Kings, George Clooney mentioned that Ice Cube never had a stunt double for a scene where he is attacked by somebody. (haven't seen the film so I don't know if it made it in the final cut) However George Clooney said the director was pushing his boundaries on what he can and can't do. Ultimately, he intervened and led to the more famous feud they would eventually have.
Oh yeah. I take the directors side too. You can see at the beginning he's absorbing her profanity and trying to remain calm. After a while he realizes she's not going to grow up, so he shows her he can make things even worse if he wants to. The really funny part is how when he gets pissed, she suddenly starts trying to play it all straight laced and professional again. Kudos to Russel

Ultimately, he intervened and led to the more famous feud they would eventually have.

Oh yeah. I take the directors side too. You can see at the beginning he's absorbing her profanity and trying to remain calm. After a while he realizes she's not going to grow up, so he shows her he can make things even worse if he wants to. The really funny part is how when he gets pissed, she suddenly starts trying to play it all straight laced and professional again. Kudos to Russel

Wow, I can't believe more people are siding with the director. LT had already explained her frustration at acting out the scene. DR threw a temper tantrum and has been known to do this on other sets. He is calling her names and getting physical--extremely uncalled for.

If I was the director and this was near to the start of production I would have fired her. If I had a gun on me, one of the crew would have to stop from drawing it and shooting her infront of the rest of the crew!!
She just doesn't acknowledge basic rules of animal instinct and keeps on pushing it...
Lawsuits not in existence: if she was a guy the director would probably have punched him out! And he wouldn't have been in 'the wrong' imo to do so.

She has had much more experience in the field than the director has, and he freaks out because of this very fact. He was patronizing her, so she did it back to him and he couldn't take a taste of his own medicine. I do wonder what we missed during the cut, though.

wow- it's sad to read all these reviews from guys rallying at the fact a grown man lost his cool and hit an innocent bystander with a book off the desk. someone shouldve taken charge and calmed the situation down. tomlin seemed to had been trying to get under his skin, which is wrong, and he just couldnt or didnt want to handle it and let loose. sad but also funny to watch. they both deserve a spanking!
