer in Elmer Fudd language) by dead can dance.
i remember being in a house waiting for a tv to be delivered and in the house was no furniture as yet just a small cassete to play this on i played over over again allday..i still love this song ..
Yeah this song may be the best synonym of happiness, joy , and get ready for paradise, how cool it is...thanks ! (plus it is a not often played song )
This gives me the chills...

you know it sounds like French to me somehow...anyone else gets that?
castrojeriz33 2 years ago 2
There may well be french in there somewhere. Liz used to collect words from all sources, modern or classic language, fantasy fiction, words that sprung from the pages were copied down. She had whole bookcases of words she used. Commited to memory all of them. Genius/Angel indeed.

Há certas coisas que nos são inexplicáveis...mas ouvir este tema é dar brilho aquilo que "nós" entendemos por estranho ;)

Do you have an album name for this song? Or maybe they just spit out good albums all over and I should listen to them all? :)
mr82769 2 years ago
To: @mr82769
I don't think that this was released on an album.
I have it in a 10 disc box set of singles.
cauldron999 2 years ago
Thats a bit overkill for someone who only recently found them :) Thanks though.
mr82769 2 years ago
yeah, I think practically everything I've heard from them is worth a listen. It says on the 'Lonely is an eyesore' video that all tunes were recorded especially for the compilation except 'frontier' (or fwunteer in Elmer Fudd language) by dead can dance.
