How is RN the best in the world when we don't even have an independant strike force thanks to Cameron's cuts (selling our Harriers to the US for less than theyr'e worth, on top of that, we lost some massive experience when the Fleet Air Arm had their Harriers removed so our pilots can't even fly, and by the time we get our new carriers that experienced will be lost and we will be reliant on the yanks to teach us the skills we taught them in the 1st place!

look at the size of the uk. ok now look at the size of the us. the size is all relative, in actual fact in ratio terms we probably have a navy the same size as the united states, so roughly for every 1000 people we have 1 person in the navy in the uk. whereas in the us it's 1 for every 920 people. so only <100 difference between us. quantity does not mean quality by any means anyway, and we all know that.

I mean the availability of some units that are supposed to be ready for combat but they are actually under repair. British subs are not as reliable as US, French or Russian ones (yes, Russia has had big problems with some of its submarines, but it is a country with more than 60, so it does has to have problem

look at the size of the uk. ok now look at the size of the us. the size is all relative, in actual fact in ratio terms we probably have a navy the same size as the united states, so roughly for every 1000 people we have 1 person in the navy in the uk. whereas in the us it's 1 for every 920 people. so only <100 difference between us. quantity does not mean quality by any means anyway, and we all know that.

And before you say the harrier, the harrier is a british aircraft, and we use the GR9 which is better than the american AV8B. The AV8B was 50:50 british american.. and we chose the GR9...

@PlaneAU American AV8B is far superior to British Harriers. the old British system was replaced by the Hughes APG-65 pulse-doppler multi-mode radar, which, along with the increase in the number of hardpoints, enhanced the AV-8B's air-to-air capability. The AV-8B Plus can also carry the Harpoon, AIM-120 AMRAAM and AGM-65 Maverick missiles..All these capabilities which British Harriers didnt have.

@barracuda7018 i don't think you understant the the latest british harriers (before they were decomissioned) were derived from AV8Bs. And AV8Bs were a joined effort between BAE and McDonnell Douglas. Anyway, they are derived from AV8Bs, why would they be any worse? Go onto wikipedia, the british harriers have a slight edge on performance over the AV8B anyway.

It has a redesigned fuselage, a new wing, an elevated cockpit and other structural and aerodynamic refinements and scores of new electronics and radars plus A2A missiles which gave the aircraft BVR capability .The Brits were much impressed with the American version..
