Hi all - this is an unreleased demo from early on in the Extremities era, hence it changed so much. So this is up there with The Fanatic, etc. It's available on the remastered Extremities as a bonus track - check this wikipedia for the remastered Extremities, 2007.
I find the low number of views of this video nothing less then shocking ! This song is a pure GEM ; the biggest trash on youtube has been viewed hundreds of thousands, even millions, of times ! Unbelievable, what is the world coming to for peace sake !! I knew it wasn't much good but this is extremely tragical.....................
@houmanDMD : Even if the other music wouldn't be shitty, they are helpless against this. Has any other guitarist ever played a number of guitar parts in a song, two of which with their own feedback , in enchanting harmony?? How about the never before heard moving of the plectrum along the strings liberally across the entire song? Come on, the alleged "big" names have never come up with briljant stuff like this in their entire career, let alone in a single song !! Geordie is simply KING !!
I have the chords worked out by now ; a brilliant mix of Geordies favorites and a few exiting new ones ! I could listen to this song a thousand times and would still not have enough of it. To bad the world does not realize that this is one of the most beautiful and awesome pieces of music ever recorded !! Thanks Jaz & Geordie, i owe you big time !!
@houmanDMD I'm sorry, I play the guitar and like to play Geordies parts although it's very challenging or just impossible to reproduce his chords. It is nice however when you hear the music to recognize chords he has used before and how he puts them together to a completely different song!!
@Eric22 well that's ok. Must be nice to actually be able play these wonderful tunes. there is such a huge differnce between this version and the one on extremeties.. i love his vocals on this and somewhat reminds me of his vocals on brighter than thousnad suns.
@houmanDMD It is nice to play them , it shows you the unmatched creativity of Geordie even better. I too feel there is a resemblance with "brighter....." although this one is sung with a bit more power. It seems to me by the way that these are two totally different songs with the same title, not two versions of one song.
@houmanDMD Your friend bufon here :) I spoke to Jaz a few years ago regarding this masterpiece. (read the first comment). I quizzed him on why the fuck it was never released. He told me basically that "it wasn't up to much". Staggering response. But "European Superstate" is?? This is in a different league. Peace :)
@bufon63 wow. that seems to be a pattern with their b sides. this song kicks ass, and just can't belive it's a bside. another good example is hollywood babylon. what do you think about the hosana album in general? aside from like two songs, i thought it was terrible. do you agree? thanks for sharing the info. it's amazing he didn't think much of this song!
@houmanDMD For me KJ are very much hit and miss and have been for years. I'm not some guy who stuck in a timewarp, it's just that their first 3 albums were out on their own, classics, and acts very hard to follow. I got tired of all the negative comments made after I commented on the European Superstate track so I removed it. Everyone's entitled to an opinion after all. This track (on an emotional level) is very much like Love like Blood, I feel. Absolute masterpiece. Beautiful. Inspired.
WTF?? Listen to that guitar : Magical ! Geordie must be some kind of god or something else supernatural!! You always wonder what he will come up with next but It's always unlike what you had expected but extraordinary and brilliant !!
that version was recorded in 1989 as part of a four-song demo cassette they used to shop for record labels after EG-- the tracklist included Solitude, Jubilation (early Beautiful Dead-- later released on flexi), the Party, and Fanatic. Tgey did a similar thing years later in 2001 with Loose Cannon, Silent Rage and Future Shock.
Could you tell me the origin of this track? I know the track "Solitude" from the Extremities album. Is this new or old? Thank you for sharing, i love it!

i've got them as being recorded in Germany, August 1989. either way, they were written in 1988, and later re-vamped.

this is the alternate version of Solitude from the E,D&VRE Remaster. It is one of the bonus tracks which also included the Party and the Fanatic.
