  • I just recently passed my test for technician. I have an old 102 whip I want to trim down to work on 2 and 6 meters. How much should i trim off the 102 to get me in the ball park to work on 2 and 6 meters? Thanks!

  • GOD BLESS YOU 73'

  • Thank You,Margaret! Nice Video,simple homebrewing!

  • Thank you Margaret, Nice Video of the antenna for 2 meters, also FYI your 5/8th wave antenna will work on 6 Meters as a 1/4 wave length, it is the same electrical length 1/4 wave. you can add a ground plane kit to it if you wish but you must insulate the Canter TX from the ground then add the ground plane kit so really your 5/8th wave antenna is a dual banded antenna... thank you for the video and please keep up the good work V. 73 K4eeZ

  • Dear VK4MH,

Thank you for your excellent tutorial. I have very recently passed my FCC licensing exam here in the US and a was seeking a first radio electronics project. The 2 meter antenna you describe will be my first. Thanks for the inspiration!

  • Nice video 78

  • easier to buy one

  • Hi Miss margaret. I need a antenna for 6 meters only for reception (no transmition)¿witch is the long of the antenna and the coil turns? (sorry for my horrible grammatic english) thank you.

  • @MrJosearre 5/8 144mhz = 1/4 50mhz 5/8 70cm = 1/4 2m 73 de oz1dwx

  • @OZ1DWX Thank you miss Margaret for your answer, your video es very good, clear and easy. good luck. p.s. I will wait more videos from you.

  • thanks grandma

  • That is fantastic Margret! I use a over engineered flowerpot on 2/70, and it stands over 6 feet tall. No gain problems there!

  • well done *.* ct2gkd

  • nice one Margaret! I have a class A in the UK and will maybe hear you on the bands one day.

  • cool lady hi

  • Can that be mounted on a tower for a 2 meter base antenna?

  • @daleriff don't see why not, but for a base antenna a slim jim design would work far better! lower angle of radiation and no ground required.

  • Well done...

  • Very Nice Video and so Sweet. Thanks!

  • Congratulations from PW8RC, best regards, 73!

  • How would i go using this for 164mhz ? would trimming be enough or i would need to adjust the coil?

  • Wow that lady rules! She like a classic hacker....I wonder how much I could get for her on the antiques road show?

  • WOW. I have never seen an elderly woman make antennas before...Thats great.

  • good video thaks

  • It is a very good article and simple on building an antenna.

  • I realy like your video do you have any good/easy ones for a police scanner? or my S.W.radio?

  • Very nice video! Congratulations!

  • De K4eez Nice Video, your 5/8th wave antenna will also work on 6 meters as a 1/4 wave, as it is the same electrical length. you can add a ground plane kit to it if you wish but you must insulate the Canter TX from the ground EG a 3/8th mount on a sheet of metel will be fine and then add the ground planes

    De K4eez thank you 73...

  • perfect well done x

  • Brilliant and it looks the part, Im new to amatuer radio and finding all these homemade antennas on line that cost next to nothing cant wait to try them all

  • that was wonderful, thank you

  • Thank you !!!

    Excelent video !!!

  • Thx VK4MH, enjoyed your video how to, question, what lengths (fiberglass rod, enameled wire etc)would I need to make 1.25m, 440 MHz?

  • D best!! Professional! 73 from Slovenia!

  • wow, im suprised. older lady knows her stuff

  • excelent video, very simple, easy to understand. TKS .

  • this is Ki6WTG and i was wondering if that type of attenna would work as a 5/8 groundplane attenna?

  • Exelent video and nice antenna.

  • 1 word! Amazing!!

  • I have been looking on how to build a 5/8th wave properly, particularly the coil specs at the bottom. Great instructions here that make things very easy. Thank you. 73

  • Excellent job! 73's KJ4KDN

  • Quick, simple and it works, great video, keep up the good work and cannot wait to see more in the future. many thanks, Karl, (UK).

  • Good job.. Anybody know where to find the metal "base" part?

  • Ty for a MOST excellent demonstration.

    VERY informative.. Cheers Rod VK4HH

  • would this antennia work if i used 14 ga wire and left the insukation on it and only striped the areas to be sodered to the base and the bread?

  • dont HAm ant have to be grounded the CB antennias? I study for my tech now. but play ing cb until does this need to be longer for 27Mhz ?

  • that 2 metere ant is for the frequency of 144 MHZ. CB is usualy 27 MHZ. possibly the best mobile whip for 27 MHZ would be a helical whip. I may make a video of that one later.

  • i will subscribe to your channel. please adivice me when you make the video about the cb antenna, thanks

  • Hi im new in the business, i have bought a cb radio, The antenna uses a coax cable to connect with the radio unit, you soldered only one conducter, what about the ground?

    thanks

    Well Done eeee

  • Hey All,

Still trying to learn about antenna's and i was just wondering what would need to be changed to make this antenna work on the 70cm band.

I know the length will change, but what about the coil/winding at the bottom?

    Thankyou

  • Try soldering 15 cm of braid to ant. base then 11 turns of wire then 33 cm of braid then another 11 turns of wire then 20 and a half cm of braid then another 11 turns of wire then 28 and a half cm of braid.

  • Wow sweet as, and also, if i were to try to construct this for UHF CB (477Mhz), how much shorter will these measurements be? I assume the 3 coils should stay the same amount of turns?

    Thanks for all this :)

  • should be a good swr for 477Mhz as well because it is a fairly wide band antenna as well.

  • good video! thank for tutorial :)

  • great job !! well done !

  • Excellent job and great design, will have to try that one! Thanks for the excellent Video.
